Wow this was cool! The whole story and presentation was impressive, very polished. However I had no idea what I was doing when connecting clues together. I had an interesting time with the game nonetheless!
i really enjoyed this. the plot is quite good i sadly failed to solve the crime
A nice detective game with a great aesthetic. Dind't solve it on my first go, but will try again.
Man, this one is complicated. The text is not too hard to understand for a non-native English speaker, but putting everything together in the time limit is a challenge. And I kinda liked it.
The artwork is clean and pleasant to watch. I like the parallax effect on the title screen, it's a tiny detail that makes a difference.
I'll try your game again later someday !
I thought the idea of connecting the clues together was awesome! It may have stumped me on how to actually put them together, but I had a good time playing!
I loved the parallax effect on the main menu—it's a detail you don’t usually see in game jams. Starting from scratch and creating a detective story is an achievement on its own. Congratulations on sharing your work!
Thank you! We certainly learned a lot from this project 😁
I love that the menu shifts a little with the mouse motion. That's such a cool bit of attention to detail. As for the game the story was good. And I want to play it a few more times to uncover all the dialog. I think I won? It was hard to tell and I might have accidentally put them all away as the murderers. The part with the book wasn't as clear for me, but I still enjoyed playing the game and had a fun time.
I was stumped and didn't find the endings after many tries, much like everyone else haha. So I won't repeat those feedback here.
At the start of the game there was some text, but it couldn't be skipped or continue with the mouse, only keyboard, which was a bit weird. I also would have slightly changed the names of the characters, or give them more familiar-sounding nicknames, or something else. I know you were going for a more fantasy settings, so I understand why those names were chosen, but it's kinda confusing when reading the clues and interrogation as to who's who.
I really loved the art, the music and the dialogue with the characters! Their strong personalities really shine through in the game.
However, I wasn't sure if I should try all the options for each sub-dialogue, because the buttons appeared to be disabled but were still clickable.
And even though I understood what I was supposed to do in the journal, I didn't really know which pieces of the puzzle to put together, especially the ones involving two characters.
I couldn't find the solution, but I had a lot of fun and would love to play this game again with a bit more guidance for the parts I didn't quite get. Also, it's a small detail, but I really like the idea of the dynamic main menu that reacts to the mouse.
I can't quite get to the solution!
The presentation is very nice and using the theme of the jam to make connections in a murder investigation is a great idea.
The music is suitably tense, as is the timer which gives a sense of urgency while still being lenient enough to be methodical in the investigation.
I feel like I've exhausted all the possibilities in the dialogues, but a crucial piece of the puzzle eludes me. I'm guessing it has to do with this, which I can't seem to progress:
We definitely could have made the journal entry part of the game more clear 😅 That entry is meant to help piece together more of the story, and also let the player know that you've unlocked a new dialogue question with Grothek. Some of the unlock questions with each suspect are hidden within questions you already asked, which we probably should have just added the new questions to the first list of dialogue 😅 Thanks for playing and thank you for your feedback, it's much appreciated!
I really liked your story. As other said, I missed the guidance on what a threat means and how they affect the game state (does a placed thread unlock a dialog option or does seeing the entry in your journal unlock it? Also, it would be good to have dialog options from entries in your log surface at the top of the dialog tree, not somewhere hidden in one of the combinations. i tried several times to get to a the dialog option if a person said something and never found it, though the card said to ask him about it. I really liked how the game feels and would love to playa more polished version of it.
Loved this detective game! Like other comments mention, it would be nice with some more information regarding the red threads and connections. Overall a very fun game!
This was such a fun little detective game. I love the aesthetic you guys went for, visuals and music fit really well together- also the audiofeedback of removing threads felt satisfying. Definetly something I'll take away for my next detective game ;)
I wish there was a little more guidance. While a lot of the game is rather intuitive I think a tutorial page would have been helpful. Overall I loved the connection mechanic in the journal and the character + storywriting was neat. Good job :D
Thank you for taking the time to play our game! We definitely agree with everyone's feedback on more guidance for the player to solve the case 😅 This was a lot of fun to make and we appreciate all of the helpful feedback! 😁
Wow this was so exceptional! Really impressive how much you all were able to accomplish for a jam. I agree with the others on the confusion of the strings but moreso that I was feeling lost with the fact that a lot of the entries didn't feel like things that needed to be connected, but overall the mechanic makes a lot of sense. I absolutely lovve detectives games like this, and you guys are clearly great at making them. Great work!
Thanks for taking time to play it! We definitely agree that it needs to be more clear on how to solve the case 😅 If we were to make another one of these, that's definitely something we'd want to prioritize for sure 😁 It's been a lot of fun to make and share with everyone, and we've learned a lot!
Loved the vibe and setting. Art and UI are super polished. The journal and red-thread board look great but felt a bit hard to read at first. Would love a tiny bit more guidance there, but overall this was really cool.
Great vibe and aesthetics overall. I especially really liked the art style and how it helped build the atmosphere of the game. The game feels well made and polished.
I do think it could use a little more guidance at the beginning to help players understand things faster, but overall I had a good time with it. Good job!
Great vibe and aesthetics. Well made but could do with a little more guidance / training on how to carry out the investigation. Case cold here :( Congrats though!
Insane AAA quality game! I loved it!
I really like how layers of images moves when mouse is moved in the title page, overall UI, and characters. However, it was hard for me to understand the journal part. Great job!
Really cool concept and prestine artstyle. It was also interesting to switch back and forth between the three characters. I do want to point out however, that it is really unclear what to do with the red thread and the evidence as there are so many different ways to intepret the thread and also infinite combinations to connect them that it seems completely impossible to find the right setting. or did I miss something?
You're not missing anything, we were running tight on time and didn't have a chance to adjust the journal lol There is one win condition where you have to link 3 pieces of evidence to whichever suspect picture you think is the killer 😅 Thank you for taking time to play our game and leave us feedback, we greatly appreciate everyone who's tried our game 😁
