Another one! Yes! What can I say, this theme was very fun.

This is absolutely a minesweeper game, no question.  but it's held back strongly by a lack of a proper interactive tutorial. if you had started with a single match 3 goal and only 3 mines total, for instance, we could have come to understand how it works intuitively.  And the next step probably would be 6 mines match 4? And after that, maybe the first level you have currently.

I started to get the basic idea of what was going on after 5+ minutes of messing with it, but that's too much. I do hope you give it another try, I love the mashup of different genres here.

Developer

That's honestly a great shout, I'll go ahead and do that.

aint no way the number represent the mines in 3x3 space of it. maybe the it exclude the mine in that space itself, so its 8 space around it instead of 3x3. and overall lack of tutorial or explanation really hurts

Developer

The mine excludes itself, yes. I hear you though!

An unexpected combination, it took me a while to figure out the mechanics.

Developer

Thanks! I really wanted to get weird with it

I don't understand what I am supposed to be doing. Once I accidentally cleared a mine but I'm not sure how. What do the numbers mean?

Developer(+1)

The numbers show you nearby mines, like in Minesweeper! It's basically match 3 but using Minesweeper mechanics (and you can only match mines)

It is pretty. I'd recommend toning down the CRT effect a bit though as it makes it hard for my old eyes to read.
I still don't really get what is going on. A tutorial or some basic help instructions would really help.
I feel like I've had mines next to 0's before -- do they count diagonals? Showing the mines after you lose would really help me understand how the game works.

I really love the radar even if I can't get it to work for me :)

Developer

Done! And I'll tone down the CRT too. Let me get a new build up for you in the next couple of hours...

Wow awesome, honestly that made all of the difference.
As it turns out, I was trying to match 2, somehow thinking I was supposed to hit two mines together, now it seems obvious I am trying to match three bombs. Just showing the bombs at the end made all of the difference in figuring that out!
Also with the CRT effect reduced the graphics you made really shine better :)

Developer

Interested to see if this qualifies as a Minesweeper - I wanted to push the boat out a bit conceptually with this one.
