I really like the heroic chord progression and the way the track keeps a strong sense of momentum. The mood shift around 1:03 into something darker also works well. There are some interesting ideas throughout, and it’s an enjoyable listen overall :)
Yo Alex, love that you focused on creating a really strong melody with those horns. They're blasting the melody at you and it really feels in the spirit of the melody jam. Nice submission!
nice work. particularly enjoy the section that starts at 36 seconds, feels like enemies marching over a hill.
Cool track! I like those trumpets, like it really sounds like theres a battle thats about to start. Good job!
This really fit the theme. Sounded like we are going to war! Gather the swords! The melody was nice and I liked how you passed it to different instruments. Solid orchestration. I like the bell in the beginning. I did something super similar because I wanted something to sound like a anvil being hit.
Really gave me that sort of vibe that I get from music in 90's fantasy/adventure tv shows like XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS, really good vibes liked this a lot!
Mix/orchestration wise, everything felt like they were seated on the right except for the taiko, which felt a bit odd to me. Maybe having some other orchestra instruments play lines or doublings in the left side of the space as well could help make it feel more less hollow in everywhere else but the right side.
Good work!
Thanks for the feedback! I've never really thought about the right/left thing, so I'll keep it in mind in the future. I also finished this relatively quickly so I didn't fully orchestrate it, which is probably part of what made it feel hollow.
