It's funny, I was expecting more Vampire Survivors-style games in this game jam, but this is the first I've run into. And I gotta say, you did a great job. Really great aesthetics especially, and I love that level up screen. The game is also super fun and I didn't run into any bugs to speak of. Those bad guys may think they're tough, but that's only because they haven't seen the destructive power of my ultimate diagonal movement! I guess my only real constructive criticism is maybe turn down the music a bit by default, maybe by half. Good job on this one, thanks for sharing!
First of all, I loved the artstyle. Second: I sucked at your game, I was hoping a bit more shops or areas where I would be able to heal a bit :D Nice entry, good job!
Played it through to the end.
This is definitely how I'd imagine Balatro + Slay the spire map. Good job. Game would be extra satisfying with some particles / vfx
Fun game, I played it to the end! Nice work!
as a fan of vampire survivor, I approve of this game. Also, including an SMG and GREAT SMG is a bold creative choice, I also approve this.
Nice UI and the colors for aesthetics are quite fitting. Gameplay is good too ...
Hi! I am not quite sure what the issue might be but your game completely froze my computer twice. I am on a Macbook Pro. The first time it froze at the beginning of the very first level before the character could even move while the game was not in fullscreen mode and using Firefox. With all of the positive comments, I had to try again and it happened again a bit further into the first level, so I was able to move around and defeat a few enemies before it froze. This time on Google Chrome and on full screen mode. Both of these crashes were hardcore, I had to hold the power button on my computer to restart it. The keyboard shortcut for Force Quit options was not working either. It has not happened to me with any other jam game that I have tried so that is a bit of a bummer. From the little I could see I liked the art and the music though!
Hey! Thats a really strange issue you experienced. I will try to investigate it tomorrow and hopefully figure out whats causing the freezes, but I can’t promise anything yet. Still, thanks a lot for giving the game another shot despite the crashes, and I am glad you at least liked the art and music from what you could play!
Fun game!!
This is great, nice job!
The scope is admirable, and the music fits the mood nicely. I especially loved the character design! Adding some stronger damage feedback would make it even better. Excellent job!
I see a vampire survivor type game, I play the game, no questions asked. I definitely had fun, the art direction was rad, and killing waves of monsters is satisfying. Only 2 chances to shop was a big let down, and getting to the second shop felt like a chore with how weak my character felt. Some of the spawn locations felt outright unfair, showing up right in my only path to escape from a mob that was chasing me. If the limited shopping is a design decision, you need to give the player more options for avoiding damage; as of now it feels pretty unbalanced. Good fun!
I had fun playing the game.
Nice game, I especially like the art!
Impressive game! I love your art style, the graphics are juste incredible! The music is also stimulating and immediatly draws you into the game.
I liked the idea of the map for choosing your progression, but it was a bit confusing at times. The character was sometimes below the map markers so I couldn't see where I was, and I also had a bit of trouble to understand where you can go. Maybe highlighting the entirety of the possible paths would help.
It also wasn't clear to me during my first run that weapons are cumulative and that I wouldn't be able to go back to the merchant to heal between fights- which led me to take some radically bad decisions x)
But that may be because I am not very familiar with this kind of games, and it felt natural on the second try.
The game is incredibly well balanced. The battles are extremely enjoyable and challenging, without being frustrating. And there is also a nice choice of items and weapons, which make it fun to play it again.
I think I belong to the few people who don’t like this genre. Nevertheless, I played a few enjoyable rounds. I like the graphics and the music ,they are very fitting, just like the depiction of the world overall, it feels very complete. What, and thats only my personal opinion, i would find really nice would be some overlay while you getting damage. Some pulseanimations from your HP or hover effect maybe that would make it feel more complete in the visuals. But neverless a really well made game, it works well and feels overall complete
I absolutely agree with your opinion above, and thank you so much for it.
Unfortunately, quite a lot of things that were actually planned for the game ended up defeating us time-wise, and yesss — the effect you mentioned was indeed one of the planned features. But with the amount of things that still needed to be done, made it in, or sadly didn’t make it in, the idea for that effect simply got lost along the way.
You can be sure that if we continue the project, keep improving and polishing it, your feedback — along with all the other fair and valuable comments here — definitely won’t be forgotten, and we’ll remember it :) <3
I’m really happy that despite all that, you still had a good time playing.
The soul looks sad. Really cool visuals and music matching, but the game is really hard! Was fun and I made it through 4 fights.
Yep — I can confirm, it’s hard. Even I needed quite a few attempts before I finally managed to beat it ;] (Thanks, Pemocky!) I’m really happy you enjoyed it!
