The idea to play not only a character is nice, I prefer happier games and stories but I rated it subjective. It’s a complex level design. Good work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for taking the time to play our game! Especially considering it is different than what you are used to!

Submitted(+1)

That is an interesting mechanic. It is not really my genre, but I found it very entertaining and well done. It might make the game even more interesting if you could throw objects as distractions somewhere, even if one of the goals is not to get detected.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah we are actually looking into distraction for enemies, but have not come up with ideas yet. I was thinking something like an alarm clock, but that is not really a throwable. Feel free to let us know your thought on cool props you’d like to see!

Nice game :D It's insane the story and all

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We really pushed ourselves on this one!

Fun game. Great graphical style. Oh, and the story is good also. As the barrel did nothing,  I forgot that other disguises could do anything either. Took a while until I read the controls-text on the bottom of the screen again while evading all the thugs - Mission successful.

Developer

Thanks for playing! The barrel is a disguise. So as long as you are not moving, enemies cannot see you.

Submitted(+1)

I liked the style and had a great time playing this one ! Have a nice day

Developer

Thanks for Playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

One of the funnest I played so far in 3D. I like the art definitely. Couldn't figure out where the dagger is. LOL but i morphed into a spring was awesome :D

just not sure how to get into the van, i guess I will have to terminal Jim before i extract.

Maybe, give more ways to terminate Slimey Jim would be awesome. like perhaps use spring to bump him into hitting a wall and end that way LOL

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! We definitely have lots of ideas planned for assassination techniques. One idea we failed to get in time was to burn him with a propane tank. We also wanted to drop a safe on his head. But we simply did not have enough time. So the knife is currently the only way to go. Regardless, thanks for the kind words!

Ridiculous premise, I love it. The item usage was nice, even if it was tough to figure out at first. Getting the job done felt great, even if it meant having to make a sneaky exit that I wasn’t ready for. Overall good job, and seems like you were doing a lot of work to get it to run in a browser at all!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We never originally intended for the game to run in a browser, but we realized that far fewer people would try it without a web version. Because of that, we put a lot of effort into creating the best web build we could. That said, the downloadable version still provides the optimal experience.

Submitted

It’s mighty impressive you managed! I struggle all the time to get my unoptimized 2D Godot games to run in the browser, especially when loading a new scene or level with a lot of objects in them. That’s why I find it so notable, cause it’s a tough and often thankless job.

Fun idea, nice graphics, overall a pretty fun game.

I think it needs some music, and some bits of the gameplay (e.g. camera, some idea of a target location, etc.) could use some refinement.

Otherwise a good submission, thanks for the game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing our game and the feedback!

We will definitely be actively updating it even after the game jam and will make sure to address the target location issues.

Submitted(+2)

I just wasn't entirely sure of where to go, ended up in a few dead ends (nice scenery though).

Overall I can see it being a really fun game with a bit of refinement.  The blending in and sneaking about seems somewhat inspired by the Hitman game(s), needing a slow and steady playstyle rather than rushing in.

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

You got it absolutely right, Hitman is one of our inspirations:)

We will make sure to update the level to make it easier to find you way around. Thank you again for the feedback, it helps a lot!

Submitted(+1)

Interesting concept, I wasn’t able to sneak past the guys.
I guess I’m not good enough.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! The game doesn’t really have a tutorial yet, and just throws you into the action. So we plan to make the introduction of stealth mechanics more gradual.

Submitted(+1)

Well, it's a cool idea and I appreciate the elaborate world you created, but I was just not able to sneak past the guys at all. 🤷‍♂️

I was playing the web version, which worked reasonably well for me.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Do you feel that sneaking past the guards felt unfair at all?

Submitted

Not exactly "unfair". But with multiple guards all looking in different directions, one of them always noticed me moving.

Most other people seemed to be able to play this game with no problem, so I guess I am just bad at it. 🤪

Submitted(+1)

I'm no good at stealth games and the enemies (seemingly) detecting me behind my back didn't really help...

But definitely a clever mechanic to be able to assimilate some object's look in order to hide!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks so much for playing! If you could, can you elaborate on ‘detecting me behind my back’? Im curious to see if we can reproduce the issue.

Submitted(+1)

We tried escaping in the black van with open back first until we read in the comments it is the white one xD

The ability switching was nice and the characters looked cool. Nice submission :)

Developer

Thanks so much for playing!

Great game. Would love to see it expanded with more levels and different objects/abilities. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing! We are absolutely gonna expand this more, so stay tuned!

Submitted(+1)

Really liked the game. However, I could run from people like indefinetely. Loved the special abilities for different morphed objects though.

