Words cannot explain how happy I am to make it outside the map after the new update blocking off all previous routes to leave the map.

Wonderful game, super clean gameplay, amazing art. Probably one of the best games I played in this jam. You can totally expand this and make full release

Submitted(+1)

Probably my favorite game in this jam. It's absolutely insane that a game like this was created in a span of one week. Had a lot of fun just digging around. I will agree with the others, some quiet music would have been nice to make the long digging sections more engaging (I turned on some anime to watch on the side as background noise tbh because it was just too quiet). But overall it was a great experience, each jumpscre took me by surprise and reminded me that this was a horror game after all. I also really like how the upgrade-progression feels, it seems that you can find the perfect amount of items to buy upgrades each time you go back up. Really great overall, well done!

This game is genuinely peak. Amazing art, Nice upgrade system that was worth going back to. The core mechanic while not unique was well polished, and the twist was enough to make it standout. Theme was well implemented. Atmosphere top tier. The only thing I can critique is that game could have used music at some points, and maybe there should have been a light upgrade. But overall, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks heaps for the kind words. This is our first proper attempt at a horror game, so to hear we managed to do well is such great feedback.

I definitely agree that music would have really added to the game. Audio has typically been our weakest link, but we're steadily improving, and to hear that the atmosphere was great means we're moving in the right direction! Huge thanks for playing our game and organising this Jam!

Wow this is one of the best game jam games I have ever played!! I loved everything from the elevator music, the fact that I could just dig for the love of digging, I loved all the weird artifacts, I loved the vibes! I LOVED THE SECRET DOWN BELOW! Thank god for the elevators and thank god for those sodas because THIS GIRL WANTED TO DIG. Don't tell Big Shovel about this game we don't want them getting any ideas!! Amazing work!

Developer

So glad to hear about how much you enjoyed absolutely everything!!! Thank you so much for the kind words!!!!!

Submitted(+3)

Truly amazing atmosphere that you were able to achieve with this! The progression was good as well and everything was really immersive.

I don't know if it was just my settings, but sometimes the sound effects could get a bit loud. Not a dealbreaker, but just enough to be noticed.

Otherwise, great job, and congratulations on finishing the jam!

Developer

Thanks so much! I'm sure our artists will be thrilled to hear that the atmosphere was great, they spent a lot of time honing that in.
Good point with the loud sfx, we will pay more attention to equalising all of them in the future and adjust these ones after the jam is done.

Getting to the freaky part was freaky! Oh man nice setup. Interesting progression.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing! Glad the freaky part freaked you out, you're game was loads of fun too

You guys make reaaaal hard to find critique here... I think in a longer release you could up the prices or give me more to upgrade? but this was more than sastisfactory, the grapple is insanely fun, and i wish i had something to do with it, maybe break up some sections with some platforming elements? only critique is the music! there isn't really any, and i kinda wish there was at least a muted track for when i'm digging to help carry me to the next story or gameplay beat.

This is phenomenal honestly, and you guys should be incredibly proud of what you've made here.

Developer (1 edit)

thank you so much!!! the team would totally be down to look into music choice if we take this further! loved the stream!! glad you had fun swinging arounddd :))

Wow awesome work!

awesome game, very imersive and made me scared sometimes

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! so happy to hear you enjoyed it :) sorry about the scares hehe

I really like the atmosphere and the tutorial at the beginning , it makes it easy to lern how to use the mechanics. You seem like a great team to achieve all of this in just one week. Great job!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for playing!  We're just lucky to have a bunch of people who are totally down to grind out a game for 7 days straight!

Genuinely scared me on the first playthrough and after my first 40 minute run i decided to push to beat the game as fast as possible. the atmosphere and aura that each floor brings is something that made me want to continue playing even after I had finished my first playthrough, 3 hours later my time is 4:57.23 , loved playing every second. Developer(+1)

This means so much to me! This was my first time ever designing a horror game and I truly couldn't tell if I made it scary at all. There is no better compliment than someone speedrunning your game, I can comfortably say you're smashing my time, and I'm the guy that placed everything...

Thanks heaps for playing!!

Love all the details, like the missing persons flyers, it's really atmospheric game, and goes in a different direction than excepted. Extremely positive impressed.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a bunch for playing, I appreciate the comment! The missing posters are all our amazing devs on this team so I'm glad you liked them.

As a poor solo dev I am so envious 😭😭😭

Developer(+1)

Despite being a solo dev you did a real good job with your game, that's something to be extra proud of. If you took away the artists and programmers I worked with, I would hardly have a game  😭

I was a little confused at first on understanding what the upgrades were, I hadn't realised the shovel could be upgraded for a little too long, however once I realised this I made quite a good bit of progress. Unfortunately, I had hit a potentially game breaking bug whilst trying to return from one trip at one point, so I'll have to try it again later on and give it a full try, however the atmosphere was very nice and I loved the datamoshing effect (I think that's what it was intended to be, though regardless a very nice effect)

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed what you got to play, sorry that you ran into a game breaking bug! Whether or not you do come back to finish it I really appreciate the comment and the feedback!

This game was a lot of fun. It has a great atmosphere, I loved the graphics, the gameplay is really entertaining, and it scared me a couple of times. A really great submission for the jam!

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear that you really enjoyed all aspects of the game! Thank you for the kind words!

Submitted(+3)

I loved holding the shovel. That said, it's a bit long for a Jam game but is a nice entri.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Guess it was a bit on the longer side for a game jam game haha.

Our artist appreciates that you enjoyed the shovel!

Cool... Eyes jaja

Submitted(+3)

Loved the shadering and the graphics, it makes the game more scary. Congrats to the game!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Glad to hear it added to it! Thank you!

Submitted(+3)

I like the atmosphere. Didn't expect it to have jumpscares and the first one got me baaad. I reached a final red room, with the elevator there, but after buying all the upgrades, nothing in store, I don't know what to do and how to trigger it. I tried digging heavily to see if there s a path or something, I don't know, maybe I missed something.

Developer

Yes hahaha the first one seems to be quite effective!

It sounds like you did miss a path, I'd recommend having another look in that elevator room and see if there is any other new paths. There is a definitive end, which you'll know once you reach it.

Good luck if you try to finish it, if you still need any help feel free to comment more!

This looks like the complete game and a 7 day gamejam submission. A lot of people worked on it and it shows. From the graphical fidelity to an atmosphere this is 100% winner.

I would love to see a windows version, also I manage to dig too deep and stuck at the bottom (?) so maybe a hook could be a little bit stronger so you will always drag yourself to the point of intact?

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!!! Very happy to hear our team's efforts are visible!

Unfortunately we cannot upload a windows build during the Jam, however we already have one ready and will be sure to do put it up afterwards!

As for the hook, you should be able to get out of any hole with it however yes it can be a bit tricky/lengthy at the base level, we'll be sure to take another look at it!

Thank you very much for the kind words!

Submitted (1 edit) (+3)

Really good game! I got to the second area and almost got the drill too, the first jumpscare too really got me hard

I'm amazed how much was done for 1 week time, you guys did fantastic ^^
I will say though the game was surprisingly laggy, I wish there was a windows build so I could do it without the lag

Developer

Haha glad to hear that you enjoyed it!

As for the lag, have you checked that you have graphics acceleration on in your browser? If you have it off then the game will likely not run as well as it should.
