I like this game, a simple and effective platformer. I don't know if it's me who didn't find a way but I didn't like having the controls on screen the whole time.

I think the interesting part was the level design, I can see a lot of the first obstacles are meant to teach you about the mechanics and I prefer it that way. At first I liked that the level had a semi-open design with some areas being accessible from different paths, I regret that it only led to soft locking and not to different ways of getting the stars.

Developer

thanks the controls on screen are actually touch controls

Fun game, I too was little bit confused with the mechanics, but like the float mechanic.

I would say that I thought the first little part untill the drop became kind of simple once the mechanic is shown. The extra verticality of the double jump and the float I think could make some really cool level design.

Forcing the player to move down to the danger instead of relying on staying as high as possible.

Would play more though,

Developer

thanks :D

Fun game, took me a bit to figure out the float/double jump. It might be more intuitive for the balloon to float down slowly without holding up, and use down arrow to fall faster.

The art is cute and i like your use of spikes, the natural enemy of all balloons :)

Pretty little platformer with nice controls & feel. The use of abilities was intuitive and the floating ability is very cool and fits well with the baloon character. The light & shadows adds good finesse to the simple and coherent visual style.

I hope you further itarate on it and keep working together (:

Developer

thanks so much :D

Cool little platformer! It feels pretty well tuned to jump and dash around, so great job on that. I did find that I ran into a lot of cheap deaths that were pretty much out of my control when transitioning between screens, and it took me a bit to figure out I could dash into the breakable blocks to break them. But other than that this felt surprisingly solid. Great job!

thanks i agree we could have spent more time on levels and polishthanks for playing :)

Nice platformer :) The game is interesting, but the controls are difficult to figure out :(

I enjoyed the general controller feel, and the movement style was self explanatory, I don't think you even needed the tutorial card! It would have been helpful to keep track of the stars I've collected in the UI, as after dying, I wasn't sure if I needed to go back and collect it or not. When I first started, I hit the spikes and it lagged a bit as some effect was loading in - however it felt like I could successfully squeeze in between the points of a spike, and it felt kinda cool, given I was a balloon, maybe a fun idea to play around with.
Here's a playtest

thanks so much :D it was are first time working together and we were kinda rushed sadly otherwise we would of tried to polish more

PS it dose have touch controls but you cant use them with the mouse

An enjoyable little platforming adventure!

My main criticisms would be that the double-jump/float mechanic was really unclear to me, I only really understood the float near the end, and once I did, the whole game seemed to become extremely easy (Of course tuning for difficulty is pretty difficult in a jam!).

Also the art is pretty simplistic.

Developer (1 edit)

yeh... it was are first time working together and my first time making a 2d platformer thanks for playing

Unfortunately I couldn't figure out the controls, so I wasn't able to play it.

Developer

:( yeh we could have done better with a tutorial thanks for trying

Took me multiple attempts to figure out all the controls (was confused why there was buttons on screen that did nothing, I assume they're for mobile) but once I did the adventure was quite fun! I liked the feeling of the boost movement and there was some simple but nice level design. Although I got a star then died, went back to get it and it wasn't there but at the end it said I only got 2 stars. And I enjoyed the fun designs of the enemies which were also effective in letting me know they were dangerous :)

I really enjoyed this! Simple, but satisfying! The controls are nice, clear, and responsive. Everything's clearly signposted (I know what things will / won't kill me). Brill! I only wish there was more!

Developer

thanks so much :

This was fun, the controls feel very satisfying, and the mechanics and level design are pretty interesting.

I thought I got stuck or the game was unfinished when I came to the section with the white blocks, but then I learned about the dash from the comments here, and went back to get all 3 stars!

that was super great! this is like the first entry where I actually enjoyed the gameplay, I can see that everybody put their main efforts into the level design and it actually showed! I liked how fun everything was from the art to the gameplay mechanisms, this is one I would actually find myself playing for the gameplay of it all. fun beat too, that was awesome!

I spoiled myself there was a dash by reading the comments. Even then, took me a while to figure out which key was it. Same with the floating mechanic. Still, it was quite fun and the controls felt responsive.
The levels were fun to move around using the mechanics, and the megaman-like single screen view felt appropiate. The last part though had quite a lot of leaps of faith, which felt a bit frustrating. I died almost 6 or 7 times just to discover where the safe spots were, compared to  the earlier sections in the game where I did not die once.

Overall, fun little game with responsive controls. A couple adjustments could improve the experience a lot (specifically around level design)

Fun beats! It took me a little bit to figure out how to float and dash. But once i got it the game was kind of fun!

Submitted(+1)

I figured out the dash after some button mashing, never figured out the float though. Still finished the game

Developer

thanks i agree we could have made it a bit easier to figure out buttons, but my brother and i only started work on it late in the jam and it ended up a bit rushed, thanks for playing

Nice little game! I got myself stuck and didn't know about a dash until I read about it from a comment here, so I must have missed it somewhere along the way. I think a more linear layout to the map would have been nice, given I must have missed a point where I should've gone first and ended up soft locked? Nice game, enjoyed the bumpin tunes :)

Developer

yeh i think it might have been nice if it was a bit more linear

I liked the idea of choosing to fall slower as a way of navigating certain problems. Unfortunately I could not figure out enough of the controls to get myself unstuck from a low area to get more than 1 star.

Developer

yeh we probably could have made things a bit simpler thanks for playing

Submitted(+1)

Well done! I think optimizing the routes will make the gameplay smoother. I don't like backtracking, and it would be great to add some hidden areas as well.

Tight platformer controls with a metroidvania style map!  I enjoyed breaking thru the bricks with the dash ability. Did you make it part of a tileset or is it sprite based? I wish I added this feature to the tileset bricks in my team's game  :)

Developer

the platforms are tile based but the Bricks are sprits, thanks for playing :)
