This is great, giving me Loom vibes (an old PC game, check it out if you haven't heard of it), very melancholy and moody.  I love the puzzles but I got softlocked at the cube pushing puzzle where I managed to push it too close to the floor and couldn't find a way to reset it.  Outside of that, the puzzles were a lot of fun to solve.  I dont know if you would be interested in it, but I could totally see you turning this into a horror game.  The light mechanic was a lot of fun to work with and practically begging to have some monsters that chase you the weaker your light gets.

Great game!

I like this game. It has a retro Zelda vibe, but with a sorrowful, bittersweet tone.

The light mechanic is interesting, but in practice, I find it more of an inconvenience to have to go back to a statue over and over.

I also didn't realize until near the end that the branches were restoring the light. I thought it was a bug. There should be some communication to the player that they restore light, and maybe a bit of lore.

Speaking of lore, I really liked the story, and would love to know more about what happened and why we're in the situation we're in.

This is a very interesting game, and would love to see it expanded upon. Great job!

I liked the mysterious vibes, and I think discovering the mechanics such as light, the pickups, the safe zones played into the theme of mystery and exploration. Great job!

The overall effects are really nice. The puzzles are also designed well. mechanics are also cool. However few things I would like to add are maybe increase the player speed a little bit. There could be more puzzles added and puzzle solutions are a little vague, maybe more environmental instructions to the puzzle would be a good addition to the game. One more thing you could do is have some entities which chase you in the dark to intensify the game environment a bit. there could be shadows that haunt you. There is currently no drawback of going into complete darkness which is fine for a jam but for a full game it might be a little unsatisfying to bring the light back. I had fun figuring out the puzzles.

Loved this. Excellent use of shaders, ambience is very good, had me feeling caustrophobic lol.

I love the aesthetics and the idea of restoring colour to the world! It reminds me of The Giver, but in a fantasy setting. I hope I am not the only one old enough to remember that novel xD

Pretty solid game! I love the theming behind it and the narrative got me hooked! The gameplay's simple but quite fun! Though I'm not a big fan of the way the light mechanic works. I feel like I have to go back and forth to the statue. There are objects that I could pick up and gain the light but it wasn't obvious at the start (perhaps a bit of glow or something on the object would help?). Other than that, still an epic game! Great work!

A game built around the idea of a world where colors have disappeared, and restoring them to bring light back to life, is truly fascinating. The concept is very creative, and the way it’s translated into gameplay is impressive. It creates a unique atmosphere while keeping the player engaged through beautifully designed puzzles. Definitely a memorable experience. thanks for submission

Very cool game!
I liked it a lot, couldn't go past the 3rd level, since I couldn't find the tip on how to set the switches.
The introduction to the mechanics on the first level is well done.
The only other friction point I had was the labyrinth on the second level, as I didn't figure out that I had to got on the path that seemed locked from the leaves at first glance. It took a while to find that solution.
Overall, a great game

Thanks for trying it out. I wrote a little guide in the previous comment if you are still interested in seeing its conclusion. I was a little unsure about the tree placement in that labyrinth and should have listened to my gut on that one. Sorry you got stuck! Glad you enjoyed it though!

Oh great! I'll go and replay it then, thank you!

Developer

I was doing the audio... and doing the concept with Skarl... Skarltar did most of the actual work though lol. So i got to experience the exact friction moment you're talking about in level 2... i agree'd with you at first... but after see'ing a few people almost get lost and die there.. but make it just in time... i felt like... a little butt clench is a good thing haha... So i never included that in the fix notes... I can definitely see your point of view on it. Let's see what Skarltar says xD (Expects mockery).

The third level is definitely more of a challenge.... i died a few times on the first attempts. We tried to get people to playtest and balance it... and its also.. how hard did we want it to be? Perhaps for a gamejam.. the third level was too difficult...

Thanks so much for taking the time to play it and for the honest feedback!

all the best.

I absolutely loved this game. Didn't however manage to do the 3rd level as I couldn't find out how to flip the switches in order to open that door. Also couldn't find the key for the 3rd door, on the left. Graphics were very familiar as I love that tileset and I think you did a great job playing with the deminishing light. Would love to try again, but could probably do with a hint in level 3.

