you should've go either for pollen or strawberry bushes XD gathering strawberries on  random flowers seems so.. well.. random xD I'm curious what would've it be like with the crow attack! For now it is a good starting point for a game, but it lacks a  clear goal or a challenge to feel like a complete experience 🤔

I encountered no bugs, and everything already implemented worked perfectly, great job!

Thanks for playing and commenting~

  • They're strawberry flowers so it makes sense, I guess ◑ω◐ Crow attacks with increasing frequency is currently in my mind to kill the player, probably combined with a online leaderboard as the competitive goal.
  • Yay game is literally too simple for any bugs uwu

I love the parallax in the background!!!

short and simple, also nice to see it following the flavor texts of the jam.

the Mixels... having inconsistent pixel sizes really hurts the games look, consistency in artstyle is very important if u want a polished looking game. game also lacks impact, game juice, and sfx when hitting the flower stems. text font could also have been picked to better match the games art.

id also fix the lose conditions, since simple flying over and skipping everything or just hitting the flower stems, doesnt really add much of a challenge, not that a game necessarily needs a challenge but considering thats the only goal of the game id suggest polishing that aspect more.

Thanks for playing and the criticisms!!! /ᐠ - ⩊ -マ

  • uhhh I regret so much picking that flower asset with the background now... Art consistency is definitely my lesson of the jam, and it's hard to get it right when using multiple asset packs with different pixel sizes and color palettes. The workaround here might be to make my own art consistently instead, even if it's not as good as the public asset packs. Id try to add more juices post-jam!
  • I just have an new obstacle idea, a crow that spawns at upper half of the screen and flying horizontally to hit the bee, how about that :3

  • if using premade assets... for the flowers, u cud have just traced or drawn over with the correct pixel size, that shud have immediately fixed the mixel issues.
  • hehehe crow, also WASP... since those are enemies of bees

So soothing, and somehow not that stressful for a flappy bird game.  This was super easy to control and the transitions were nice and smooth.

The flapping/falling feels really good — i like that i can hit space a few times and make up a lot of height. Other flappy games i feel like I don't have enough control in the moment i need it. Nice work!

A nice simple game, I really liked how the level goes back to the start and makes a sound for each flower. Looking forward to the updates!

Nice chill game :) I enjoyed trying it out! The different heights of the flowers incentivize you to keep trying to change height rather than fly straight and makes you want to risk the challenge. Your todo lost looks good, I hope you get to keep working on it

Cute endless game! It feels like flappy bird but more lenient!

The biggest improvements I would see are

  • Making the assets match in resolution (currently kinda all over the place)
  • Syncing the speed with the BGM as you already planned
  • Add an outline or panel for the score text, as the contrast isn't great against the clouds!
  • Maybe SOME sort of lose condition? A poison berry that shows up that you shouldn't grab perhaps?
Developer

Thanks for playing and the suggestions! ( ᐢᗜᐢ )

  • Yep I couldn't find good free flower assets so I'm trying to make some myself now...
  • Some rhythm game stuffs going on here but I'll try!
  • They do, and I intend to replace all with better UI assets
  • Mhm adding some depth and variation is good, but meanwhile I don't wanna break the tempo of collecting one strawberry per second, so it's a tricky thing to decide. Maybe I could do something like strawberry movements?

its like a chill version of flappy bird, could see this working as a mobile game with some extra content, maybe some skins. Definitely some inspiration you could take from jetpack joyride or similar titles. good work!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Hat skins is already on my todo list, buy them with strawberries I guess uwu

I love the little bee character it is so sweet! A very nice simple gameplay loop with a beautiful aesthetic. Nice job!

This game was really addictive, I scored over 200 on one run. Really like the physics of the bee and how satisfying all the noises were, great job!

Nice work on Strawbee! Taking the essence of Flappy Bird and adding a little (strawberry?) zest to make a Flapbee Bird is a great way to get a finished game down given how you just had the weekend.

Man I hate myself for spending so long on that sentence 😭

You have lots of room to keep going. Keep updating that todo list

Fun game! I loved how the gameplay interacts with the music. Pretty creative!

Fun to play! The background art is pretty, though the pixel sizes across the layers don't quite match up. It would look great with the sizes matched. Keeping previous score was a good shout. Overall neat work for 2 days!

The sfx when you pick up the strawberry felt in sync with the BGM, and if that was intended then good job! The art style is nice, the bee has some really nice animations, however the fact that the flower has larger pixels makes it look really jarring. The parallax background was also pretty well made.

Thanks for playing and commenting (>⩊<)

Fun fact: It's actually a coincidence that the BGM and SFX are synced, this is because my spawner runs at 60BPM (1 sec) and the BGM I picked happen to be at 120BPM, so if you get lucky they're aligned!

And yeah the flowers aren't good fit with the background, I will try to find some flowers with higher resolution for replacement and maybe also make the SFXs on-beat for real hehe

Really love the strawberry as an incentive to do a near-miss fly by to get score. The collecting sound effect also seems to sync perfectly with the bg music. I got 130. Really enjoy it!

I like it, the flap mechanic does feel good compared to many other flappy bird like games. Looking forward to your post jam updates that you mentioned on the page.

Very cool game, especially for one made in only 2 days, can't wait to see it more polished. Simple, cute and thematically apropriate

Submitted(+1)

Simple game, I think the background is very beautiful, but not something I want in a flappy bird game cause it kept dragging my attention off the gameplay. But maybe that's part of the difficulty!

Submitted(+1)

Simple but well done! I remember the flappy bird hype, so this is kind of nostalgic :) I appreciate it's easier than flappy bird though because that game made me struggle hard. The music is cute, the entire design fits the theme well obviously, and I LOVE STRAWBERRIES (so I might be slightly biased here).
