How does your game fit the Theme & Boss Battle Edition?
In HEX-DUEL, I flipped the traditional "Player vs. Boss" trope on its head. Instead of fighting an AI monster, both players are the Ultimate Bosses clashing in a high-stakes duel for power and control.

The gameplay directly embodies the theme: each boss wields a massive Hex-Shield which is their greatest strength for blocking attacks, but rotating it forces them to expose their vulnerable cor-making their greatest power also their weakest point. Combined with shrinking arena mechanics and heavy bullet knockback, it delivers a pure, chaotic boss-battle experience from start to finish.

I focused heavily on Game Feel and Physics. The bullet collisions don't just deal damag- they generate physical recoil (knockback), allowing players to strategically use momentum to dodge or push their opponent into the shrinking death ring.

Special Community Event: I launched a live TikTok challenge for this game! Players are uploading clips of their local duels tagging @doronk100 to win an asset bundle. Go check the chaos!

Note: Developed as a local 1v1 multiplayer game. Best enjoyed with a friend on the same keyboard!

Good idea making a multiplayer game, played it with my friend and had some fun!
Maybe the game lacks a bit of general polish, for instance consider adding a main menu in the next update.
Finally i don't really see this game fitting the jam's theme.
Overall a nice change of pace in the jam, with a bit more polish this could be a very fun experience.
Very good job! 👍👍

Nice idea! I had no one to play with, so couldn't really fully rate it in terms of gameplay. I would consider adding some more movement options, maybe some kind of dash and ability to also rotate your shield clockwise. As others said, some sfx woulld be a great addition. Other than that, great entry, good job.

The games looks good and well-done, but unfortunately I don't have anyone to play with :(( So my suggestion is to always make a singleplayer game for the next jams, so that everybody can judge and play it :)

Nice job on your jam entry! 🎮😊

For something made in around 15 to 20 hours, this is a solid little game with a clear idea, a complete game loop and a good small scope.

I liked the 1v1 boss duel concept. The background track also worked well and gave the game a nice atmosphere 🎵, although I think I recognized the music, so just be a little careful with copyright when using existing tracks in future projects. Officially, copyrighted music should only be used if you have permission, a license, or the proper rights to use it.

A few constructive tips for next time: some SFX would help a lot, especially for shooting, hits, shield blocks, damage, and arena danger. Also, because this needs two local players, not everyone in a game jam will have someone nearby to play with. For future jams, you could maybe add a simple single-player mode, AI opponent, or training/test mode so more people can fully try and rate the game.

As mentioned in another comment too, I did not really notice the knockback while playing. Maybe it was there, but it could be made a bit clearer or stronger. Upgrades could also be really cool to add in a future update or in another version of the game.

The theme is definitely present, although it could perhaps be pushed a little more so the you are the boss battle feeling comes through even stronger. ✅

Overall, I  had  fun to play. Good work. Keep going like this! 🚀💪

Hey GoedWare,

Thank you very much for your feedback and rate! It really helps me for the new game I'm working on now. I 'm so glad that you liked the game, and receiving such detailed feedback from you is a huge honor. I just wanted to clarify about the knockback because it wasn't most clear at the instructions of the game- the knockback only happens while to bullets crash each other: then both hexagons are pushed back a little bit. Then, if you want- you might play the game again to notice the knockback

From all the above, your feedback was essential, and I'm so glad you enjoyed! Good luck for the next jams you host.

And for the last line, I want to tell you that no matter which rank I will be and which score I get- I had a great experience.

Thank you very much!

Sincerly,

Hey there, so I played this game and unfortunately I had no one to play it with so I wasn't able to judge it fully gameplay wise. However I do like the concept a lot, I think its great idea and a foundation for something solid. The movement felt solid and the minimalistic art style of the players was great.
Here are some points of improvements / future suggestions:
- The game lacks SFX and game feel overall, I think shooting the player should have SFX tied to it, and maybe some particle effects + screenshake to really convey the feeling of being hit.
- A tutorial would always be nice, teaching both players the controls of course.
- I couldn't figure out how to do the whole knockback feature for some reason😅, I shot the player but I never got knocked back.
This is just a personal preference, but it seems like the battle takes place in space, so for the movement specifically adding lesser friction and making the player drift in that direction might be cool? This of course is if the battle takes place in space.
In the future you could always add more bullet upgrades, health upgrades, fire rate upgrades, etc. This game can be expanded on to something great! So good job on the game jam entry and good luck for the future of this game!

I love the 1v1 multiplayer game idea — it’s simple but really entertaining. Great work!

Hey man,

Your Idea of make one boss x another boss clashing to se who is the real boss is really great, it's the first one that I saw that made this.

My feedbacks:

I think that you could have used SFX instead of just a background music.

Also, other movement options would be a great add to this game

Congrats on submitting your project