Will post the timestamp from the stream later.

Thanks for trying it out! The switches were all arranged on the 4 buildings in the top centre of the level. two of them were at the top on either side of the locked room with the chest inside and the other two were next to the obelisk in the centre. Essentially the colour combination for it is spread out in 2 spots. One set is near the safe zone at the start and the other set are in the graveyard. The order corresponds to the order the hints are displayed in sets of 2.
I really need to make a guide or at least a little hint book to help when people get stuck. The last thing I want is for people to get frustrated! Really glad you tried it out though! Thanks so much!

Edit: Also worth noting that the little sticks lying around everywhere restores your light. This helps so you don't have to go to the safe zone all the time. Also you missed all the audio. Maybe you had the volume too low? But my team mate was a sound designer so all the music and sound effects were done by him. Just like restoring the colour, you also build up the music loop with each pedestal that is unlocked.

Developer

Thank you so much! I  will look forward to seeing it on your stream! I'm happy you enjoyed it.
Tips for level three... are... there are four lights with a corresponding 4 switches.... but they are located in different spots :) you can honestly cheese it a little once you know you have two correct. It is similar to the  switch puzzle in level 2... except its 4 switches instead of 3 :) The colours of the switches become seen once you have enabled either the red or green tower. Those four switches will take you to figuring out one of them... The other is... look for something out of place in the graveyard.... :) then its  just the puzzle room with the boxes. :)

i loved the light spectrum mechanic, especially how it played into the puzzles,  really cool!

I loved how unique the light/health system worked keeping the exploration exciting, awesome Game!

Developer

Thank you so much! We wanted it to really have a almost oppressive feeling of the fire running out and some panic kicking in.. and then vibes! haha

Fun game, felt like time had been spent to make the levels well paced. Cool concept, lighting the coloured pillars reigniting the visuals. Felt like a puzzle part of a indie JRPG.

Developer

Itt was a sort of blend of a JRPG and my favourite gameplay loops in the Long Dark. The coloured pillars also restore the different parts of the soundtrack as well as the colours :)  Thanks a lot for trying it out!

This is a really effective presentation. I wasn't sure at first what the gameplay was, but in the end was impressed with the use of maze and puzzle features to make it challenging for the player. The only point where I found myself frustrated was finding that last key, not realising that I needed to solve the colour puzzle twice to find it only after searching everywhere else for it. Nicely done!

Developer

Thanks a lot for giving it a shot! I'm glad the final level presented a challenge but you got there! It was supposed to be a bit of a boss level :)

Developer

I am glad you liked it! I definitely need to add a guide to help people when the get frustrated. Thanks for trying it out!

It is a faszinating idea and implemented harmoniously. Colors, Music and sound were very fitting. The smaller gettig circle added greatly to the atmosphere.

Developer

We really wanted the bleakness and terror of travelling in the darkness trying to keep your torch alive as the main vibe of the game. I'm happy you enjoyed it, thanks for playing. We were loosely inspired by early zelda games and i recently went down a deep rabbit hole of playing "The Long Dark"

I enjoyed the pixel art and colors! The light fading mechanic is pretty cool. How do I know if I beat the game? Is it when all the altars are activated?

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Currently, you essentially have to activate each of the RGB colour pedestals for each level, then activate the final fourth pillar in the middle of the map to complete the level :) There are currently three levels. The game should prompt you to let you know that you have successfully restored light to the world :) Thanks for trying!

Really liked the lighting effects and enjoyed the overall style a lot. It helped give the game a really nice atmosphere. Great job!

Thanks for playing it!

Nice job - keep the fires burning - keep on jamming! Nice atmosphere through light and sound. Great stuff!!

Thanks for giving it a go!

Great game, I love how the world gets darker when you are not near a safe zone, very atmospheric.

Developer

Thanks for giving it a shot.
We wanted it bleak and ominous so you'd really notice restoring colour and audio to the world! :)
