The art is great! You did a lot in a short time frame. The gameplay loop is also great. I would have preferred more uneven stats among the hunters we got to choose. Do you plan to expand on the game more post jam?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying it out!

Yea the initial stat differences didn't get balanced after iteration. But i see how stronger differences could lead to more interesting gameplay. I'm currently working on another project atm, but would love to come back to this or work on it on the side

The art looks very nice, especially the cover art! And I was surprised to see there was a rails/cutscene section to the game which I think is really cool idea. I think the balance could use a bit of tweaking, it felt like the risk reward for spending experience points wasn't really worth it, so ended up just using a bunch of level 0 hunters as cannon fodder until I built up enough exp to make one OP hunter, which made watching the cutscene a bit redundant. Still a really cool idea though, definitely something worth expanding on, nice submission!

Thanks for the feedback!
Def looking to pushing this further beyond the jam. Balancing was def a struggle as I was starting to run out of time. There was also supposed to be an inventory / equipment mechanic to make the losses hurt more.

Will also have to look into the rail/cutscene if there鈥檚 a way I can add a speed up/skip or make it more interactive.

The art was delightful - specifically I loved the Phantom. It was horrifying and somehow super colorful even with the limited palette you used which I thought was wicked cool. Great game!

Developer

Thank you!!! The phantom was really fun to design and was my favourite to do, so glad it got some recognition.

This is a nice concept for an incremental or idle game.

With some sort of passive mechanic to earn additional skill points, the player could stock up then go on hunts and hopefully compound their earnings.

Nice work!

Developer

Thank you!!
Hoping to be able to push the concept a bit more with some polish later down the line.

I really like the concept. I also like the names of the hunters. Took me a minute to register that I couldn鈥檛 control the character. You had made it clear in the instructions for the game but I still tried to hit the direction keys. Really enjoyed the game once I figured out how gameplay worked.

Thanks for trying it out!

Yea the tutorial was a last minute push and didn鈥檛 get to add much. Def going to allow for more time and try to implement one as I go next time

Cool idea! I reached the bounty but then my character just stood there. Maybe the character realized it might be better to find a new job after seeing the monster.

hmmmm yep did not test the spider boss oops.
uhhhhh actually the hunters all have arachnophobia and freeze up yup!!

The limited palette looks great. The whites and reds really pop, and the sprites look great.

I think my character was fighting their way to the hunt monster, but I ran through many rounds and never saw one. I didn't feel like I was progressing. I was missing seeing the character's stats (upgraded stats, souls currency, health).

I like this loop. The player is repeatedly fighting their way trough a horde before finding their target. It reminds me of Vampire Survivors if was fully autonomous and had quests.

Thanks!!!!

yea I鈥檒l have to dig into the loop a bit more and see what was going on with the progression. There was going to be a side quest and inventory system but had to be cut.
