OMG what've i done i worked on this game for months without telling or showing anybody and now it has to exist outside of my brain!

GRAPPLEWOOD is what happens when you take a SNES jrpg and the MacVenture adventure games (Deja Vu, et all) and Roadwarden and a comic book and 90s nickelodeon cartoon and you JAM THEM INTO A DIGITAL BLENDER WITH ONE WEIRD BURNT OUT DUDE AT THE CONTROLS JUST SLAMMING THE BUTTONS UNTIL YOU PLAY THE GAME PLAY THE GAME PLAY THE GAAAAAME

I’m especially looking for feedback on:

  • whether the opening is confusing or interesting
  • whether the combat feels fun
  • whether anything breaks or gets unclear
  • honestly is it any good?  i mean i like it.

If you try it, I’d seriously love to know where you got stuck, what you liked, and what felt rough.

I liked the game. It is charming. The combat did get repetitive quickly. I noticed alternating between fury slaps and taunt built heat quickly with little risk so I opened with a big move then just did that until either I won or my HP got low and I used a finisher. I nearly beat the moose. Good game. I did soft lock at the forest. I left instead of talking to the coach and then I could not find the coach. It is a good game. 8/10.
