Hmm so I understood that I’m supposed to cook stuff and follow the recipes on the wall, but every interaction was really lacking in feedback and feeling very confusing.

First customer orders a burger. Right, there’s a box of hamburger patties, but nothing happens when I press E so I suppose the guy next to it wants gold first. The only thing that looks yellow in the room is a box of round yellow blobs, but when I try to give them to the guy they just float in front of his body.

At this point I thought the game was bugged/unfinished and was ready to give up, but after reading the comments here I realized that what I thought was “gold” is actually the “money” stone in the cash register. So now I was able to make the hamburger and the “fries” for the next customer, but then on the third recipe (a soup of raw egg and nuts?) I couldn’t figure out how to get the white stuff out of the mortar, so at this point I finally gave up after all :)

Hi, you're right! There are a few things that will be fixed. I can tell you that you can use the smaller container for the egg and nut mayonnaise. (The box on the left of the storage unit).

We'll let you know as we improve the game. Thanks for the feedback!

I got a big old thumbs up, so I think that means I won, haha. This was a pretty confusing experience for the most part, I found myself second guessing every action because I never felt sure that I was holding the right ingredient. Is the symbol on the wall a potato or a loaf of bread? Is this an egg or a chestnut? That kind of thing.

Systematically, it all works surprisingly well. Even handling stuff like being able to mortar and pestle two ingredients at once, I wasn't expecting that to be possible but it was. Having some small minigame elements included definitely made the game feel fuller, and they were all good additions. For a game jam this is already feature complete, and really does feel like a fairly full package, but some ways it could be expanded on more is if the minigames had some timing requirements like lining the knife up properly or needing to spin the pestle fast enough to get a reaction, but that would have A) be kinda overscoping a jam and B) might cause more issues with communicating how the game works, so I dunno.

Hi! I'm so happy to hear your feedback.
I also love the ideas you shared, and I'm sure they'll be added to our game.
As for the ingredients, we're aware of them. After the game jam, we'll have added text and improved the 2D and 3D. We'll keep you updated on future additions to the game!

It took me a reeeally long time to figure out that the big guy guarding the meat wanted my stone money. I actually already closed the game and deemed it unplayable, but then I kind of got angry with myself by being too stupid for stone age trading and started it again!
I liked the mechanics, but I think the optics of the ingredients (and the above mentioned stone) were a bit misleading. I have no idea what that one yellow thing next to the eggs was supposed to be, and overall the potatos, that thing and the eggs looked too similar. Once I figured out how to play, I was able to beat the game easily. Albeit the walking animation was great to watch, I would have wished for new customers to appear a biiiit faster (they were probably just exhausted from all that hunting and gathering..)
My first two customers appeared to be unstatisfied with my meal quality, they simply collapsed and vanished - I am not sure if that was a bug or if I poisened them or something?

Overall, I liked the idea and the design, the music was fun and fit the derpy movements and style of the cavemen. With a bit of polishing and some fine tuning in the level of stress (multiple customers, customers that get angry when you don't hurry up, ect..), I think this could be a great little casual game :)

Hi! First of all, thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate your effort to carefully evaluate our project. I have to say, you nailed it! Initially, we really wanted to have the kind of game with a stress factor (like a good pizza, great pizza). During the development of the game, we had some small setbacks, and out of fairness for all the game jam participants, we decided not to go over the time limit. However, you're right; there are some small errors that are easily fixed with a little polish. When the customer rolls on the floor (ragdolls), it's because they're unhappy with the preparation 😂.

We would have liked to have added more sound effects and even more instructions. You did the two preparations correctly; it was just a development error regarding the cooking time.

I'm extremely happy with your feedback and thank you again. I'd love for you to join our team. We're a group of passionate people, and we're all cultivating this passion.

thank you - I thought the meat was bugged.

Unfortunately I think this game was just trying to be something a little bit too complex; too many possible types of interaction (with not enough guidance/feedback for each). Lots of signs telling you what to do with what, but I was moving things around, putting them on boards etc. pressing E all over the place and none of the food appeared to be processing.

Games are fractal. Good quality games are made up of tiny good quality minigames. I think a good reference point for the type of thing you were trying to do "i.e. Overcooked but first person" would have been something like the potion brewing minigame in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2; a few different things to do, but without all the dead time wandering around between stations, and too many operations which don't have any animation/feedback etc.

Hi! First of all, thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate it. Initially, we wanted to create a game with a stress factor (like Good pizza, great pizza). During the game's development, we ran into a few small hiccups, and out of fairness to all the game jam participants, we decided not to exceed the time limit to fix them.

In short, the idea of the game was to emulate some of the dynamics of some cooking games I've played, and it also needed to include a stress factor. (For time reasons, due to the hiccups, and to make the demo less demanding), we preferred not to expand it too much.

As for the random placement of items, that's intentional. In the larger game, it's the player's job to be organized so they can deliver everything correctly. When we finish the refinements, we'll adjust the placement of objects exclusively in the work area.

If you've encountered issues with chopping, cooking, or delivering, unfortunately, that's normal. We were supposed to fix it, but that infamous glitch didn't work... I hope you enjoyed the game concept and that you finished the game.

We will keep in mind your advice and the references you gave us.

Thank you again for your feedback.
