The art style was really cool, and the music was fitting as well. The controls felt a bit floaty, and the shooting would probably be much more satisfying if it was faster.
I didn’t understand the bubble mechanic at first (guessing it might be some way to trap enemies, or make temporary platforms), only when I restarted the game I realized it’s basically a shield.
On my first run I got stuck in a section upstairs, e.g. respawning between sharp bones that I couldn’t jump over. On my second run I just stayed downstairs and made it to the boss, which was easy to beat and didn’t feel like much of a challenge (I just had to dodge the projectiles and keep shooting upwards).
It has very nice 2d art and color and the music fits well with the alien/jungle style.
I could not get through. The first boss is challanging, but not in a fun way. Maybe I missed some essential upgrade, I ran into the boss unintentional very early. I had no feeling for where I had to go.
I like thedirectional shooting and the yellow stuff with the thing which requires it to unlock upgrades. I can't tell what it is, but it feels intuitive.
No you're not missing anything, you should go to first boss to get upgrade behind it.
sorry - tried to run it and all I get is a play button I can't press.
Hit enter to start
Yes, click enter to play the game. I thought people would understand such simple button.
There's some stuff here I really like but it didn't make me want to keep playing much after failing.
The art is charming and I particularly like the backgrounds and some of the enemy designs. The way the character gestures left and right as they switch directions is really funny and genuinely made me smile.
The bubble mechanic didn't feel very intuitive, the room which "taught" it didn't seem to require me to use it, so I never really learnt what it was for. I like the "pollen" pickups as a concept and they felt nice to receive.
My biggest control complaint was firing upwards, which depending on which horizontal direction you'd previously moved in... this could be a neat control quirk to master in a larger more complex game but here it felt very frustrating compared to just letting the projectile go from the centre of the character upward.
Jumping felt a bit floaty and like it didn't have much character. I think later I probably needed the bubble mechanic to get past some environmental challenges but I just didn't know how to use it by then.
