Nice game, cool mechanism and very cute design!
It's impressive how many items you can pick and put in that cauldron haha!
Very well done!
Nice game with great visuals! I like that you can brew everything!
Wow, was totally blown way with the models and art, great job! I really liked the stats on each item and had fun brewing everything up. I did glitch out at some point and the game completely crashed out, but overall it ran really well. Thanks!
Hey bronixes, I tried this again and now I managed to play it, like I said on laptop I could not move, but on desktop I managed to play, here are my notes for it:
Hey, thanks for the great feedback! I can assure you, some of the things are already considered for future versions we plan to do (yeah we plan to continue with this game, it's been a great learning experience and we've received so much positive feedback!)
I hope you liked the game and thanks again for a big review! I'm glad it finally worked for you to play it
Really liked the game and especially the models!! The only problem as already pointed out by another comment is the fact that more "reducing reagents" would make the game feel a bit more fair because someties it's really confusing! But everything else is amazing!!!
The cat was so cute. This game has so much charm!
Thanks!
Hey, I tried to play the game but for some reason I could not move at all. I tried everything but I could only move the camera. The graphics for the game look awesome though!
Oh, that's weird. What platform are you on? Web version or desktop?
The movement is WASD, not the arrow keys, just in case. I'd be happy to resolve the issue for you
I tried the web version. I could not move with wasd or arrow keys 🤔
I would highly recommend the desktop version if you are on Windows or Linux (Linux Mint tested).
Perhaps the cursor was not locked in? There is a small note in description regarding it. If the cursor is visible - press ESC to open the menu -> go full screen mode -> close the menu with your cursor
Let me know if that helps.
Ah, thanks I'll try later today 👍
I must say, that the amount of interactable items is really overwhelming, I spent solid 5 minutes just walking around and exploring what’s available. Good job! Fortunately, I did not read the reviews beforehand, so I was not spoiled with the idea to use the cat as a reagent :D I think having more “reducing” reagents - like the crystal ball - would help to fine-tune the brew and would enable making a perfect potion. Cheers!
after being subject to the sassy remarks of multiple customers, despite my best efforts to make them a good potion, it brought me TREMENDOUS satisfaction to start picking them up and throwing them in the cauldron XDD
this is a fantastic entry =) loved the atmosphere. Cozy little house in the middle of a nice village, everything looks very cute and polished. That cat model is beautiful, did you do it yourselves? either way the visuals look super good and everything feels smooth, super well done
it was a bit hard for me to get the perfect potion, but it was funny seeing them get a bit angry, and especially funny when I started making the customers into potion themselves...muahaha
Thanks for great review! Glad that you figured out how to do that haha
Yeah the potions system is somewhat unfinished unfortunately, it's fully random to be honest, therefore sometimes it very hard / impossible to get the right potion ;( But if you give them wrong potions, or the same potions there are fun interactions!
The cat and other assets are not made by us, all credits are in the credits menu entry, so you can check them out!
Fun game, took me a while to figure out how to brew potions. Good controls and it was fun exploring the house and yard looking for items. I managed to escape the area as well with the tree to explore the other background assets.
very cute game!
I think I would have preferred if the customer requests were static and not dynamic like you have it. I would've liked to have been made to wander around the yard to look for the perfect combination of available ingredients instead of getting potions requests that I have no way of making.
But the game was cool, I like the 3D world and I liked how you would add additional effects to the base potions.
Yeah, we totally get that our customer and potion system isn’t great, so we’re already planning to rework it. Same with the 3D world - we originally wanted to add way too much stuff: better shadows, sky, grass, lots of props, a well, even a cool basement entrance hidden behind barrels under the stairs XD
This was our second jam, and we’re really happy we at least managed to capture the overall vibe of what we had in mind. It was super fun, and we’re still kind of riding that excitement from how much we managed to do and learn in such a short time.
A lot of effort in the art as I can see, it's all about the ingredient and brewing directly. I wish the walking speed was a bit faster though, good job!
Cool concept on everything = ingredient. Haven't figured out even one single prefect potion tho. Game lacks tutorial imo at least for first potion. Something like, "I had something *item_name* in the house, and *item_name2* in the garden. This two ingredients would perfectly much the needs of the customer". Very good potential and I'm glad to read that you are planning to continue to work on this game. Good luck!
P.S. This Jam made me to really think about pushing my game forward too. It needs total redesign (as I am not an artist) and additional features. I would be happy to see your review too!
Thanks for feedback! There was no time for tutorial and everything except for the first customer was randomly generated based on the ingredients and potions we have defined. Unfortunately, in this state of the game some adjectives are also impossible to get, so sorry for that :(
But I did in fact craft a perfect potion for the person. We wanted to include "acceptance criteria" / "drift" and "disliked effects", as well as taboo for some ingredients.
Great entry! It took me a bit to figure out what items I needed to put in the potions, but fun once I got it.
It was fun (and sometimes a little confusing) to find the right ingredients for the potions. Cozy game loop. Good work!
Thanks! Yeah time pressure & randomization made it not so clean and some effects are still not implemented, unfortunately, but we are already thinking of pushing this game forward post game jam
had a lot of fun walking around trying to find ingredients to make the correct combinations. also love the cat! nice work
Everything being an ingredient was brilliant, but the cat man… why can you also put him in the cauldron? 😭 I couldn’t figure out the secret interaction, but I did figure out how to get off the map :P Also, items scattered around the house encourage the player to explore. Nice job!
Cat is not the only living thing you can put in the cauldron :D
Thanks for kind review
Really fun concept! I think I know what the secret interaction but I didn't figure out how to do it :P
Audio and graphics fit the vibe really well. I found myself wishing the movement speed was just a bit faster
Amazing! Great vibes, great audio, great polish! Love the commitment to everything being an ingredient =). Had a bit of trouble with cursor locking, but it worked after a few minimizing/maximizing screens.
Yeah it's best experienced in the desktop version, web always comes with its downsides! Thanks!
