Very self-explanatory, and I enjoyed the dropping/picking up candy mechanic. I was a little frustrated only having 1 candy and being unable to buy anything at the end of a level, and it took me a bit to realize that my tape = pieces of candy at the end of a level. I was really distracted by the pentagram symbol, was wondering what it was for?
Anyways, loved the art, thought it was really fun to play
Interesting idea for a racing game! It wasn't quite clear to me for a while that the tape on my horse was what indicated how many charges I had for the whip, and it took me even longer to realize that picking up candy would refill it. Maybe there's a better way to indicate that. I also really couldn't tell what the indicator on the left side of the upgrade screen was showing, and if that had any effect on anything. But other than that, this was easy to pick up. I like games where you get to go fast :)
Nice game! The horses being pinatas really helped with the game being very intuitive, picked it up quickly. Lovely art. I like that the candy falling out when you hit your horse brings some level of strategy to a very simple game. The upgrade system (More specifically, when I can or can not upgrade) was pretty opaque, but it doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things.
I really enjoyed it! It was nice and simple and easy to understand, and a fun challenge! The art is lovely, and the upgrades were a good addition, although I wasn't too sure how the different coloured candies affected what upgrades you could unlock. Great work!
graphics and music are quality. parallax backgrounds are nice. some dynamics were a bit stiff, eg changing lanes coolldown made of feel hard.
Nice mechanics and beautiful art style!
I did not really get how the upgrade cost work.
This was neat! I liked the theme and the simple mechanics, though the need to run out of steam felt a bit frustrating at times.
I was way more invested then I thought I would be. Nice work.
Interesting little game. I usually enjoy these types of games where the main core is repeated but we are able to upgrade our player with better gear. I like how the points we get for upgrading are the number of lives we have left when we finished the race. However, I felt a bit injusticed for not having the points from the previous races. This game can have the potential to create really interesing dynamics, where I'll sacrifice my 1st place in order to have a better horse/piñata in the next one. Either way, great concept for the jam, all the elements you have are working well together :)
The artstyle and animations / UI in this game was the highlight for me, liked the bears riding the piñatas. Mechanics were interesting and I quickly got the grasp of hit to go faster but don't hit too much, didn't quite understand the upgrade system though. Really nice!!
No idea how the upgrade costs worked, but otherwise this was awesome! I had a lot of fun with it. Nice work!
Interesting design for a racing game, picking up the candies your opponents leave behind to grab more boosts, and in the end, more cash for upgrades . . .? I think? Works well as a 5 min game or as a proof-of-concept for something larger :)
I wasn't sure why I couldn't put more than three sweets on my horse upgrade.
Also thought the hitboxes for the sweets could be a little more forgiving.
This was really well done! I played through all the levels and got a gold in most of them :) The core mechanics were very intuitive and racing was really fun! What i liked most was the artstyle - really cute characters, backgrounds and the even the menus and powerups were really well done! The sound design was also good and the background score fit the gameplay very well. Progression was smooth and the game felt quite well balanced. Just one thing i could not understand immediately about how it worked was this - does the type of candy required for powerups matter or is it just the number of candies? i felt later on that it was just the number which mattered since i was able to take some powerups when i didnt have the indicated candy type. Other than that though everything was very intuitive! excellent work :)
I have been looking forward to seeing the game since seeing your previews in the discussion posts - this is so cute! I like the trade off between going faster, winning, and saving the candy for upgrades. I think that was a fun use of giving the player a dilemma of choice. Love the art!
It was bit hard for me to understand the game
