Dice Dungeon is what it reminds me of. Really fun to click the dice. This game does have a feel of a solo dev.
Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed the dice mechanics!
The combat system of the game reminds me of an old removed game on the app store named tiny dice dungeons in how the player has different dice types to choose from and how rolling the same number on 2 or more dice multiplies the damage which is nice. But the game has room to improve as for one, the lack of background music makes battles less intense so adding some sort of battle appropriate background music would help a lot. Another way the game could improve is in dice variety, an example of such variety could be status die, dice that apply status effects like burn or poison that deal damage over time, paralysis or sleep that when successfully hit by high rolling a 6 would either cripple the opponents die to only hit lower numbers or disable their dice, dice that multiply the value of other dice to the left or right of them or even dice that give temporary health to the vampire that decays after a turn or two(the temp health dice is in response to one of the previous comments in which you mentioned your uncertainty about adding a heal dice due to balancing issues). Also as previous comments have mentioned most likely and what I experienced during gameplay, I was unable to select which enemy to target when there was more than one enemy which often led to me missing on a kill on an enemy by hitting the wrong one. Regarding the theme, I could not really see a strong connection to it despite the gaining health on kill mechanic. Perhaps you could've gave the vampire the option to sacrifice a set amount of hp to block any one hit or even gave the vampire a specific weakness the npcs need to use to kill him lest he simply survive on 1HP like a stake dice that later stage npcs would use to actually pose as a run ending threat to the player. Overall this game was enjoyable but could be so much more with the right game mechanic additions and background music to set the tone. The pixel art was also simple but effective.
Thank you for such detailed feedback! I'll try to go through all your points
I actually had some similar ideas to dice variety (like multipliers and status effects), and I really like your idea about temporary health, I'll definitely consider that!
Your point about the theme is tottaly fair. I had some ideas to make it more noticeable, but they didn't fully come together.
I also see what you mean about targeting enemies and lack of audio, both would definitely improve the game.
I'm really glad you enjoyed the game, and thanks again for all the suggestions!
I love the combat system of the game, rolling to attack enemies is fun. I also love the art style, I think it fits well with the game. However, I did encounter a bit of bugs with trying to attack the enemies, pressing the enemies didn't let me attack them for some reason, dices were selected, this kinds of hinders the experience a little bit. Overall, the game is really solid and fun to play!
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked the art style and combat!
Other people have pointed out this issue too. I'm currently working on fixing it!
The main mechanic of this is creative and was fun to play with. I think the main things that could have been improved would have been in having background music, and maybe a little variety to the die skillchecks - maybe different dice could have different things. Overall though, this is a solid entry, nice job.
Thanks!
Adding new dice is definitley something i'd like to do.
And that's fair point about the music, it would definitely enhance the experience.
Got three 6's and one 5 in a round and felt like I was hitting my enemy with a hollow purple, really liked the feeling of stopping the dice at the right time to try to get a better number.
My only nitpick is that I think the game could have explored the theme of the jam more, maybe a dice that heals the player, for example, but that's just a nitpick. Overall, this was a game, nice job!
Thank you! Glad you liked the dice mechanic!
I initially wanted to add a healing die, but couldn't figure out how to balance it properly.
Fun little game that’s easy to get into, I really appreciated the tutorial at the start. I also liked how the UI looks.
The only minor thing for me was that I couldn’t really see the jam’s theme in the game.
Overall, nice job!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the game!
I can see what you mean about the theme. I tried to reflect it through gaining health from enemies, but the dice mechanics ended up overshadowing it a bit.
Cool game, I liked it.
Had a quite a few goes and won a few times.
I think this is just a me problem but there were a couple times I just ended my turn after rolling the dice haha
without doing any damage.
Good game though and good luck in the Jam
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
I actually did that a couple of times as well :D.
I'll have to figure out a way to prevent that from happening.
Hey! I really enjoyed the game, I wish it was longer and with more variety in dice/enemies.
Good job!
Thanks! Glad you liked it
I would love to add more enemies and dice in the future!
Pretty enjoyable game. Like other people have said, I liked that I could stop the dice myself instead of it being random. It adds a little bit of control/skill to the game. It's pretty straightforward, which I liked
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the game and the dice control mechanic!
A cool idea and fun execution! I love gambling games. Some feedback:
- I'm not completely sold on letting the player stop the dice. "Skilled gambling" of course did work with Slots & Daggers. But for some reason I feel that this would be more fun with real dice randomness and the player control just being to build their dice "deck"
- Had issues sometimes with playing the dice sometimes. I think allowing the player to just click on the enemy after clicking the dice would be more intuitive.
Great job on the game! The art was cute and the dice scratched the gambling itch.
Thanks for the detailed feedback!
I can see how real randomness could be fun. I went with manual stopping to give the player more control and a bit of strategic decision-making.
And you have a point about selecting enemies and dice. Making it more intuitive is definitely on my to-do list!
Really cool game ! I like the concept a lot : It's simple, but it has depth and meaningful choices. Clever design !
Got killed by the boss because of a bad streak, I should have rerolled but decided to gamble D:
Now you just need to add a bit more sound effects and a cool music, and everything will be top notch !
Good job :)
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it!
Taking risks can definitely backfire sometimes, but that's what makes it fun, right?
And you're right, the audio could really use some improvement.
Indeed ! That's entirely the point of these mechanics after all.
As for the audio, well it's an easy fix, besides that everything else is cool. Just needs more content after that and you're set :D
I really enjoyed the mechanics of having the ability to stop the dice yourself. I also like how there are a variety of dice to get. If there were more dice and enemies, then I think this could turn out to be a pretty unique roguelike!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the mechanics!
And I agree, adding more dice and enemies would definitely make the game better.
I really liked the concept of your game, this theme of needing luck to be able to pass is very cool, congratulations
Thank you! Glad you liked the concept!
The art style is cool ! ,The audio can be more improved or add more SFX and I can see of the screen I think , But KEEP GOING ! 💜🔥
Thank you so much! Glad you liked the art style! I think i've figured out what might be causing the viewport issue, so I'll fix it after the jam ends. And you're right, the audio could really use some improvement.
Really like the dice-based idea, it fits the RPG vibe really well and makes everything feel more strategic. I’ve worked on a dice game before too, so it was cool seeing how you handled it here. Some comments mentioned small confusion with controls and wanting more actions, but the core idea is solid and fun . I’d really appreciate it if you could rate my game too
Thanks for playing! I'm really glad you enjoyed the dice mechanics. Especially since you've worked on a dice game too. I'll check out your game as well!
Really basic but fun, enjoyable idea! Great, original concept. Overall, pretty solid game ^_^
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
There's a bug that prevents me from clicking on enemies. I'm on windows pc using opera gx browser.
Thanks for your feedback! Sorry you ran into this. It looks like there's a problem with viewport in some browsers. I'll try and fix this after the voting period.
Awesome game! I loved the mechanics and how you could get different kinds of dice. I did have a bit of trouble figuring out how to do things like reroll the die, but besides that great game! Also if you could play mine that would be very appreciated :)
Thank you for playing! That's fair, reroll could use a bit more explanation in the game. I'll definitely check out your game too!
Not a bad variety on the dice and how to pair them, but would've liked more type of actions than just attack. Good job overall!
Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to keep fighting simple for the jam, but adding new actions would definitely make the game more diverse.
Reminds me of Dicewood
Thanks! Dicewood was actually one of the inspirations for the game
Nice game tho!