Developer

Thanks for playing! When you ‘run from people indefinitely’, could you be more specific? Were the enemies running to you but never catching up? Were the enemies easy to outrun?

Submitted(+1)

Yes enemies were not able to catch up to me. I am not sure if that was intentional.

Developer

Thanks for playing! This is a known bug. But we do not have a 100% reproduction rate yet. Once we do, we should be able to narrow down what part of the pathing logic is causing the issue. Thanks for reporting!

Submitted(+1)

Really neat idea! The flow of the level to the target was very intuitive. Then I spent five minutes trying to find a way to get into the black van parked halfway in a building and not the white van that was the obvious escape vehicle.

The guards were pretty good at detecting me, but not so great at doing anything about it. For the most part they seemed content to shout "Hey!" and immediately give up chasing me to wander back to their patrols. Like they've seen a walking barrel before and only want to point one out if they spot it.

No music, but the rain sounds fit with the rain imagery. The spring noise and that yell when you stab as a knife are perfect.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing! That detail about the black van is helpful! Also, this was my first venture into enemy AI programing, so i definitely need to do some research on how to make them more intelligent. Hopefully, they will become more intomidating.

Submitted(+1)

I love the concept, the art style, and the whole Agent Slug vibe. I honestly wanted more. It felt too short because I was having fun.

The mission setup is great, too. Contract 01 being active, the target Slimy Jim, and the S.L.I.M.E. organization all give the game a funny but cool stealth-action identity.

The main thing I would watch is collision and cover behavior. I tried hiding beside one enemy, but he walked by and destroyed my cover, so I thought I was caught, but somehow escaped. I also managed to clip through the green door behind the big truck while exploring.

Overall, I had fun. The game has a strong concept, a fun tone, and I would definitely play more missions.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! We definitely wanted to have more in the demo, but we spent most of the time working on the core loop and aesthetics. The good thing is, we think this is very scalable and plan to start expanding into more levels, more characters, more morphing, and all sorts of things!

Submitted(+1)

game looks so much fun. sound effects, art style is 10/10. it lags on browser to the point that it becomes unplayable. i would love to try the windows build sometime, but i’m on linux right now. good game.

Developer

This is really interesting feedback. It honestly never occurred to me to make a Linux build. I know Unity makes the process pretty straightforward, but I don’t personally run Linux, so I have no way to properly test it myself.

That said, I’ll put together a Linux build and send it over to you. If you’re interested, feel free to try it out and let me know how it runs and how it feels on your system.

Developer(+1)

Ok, I have uploaded a Linux build on the main page. I was not able to test it on my end, because I do not have a Linux distro setup. But please feel free to give it a go!

Submitted(+1)

Thanks for uploading. linux build works much smoother than the web build. there is some stuttering at times i guess due to the rain. game is well built. it was fun 2x the fun once i got hold of the knife XD.

Developer

Great! Glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

Fun game, I could not figure out how to shoot though. Exploring around the map, going around the corners was fun ! I really wish the controls for jumping would be more visible, I really wanted to morph into spring and jump. A very entertaining experience overall.

Developer

Thank you for playing! We would love more specific feedback: what exactly was challenging about being able to morph into the spring? Were you unable to find it? Did the prompt for morphing not appear?

Submitted(+1)

I mean the jumping as seen in the GIF on main game page. I was able to morph into the spring without any problems by pressing 'F' near it. The prompt appeared near it, it wasn't a problem.

Developer

That’s actually great feedback. Right now, abilities are tied to left click, so with the spring, left click becomes jump. But most people are so used to spacebar being jump that it can feel a bit confusing at first.

We could probably fix that by letting both left click and spacebar activate abilities, so it still keeps the system consistent while feeling more natural to players.

Do you think the main issue was expecting jump to be on spacebar? Or was left click not activating the jump?

Submitted(+1)

I was expecting space bar to be the jump button.

Developer(+1)

Perfect! We will iron that out in the next patch!

Submitted(+1)

I played the game again and figured I had to jump on the top of the house, morph into the knife and eliminate the target. It was fun. nice work on the game overall.

Developer(+1)

Excellent!

Submitted(+1)

Definitely a fun game! I wasn't skillful enough to suceed in my assassination by myself, but then I found an exploit by multiple pressing 'F' while in despair of being hit, and then I was able to survive, check the map & the props and what needed to be done
Good work!

Developer

Thank You for playing! And thank you for pointing out the exploit!

Curious, when you say you weren’t skillful enough, do you think the game felt unfair at all?

Submitted(+1)

Not unfair at all! I was in a rush and didn't had the properly time to learn the patterns and play it through
