Visually, you nailed it. The stylized graphic are just so well done. The animation works. Everything builds a fantasy world. The gameplay, I struggled to be able to play, but I killed few ghost, wandered the map! Great job, it must have been lots of work.

Nice, and I love the character model! I think I saw you posting it the the 3D art section, well done! I find the character a bit slow even when running, and it lacks some kind of feedback when hitting the monsters, I wasn't always sure I hit them correctly apart from their lifebar. Congrats on your first game jam!
I always enjoyed slaughtering things in the noob zones in MMOs - this had that essence to me. I love what you did here and I sure hope you continue. I almost made it to level 4 (3.6?) and I died, returning me back to lvl 1. Hardcore. ggty!
I had fun playing this game. I love action games, so I immediately jumped into it because that genre is already something I enjoy.
The concept is cool, and I liked the idea of fighting beginner monsters that turn into souls and can become stronger if you hesitate too long. That gives the game a nice sense of pressure.
My main feedback is that I wish there were clearer feedback when fighting the ghosts. Sometimes I was not sure if I was actually dealing damage or if my attacks were connecting. A stronger hit effect, sound effect, health bar, flash, or knockback could help make combat feel more satisfying.
I also think it would be cool to have another attack or ability to change things up during fights. Even one extra move could make the combat feel more dynamic.
Overall, I enjoyed it. For a first Unity game and first jam entry, this is a strong start. I would love to see where the game goes if you continue working on it in the future.
This is a great game for your first game jam! I really liked the anime vibe. My constructive feedback would be to add better player feedback when hitting the monsters, and it also takes a bit too long to find some of them
Well done! Nice game :) I couldn't fully enjoy it cause I played with a mousepad and it doesn't really work well in this game, I might come back from another device.
"Oooooooh, there once was a hero named Ragnar the Red
Who came riding to Whiterun from ole Rorikstead
And the braggart did swagger and brandish his blade
As he told of bold battles and gold he had made"
Ok, let's be real, this game fucking slaps, I love the simple level design with a gorgeous view, all I can really criticize is the slow movement and sensitivity issues for large screens (32 inch 2k res), also I don't like shift for sprint as I have to strain my hand more to reach it, but otherwise it's a solid game and a splendidly executed concept! Would love a continuation of it ;)
Great job on your first game submission! It was good fun. Overall, I like the direction of the game and where it's headed.
Unfortunately, with the size of the map, I wasn't able to kill enemies frequently enough to see the connection binding mechanic that you talked about on your page. I also wasn't able to figure out how to get a heavy attack, which, it sounds like, some people really enjoyed. On your submission page, it might be helpful to suggest switching to full screen (It's the only way I can get the camera to work properly), and maybe you could post the control schematics.
Ideally, I think it would be awesome if this tutorial aspect of what the goal was and what happened was in the actual game, maybe before you hit start. But these are minor little things.
Great first submission!
Thank you for your review, appreciate it very much.
I did just do a bug fix so that should fix the camera issue.
I also put some images up so you can kind of see how it works, to join souls to make new monsters.
Running out of time (have to travel for wife's college graduation), so I don't think I will be able to update the controls section but appreciate you taking your time to write. :)
I could only really get it to work by click the itch full screen button and playing in the small window.
Fun idea, the heavy attack felt costly which is good - went into the swamp at level 2, bad idea...
I don't know why but I felt happy playing this game. Maybe because of the choice of music and the bright scenery. It reminds me of those mmorpg I played years ago where you have to farm and level up.
Im not sure what im supposed to do but here are the issues
- Im stuck in the beginning area, and I don't see any option to get through the door.
- And I also don't see anything else to do on the island itself. The hill behind the house just clips with the player and i could walk through it lol.
- The camera only works in 180 degrees for me, it doesn't orbit 360 degree.
But I love the art and aesthetic. The character animation feels smooth. And music is great! I'm sure there's more content to this.
UPDATE:
The game finally works now! It seems that the game works fine when i play in a windowed screen.
- Character animation is super smooth, in all walking, running and attack.
- And the environment is well-built.
- Music is really good!
Great job! Sorry for the long text of bug above as I wanted to play the intended gameplay that the creator did.
The environment on this is quite good. I was wondering if it was set up for a controller though cause it looks like camera direction is tied to the mouse which can make it hard to see. I was rewarding to see the exp bar go up as I defeated monsters.
I am a little confused on what is making it difficult?
Is the issue the cursor not getting captured so it is difficult to look around, or is it not sensitive enough for you?
Another comment said something similar, trying to understand the issue, those are the two I think sound the most likely.
If it is just capture, if you click off the screen and then click on it will capture the cursor.
Thank you for your comment, appreciate the feedback. :)
I had a few issues playing the game. It's not super clear where to go and what to do. With the controller, it looks like I can't attack? Maybe I missed the correct button. With the mouse and keyboard, I can't control the camera correctly. So I tried to play with a mix of the two, which is a little problematic. Nonetheless, the game is a nice exercise, considering it's done in 10 days, it's a lot of work :)
Uses mouse and keyboard, aswd for movement and left mouse click for attacking. Light attack you press quickly and heavy attack you hold a little longer. There is some cursor mouse capture issues with browser, I should be able to fix that as a bug fix if that is what you meant.
No mobile or controller support at this time.
For game play it is mostly open ended. Kind of like games like stardew valley or don't starve where you kind of run around, upgrade and explore. You can run around and gain levels, or try to merge monster souls by killing monsters close by and they will connect and merge becoming new and stronger monsters.
Thank you for your comment I will update description to say controls and game play a bit better.
