Nice looking game with minimalistic but very fitting music and game controller support.
I like the theme and the abilities. Too bad there are no checkpoints. Didn't make it far after double jump. Maybe post-jam.
The punch felt a bit short ranged and not so readable.
I could not figure out the controls. Symbol-based tutorial would have helped a lot.
I love the art style and vibe!
I didn’t like the control scheme, having to lift my finger from the D key to attack with E felt fiddly and limited my movement (could be avoided by also supporting arrow keys).
I also didn’t like that you have to get very close to enemies to kill them, while the “foam” is spraying very far and obscuring a lot of the screen.
These things caused me to die often in a way that felt pretty random, and so I gave up after a couple of attempts, but would have enjoyed exploring this game a bit more!
Shrimp approved! Shrimptastic game
I really liked the art on this one! There were a lot of game feel things I thought could use some improvement though. Most of it is general platforming feel, like coyote time, variable jump height, and a floatier camera so jumping around isn't quite so disorienting. A lot of platforms were also placed at really exact heights, making it easy to miss them when I thought I had jumped as high as I could, so I assumed I needed another upgrade before I could reach them. The bubble animation for the attack also extends significantly past the actual hitbox of the attack, making it unclear where the hitbox is and a lot more difficult to land. And I thought the screenshake on enemy death was confusing, and especially when combined with the death sound for the little fish, I kept thinking I was taking damage. I loved the varied enemy designs though, and I thought it was really clever at the start to have the plant push you into the pit where you get the jump upgrade. Great job!
I'm a big fan of the pistol shrimp, and this little metroidvania. I got far enough to get a double jump, but the lack of a checkpoint made restarting a little painful. I'm not sure if it was the closeness of the hitbox, or the bubbles distracting me, but I never felt confident about punching and not getting hurt. Pressing the E key while using WASD was challenging as well. I really liked the main character, the crying animation, and the snail shell guys. I found it all quite easy to understand
Here's a playtest!
Thanks so much for playing, and for your great feedback! Glad you liked it, we had a lot of fun making it.
Very cool Game! I Really liked it in many aspects, manly in responsiveness, sound design, pixel art and Enemies design.
Since I think game jams are more about getting feedback on what to improve than knowing whats good already, I now list some difficulties I found:
- Hit box of punch was too close
- Hit box of enemies (to damage player) were too pixel perfect
- Some of the bubbles were not clear to me as to what I gained.
- E and Q as controls for WASD movement made ir strange to use.
I liked the art direction, shrimps are very cool! Having "E" as the punch can be a little awkward when using WASD. Being forced to start again from the start after dying stopped me from finishing the game. But still had fun
I really like the shrimp idea! Great tutorialisation, and vibes - nice one.
Well done! I loved the underwater style and sounds but struggled losing every puzzle/mechanic and stopped after 4 deaths.
I can shrimpathize.

My shrimpathies, but we do appreciate the note on difficulty!
Thanks for playing ❤️
