Nice and very strong entry!

Towards the end of the first level, I had thought that "hey, this would be cool if there were shooting enemies", and was gladly surprised by it having the next level! And the third level was blast!

I think this game rewarded positioning, flanking, and flow control nicely. Would like to see a longer version with more to do!

This could be expanded to infecting the whole world. Very cool idea. Add some special zombies? Maybe have the player as patient zero on the level too and when he dies, game over? So many things you can do with this. Nice job!

Really fun idea that I don't think I've ever quite seen done before! There's not much about this that I think was done wrong. I was confused by the movement at first, but it quickly made sense the larger the horde got. I think there could have been a more satisfying, bubble-wrapp-poppy sound and visual when turning a human (probably not a literal pop sound, but something that evokes that feeling). I really enjoyed this! Great job :)

reverse They are Billions, genius!

Hooray, I made it to the end!  It was easy to figure out how to play.  🧟‍♂️

The 3rd level was running pretty slow (web version). I'm sure the downloaded version is smoother.

This game entry is simply amazing. It ticked every box. There is a zombie episode of Love, Death and Robots called “Night of the Mini Dead”, and it just felt like that, a zombie tidal wave smashing into survivors.

I’m a big fan of the zombie genre, and I’ll say now this will be my favourite one in this jam!

Splendid work to the team that made this! 🧟🧟‍♂️🧟‍♀️

was very cool concept, experienced it getting lower frames with each level

loved everything about this game, except it was almost trivially easy, is there a way to lose?

I feel like the fact that your horde carried over between levels reduced the difficulty of the second two levels. imagine if you had to take over the army base starting from one zombie, how much more deliberate you'd have to be (at least at the beginning)

Very much self-explanatory!  It was very addicting building up a zombie army.

On the first level, I was a little bored once I understood the mechanics.  And I actually thought "It needs someone shooting back or something.." and lo and behold, level 2 was exactly that, and level 3 built on it further.  Each level was more fun than the last.

The music was fine, but it was a little monotonous after a while.  I think there needed to be additional sound effects, like the sound of humans being eaten, etc.

It was a very smart decision to have the camera zoom out based on horde size.  I really appreciate that design decision.

Overall, very cool.

Really fun incremental-like game. From one musician to another, the music was really on point! I would love to know what sample libraries/processes were like behind making such a cohesive orchestral track.

Nice, clear concept. I liked growing the zombie swarm. The level design could improve by making more clear good/bad choices and some more penalty for making bad decisions.

thank you so much for the feedback and playing! you made some really good points in the video

This felt like an incremental game, scratches that itch. I would say that the initial difficulty can be hard, depending on how you choose your path but the next 2 levels were just "travel anywhere you want and increase the horde regardless". Felt like there was no consequence for going without thinking

thank you for the feedback! i definitely agree, its something im thinking about for future iterations

This was fun! It was pretty easy to figure out what I was supposed to do, although the first punching guy definitely gave me false confidence. I thought the humans were going to be easy pickings and then immediately got humbled lol. The simple art style worked well, and I liked that I could tell I was moving toward more populated areas and eventually a kind of last-stand situation without the game needing to explain it. The zombie movement was the only part that got frustrating for me. Sometimes when someone was near an edge, I couldn’t tell if I was doing something wrong or if the zombies just couldn’t path to them very well. I almost wonder if dumber/more predictable zombie movement would actually feel better for this kind of game. Also, the lose screen having the same cheering as the win screen confused me for a second. Overall I had fun, and I was weirdly committed to getting every pesky human I could find.

Nailed it.

PROS

  1. Game was legit fun.  Growing that zombie horde was incredibly satisfying.
  2. Sound and music was great.
  3. Art and visuals were clear.  Animations were fun to watch.
  4. Level design was great.  Clear visuals provided me with opportunities to pick optimal choices and take risks.
    1. Example: I knew the barbed wire and mines would impede progress so I pathed around them until I realized that my horde was big enough to tank some of the hits and chase down the gun-guards.

CONS

  1. Zombie responsiveness got a little mixed up with the pathfinding but that could have been my error.

FEEDBACK

  1. I wish there were ways to upgrade the zombies.
  2. I wish there was more zombie variety or variants.
  3. I wish there was more levels and content.
  4. More progression.

Conclusion

Easily a top 5 game in the Game Jam in my opinion.  With more work, levels, progression, upgrades and visual polish this easily could be a Steam Game for the RTS genre.  Even better if you can make it multiplayer and color code the zombies for 2 - 4 players to take over a "Mission" or "Challenge Map".

Also this would make for a decent mobile game with one UI joystick on camera pan and the other joystick on the zombie-marker-control.

Very good entry for this Game Jam.  Well done.

Developer

thank you so much for the kind words! expanding is definitely in my mind :D

Easy to understand concept and gameplay. Growing the horde is fun and satisfying however as others have pointed it does feel a bit mindless as in there is little challenge offered back, our zombies just seem to be able to overwhelm really easily even against the shooting guards and landmines.

The simplicity of controls did leave me wondering if there were some other "hidden controls" that i wasnt aware of for example i was trying to click to understand if something would happen like boosting zombie speed or splitting the horde.

Music is fitting and gave a nice goofy ambience. Definetly has some potential of growth trough some level progression and challenge ramp.

I played the Web Version which also lagged a little bit but it wasn't a consideration to my rating.

Good job!

Well-chosen music and the gameplay is really intutive and self-explanatory. Watching the horde grow is fun, and turning people quite satisfying.

I didn't enjoy the game myself overall, which may in part just be because I'm not a fan of zombies, but I think I felt that it became a bit tedious quite quickly. The first level felt too long for there being no pushback  - you are just collecting people until you've filled up a bar, with seemingly no pressure. But even in further levels it felt that the challenges were somewhat irrelevant. I was never at risk of losing - the horde always absorbed enemies quicker than they could shoot me, and the enemies themselves activated their own land mines (which is funny, but meant that I didn't struggle with them one bit.)

Once this was clear it felt too much like I was controlling the mindless horde quite, well, mindlessly. But I note that others found the game really fun and it may just be a genre that I'm not familiar with and don't get much out of, so this could definitely be a case of me just not at all being the target audience.

thank you for the feedback! the balance was definitely something we worked on and would continue to iterate
