Visually this was pleasant to look at, and I liked the level design. The world feels interesting, but I was a bit lost and didn’t really know what to do or where to go. A small guide or minimal UI with directions/objectives would help a lot.
I love the map you've built and the combination of 2D and 3D. It would be cool to see a fully realised game in this world!
Nice try, it's okay not finishing your game, we can still see the amount of effort you dedicated to it, and it's overall very cute!
Nedds some love, would like to see where this goes in the future.
A detective game certainly fits the theme, cool map in such a short time
Thank you, I was equally excited about it's outcome (the map).
I walked around, found a nice yummy cake, went to the beach and got some tan... I need some quack vacation! 😎☀️
As you mentioned, the game is not finished yet, but it would be nice to see what you guys would come up with for more mechanics! I like the spritework you guys have there too!
As a suggestion: I would lower the horizon a litle bit.. while this angle helps being in the eyes of the duck, it's really hard having only half screen to explore the map... allowing some camera movement to look around would enhance it too!
Otherwise, it's a great starting point for something cozy!! Keep it up! 💪💪✨
Thank you
Good you said that you used generative AI for the textures ; not sure you needed that, though.
Overall, your game is really not finished. I didn't go far, just past the bridge where the camera collides with the floor, and I found a strange invisible slope heading to the can machines, and when I'm "up there" and walk back to the sea, I fall down through the water into infinite nothingness.
That's too bad, because the base idea was interesting.
The duck goes very fast, and the map is vast (too vast). Really bad that you couldn't add one or two interactions.
The duck's sprite is not mirrored, which is a nice attention to details (thanks AI ?).
The controls are strange as well (and they're not given anywhere, so we have to guess). The movement is mapped on the keyboard but not on the controller.
Maybe your scope was too large ? Maybe your team was too large and you couldn't communicate smoothly ?
We definitely did have issues with the scope, and the team was mainly asset makers.. Also the sprites were all make by our members! Thanks for the advice.
I tried to swim but fell trough the water :O
I can see the idea, the mix of different 2D and 3D art styles felt fun to explore around, but for the next jam you might want to put the scope smaller. With more time, this game can become something unique and charming :)
Agreed
Well i found the cake and there is some impressive level design!
Thank you
I found the cake!
Thank you for the game!
I absolutely love the idea of a detective duck! It's a shame we can't see how well Ducky will conduct his investigation, but it is an ambitious game. The design of Ducky and the town is also lovely. Plus, there is cake. Who can say no to cake?
Great graphic. Well done for making it work. Not completed, but its normal, the scope of this was amazing. Next time just a finish line at the end of the city: game loop done XD
sometimes the promise of a good game is more entertaining than a mediocre game that is fully realized.
You make a strong case for this theory.
Just the title and the walking animation, paired with that low-to-the-ground camera already have so much charm and character it beats out a lot of games already.
I'm a bit worried what the production time of a fully developed Detective Ducky game would look like, but I would certainly be interested in playing it.
love the art but bit confused on what to do
Great submission, but too bad you were not able to finish the game. I like the look of the environment and the birds. I liked how the sun reflected off the water.
Looks like it would be really cool if finished! I like the duck.
I think if the camera was slightly higher it would look nicer though
I think it would have been a great entry with all the features added in. I can see what your idea was for the game. Visuals were great tho! Plus duck
I agree, we had a good idea for the visuals, and I worked hard on that town.
5/5 DUCKS
YAYYYYY
Walked around, saw a pond - went into pond.
Now the endless abyss awaits.
Good job on the town design. I’d love to see the detective part implemented further in the future, since I couldn’t manage to find the food in-game :)
I worked hard on that town, thank you.
Cute town!
Thank you
