Hello! I am looking for feedback on my project. It is inspired by Vampire Survivors and Binding of Isaac.
I am mostly trying to figure out how "fun" my game is.  There is a survey you can answer attached to the game's  browser page you could answer, but you can also just tell me what you think in this thread.

Sometimes that browser version can take quite a bit of time to load, but it always works eventually. There is also a zip with the exe that can be downloaded on the page

Hi, I was initially talking about how the game wouldn't load but it just took a long time is all.

I actually think that the gameplay here is pretty solid. I do wish the character were a little faster in this and move of all, i would really like if the exp following you moved just a little bit faster. It feels like it is a little too slow for me, especially when I want to get to the next level soon. I liked the upgrades and abilities offered, but i would prefer a more transparent overlay rather than being taken to a new screen everytime i get upgrades or level up. Also, I don't necessarily like the walls of text in the unlocks screen, it could be made more concise with the ability to hover over certain words and figure out what they mean. But the actual abilities themselves were interesting and fun to use and i enjoyed wandering through the map to get away from the enemies like in vampire survivors. The only thing I really didn't like were the sound effects. Sorry, but they are quite annoying to me and the sound balance was pretty bad at the beginning. I don't know what was said but it was very loud. Some of the sounds weren't bad at all, but overall the sound design could use a lot of work

thanks for the feedback. Greatly appreciated
the sfx and vfx being overwhelming is something i've especially been worried about.

is there something of yours i could provide feedback for?

oh yes actually, I am working on a game and would like to hear what you think

Just played the game. I didn't super understand what was going on for a lot of it and died a lot to start with, but then i just played it slow, and won relatively easily... though i never really understood what my objective was. Kill all enemies on level 1.  Didnt really understand what i was doing on level 3 either

i wouldve liked to be able to click on the starting page to select the level with my mouse.
some of the UI is a bit confusing imo. Maybe because its unexplained. But took me while to realize what any of it means - like how one of the shots shows a charge bar on the bottom left.  Didnt realize i had active items for a good while either.

I like that the enemies require different attacks to kill them + I like the ninjas little dodge animations

Hey,

The game took forever to load, but probably because it's in the browser.

First thing that I noticed when selecting a character is the "random" text below the character, remove it, just have a character with "?" and change it's name to random. I personally think that character name should be under the character, not above.

I won't comment the visuals, it's clear they are not that great. But I get the vibe.

Wording. When levelling up, you have options like "Fragments plus", "Healing plus". Just do "Fragments", "Healing", and on hover it explains it clearly. I would probably also change "Gather radius" to "Loot radius", or just "Radius". You currently have to press the + button to level up. You should probably make the whole skill thing a button and remove the +.

The character moves very slow. I got bored very very quickly. I was supposed to go somewhere, but I just couldn't be bothered.

UI was quite confusing. In pause menu you have a navigation on the left and on the bottom. These are not best UX practices.

Being a bit harsh, but realistic. Hopefully this information helps.

Best of luck,

Remi

And I agree with the other person, sounds were indeed kinda annoying at some points during the game. Some were loud.

Thanks for the feedback!  For feedback, harsh > sugar coating things.

I definitely like the idea of putting the names of the classes under the class. Same with removing the + buttons.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your overall experience with the game was boredom?

For the movement speed, maybe there is some tweaks to be done there since i do want the game to feel somewhat fast and frantic, but can I ask if you've played vampire survivors or other survivor games? And if so, do you think the speed in my game is slower in comparison?  Of course this isn't to say, what works in those games will necessarily work in mine. I'm just curious

And please do comment on the art if you find the time. There is definitely some stuff that's not final, but im sure your input on it will give me stuff to think about. (be as harsh as you want)

thanks :)

I gave it another try. Here's a little bit more feedback.
When the game loads, you are met with 3 options: menu, start and tutorial diagram. You have a problem with wording. Your options should be "New game",  and also have "Continue" if you have an unfinished run, instead of menu it should be "Settings" or "Options". If planning, for a desktop version also add "Quit game" or "Exit". You need to do some research first. Look at other games. When a player starts the game for the first run, do a very quick tutorial. No need for a tutorial option in the main screen.

11 minutes. I don't get it honestly.

Gun module Upgrades screen: instead of one big block, have 3 separate cards, and increase the clickbox instead of having to specifically click the icons to select the upgrade. Add some spacing between the cards, make it easier to read.

The art visuals don't fit well together. I am walking, there's a road and I can't tell if I can go through it or not. I didn't feel anything special about this game. The enemies are bland and just look bad. Game over screen is terrible. I did like the upgrades and the way some enemies shoot projectiles.

All I can say for now. Will give it another try in a few months if you continue developing it 🙂

Remi

thanks for taking another look. I appreciate that you're really looking at the menus and ui

No worries. I just hope that the harsh feedback did not discourage you. Hopefully this makes you a better game dev 🙂 GL!
