I feel like someone may have cheated on the leaderboards...
This is a fresh take on Snake! It's obvious in retrospect: just add trains and pirates and space.
I opted for the manual zoom out, which I think helped me a great deal. By default it's very difficult to tell what's happening around you even at the start as a single engine.
It was also nice to see that there were different color options to choose from, though I was fine with the default one.
The music is great, perfectly suited to the gameplay.
There were so many power up types and so many different buttons to push to activate them that I usually forgot I even had any, other than spray paint which I prioritized. Normally I wouldn't suggest this, but it might have been fine for them to be activated automatically upon pickup.
Heya, thanks for playing and feedback! I also prefer manual zoom. The controls are an issue we need to address, but I feel like instant activation reduces player strategy and agency during the waves :/
Yeah, how did that Nine-ball guy get such a high score? Bot maybe?
Keep this between us, but the leaderboard is hardcoded, and the names are hokey references to Armored Core and other games we like.I do agree, player agency for when and where to use power up is probably best. I was trying to find excuses for my own poor gaming habits. 😞
Don't worry, I'm on the same boat. The only power up that I use is Frenzy and the passive stuff.
Fun little game and visually pleasing. Plays well, good job! Reminds me of that browser multiplayer game where the big blobs eat the little blobs.
Thanks for playing! Our inspiration was a browser game, but it was slither.io/worm.io (big snakes eat little snakes). Although they're all very similar.
Pretty Slick! Great UI and nice mechanics. There is a lot going on very quickly but with enough reps you get the flow quickly enough. Very polished for the time we had for this jam. Solid entry for sure!
Thanks for playing multiple rounds! We're very grateful we can use existing assets. Our credit list is very long as you can see :P
Really great take on a classic game well done!
Cheers! hope you had fun playing :D
turning radius is a bit weird at the beginning but overall pretty fun!
Thank you for playing! movement does have a bit of a learning curve to it, but we're glad to know you had fun :D
Solid little game. I kept having to remind myself I was playing snake where you would lose instantly if you hit a wall or something else.
Thank you for playing our game! Hope you had fun :D
I absolutely did! I used to spend hours playing snake on a nokia. This was a refreshing take Haha
It really reminds me of my days of playing Curve Fever nonstop, and then snake.io. It's pretty cool and definitely has the potential to get you hooked!
Ahoy! We're delighted to hear you enjoy being a space pirate as much as we do. Thank you for trying out our game and leaving a review, we really appreciate it :)
This is a really great game. The game play was fun and there seems to be a lot of depth with the power-ups. The visuals are really nice and make the game play easy to read. The music pairs really well too.
Thank you for playing! we're happy to hear you enjoyed your time as a space pirate, har har har! :D
This game is amazing, great gameplay loop, good soundtrack, fitting sounds, and coherent visuals.
With some changes this could probably also be a good multiplayer game
I don't have any suggestions for improvements, it's a solid game
ahoy! thank you for playing and leaving a review, we really appreciate it :D
Of all the games I’ve tried so far, this is without a doubt the best in every aspect. Congratulations to the team!
Thank you for playing! we are humbled to hear this :)
This in multiplayer and my life is fulfilled.
ohohoho, one day my friend :)
This is such a fun and imaginative concept! I really liked the idea of starting as a simple cargo ship and evolving into a chaotic “train pirate” in space. The tone is great and instantly sets the vibe.
The core loop of matching cargo, growing your chain, and surviving increasingly intense onslaughts sounds really engaging and satisfying. I especially like the risk/reward idea where the bigger you get, the stronger you become, but also the bigger target you turn into.
The theme execution feels creative and memorable, and the “space train pirates” idea alone is already a standout hook. Overall, it sounds like a very strong and fun concept with a lot of personality. Great work!
ahoy! thank you for playing ;3
This is dangerously addictive for me.
Ahoy! we encourage frequent water breaks to keep our fellow pirate in tip-top shape :D
(jokes aside, thank you for playing our game ;3)
A very addictive and well done game. Liked the mechanics, the aesthetics, the music, basically everything. You guys should be proud of yourself. Great work!
Ahoy! we really appreciate the kind words, seeing people enjoy our game is what keeps us going! :D
Such a well made game. So much attention to details. Beautiful visuals with parallax adding so much depth. Fun music too. Suuuuuuper Game. You can potentially build an immersive story around it too.
thank you for playing! a full fledged pirate story is definitely a cool addition for sure, we really appreciate the suggestion. Maybe we'll even implement it for future projects *wink wink*
Nice! It's like agar.io with a twist: trains instead of growing cell, and color themed. If I didn't want to test other games from the jam, I could easily get trapped in yours :D
Thank you for playing our game! feel free to stop by again, more pirates always welcome! har har har :D
Longest I made it was 2 minutes but man, I could see myself coming back to this. Fantatstic work on theme, look, fun factor and the music
Ahoy! there's definitely a bit of a learning curve, but with practice you'll survive for 5+ minutes with no problem for sure. Thank you so much for playing our game :D
Holy smokes, that was an awesome game. No suggestions. You guys should be very proud of this project :D
Ahoy! really appreciate your kind words. We really put a lot of love into this :)
Our two games definitely have a conceptual common ancestor! I liked the slick sense of style, the effortless flow of movement and the catchy music here - zipping around hijacking color matches with wanton abandon was a good time! I couldn't keep track of all the keybinds in the chaos, maybe there's a way to simplify consumable deployment? I had fun playing and now wonder if Train Conductor Space Piracy could be in my career future 🤔You'll have to let me know what you think of my own take on Snake 🐍
Cheers! thank you for playing our game. I'll be sure to check out yours in return ;)
Looks like a ton of effort so well done. Lot of polish and a great little play
Thanks!
