I love the visuals of the game - it looks great. I found it really challenging at first and it took me a while to get used to the mouse controls, but I thought your mechanics of rotating the entire 'board' were really creative and enjoyable. Nice work.

Cool twist on Tetris-like mechanics!

I was able to get a decent score on the leaderboard, but after playing the game for a while, I have some thoughts on the mechanics. I'm not sure if there was something that I missed, but I feel like there are blocks and lines that are just "useless"? I don't think it's possible to score by making a square with a T-shape line or the cross line for example, so are they just there to fill up the space so you can get rid of them through combos later? I have found that the combos outlined in the tutorials are the only viable strategy to play.

I also think it may suffer a bit from being too complex? Not sure about that. After playing for a bit I also find out you can actually rotate the whole arena for the blocks to fall another direction lol. That adds a whole other dimension of complexity, which it's neither a good or a bad thing, but may make it feels a bit intimidating.

Overall, I still think it's a good project. Good job!

Thanks for the review and for trying it out. I recorded small video which shows all the mechanics and basically the way I'm playing my own game (but there is space for the experiments too). Video is on the game's page.

This was a really enjoyable experience!

The game feels very polished, and the presentation is beautiful. I especially liked the atmosphere, the visual style, and the creative take on the connection theme.

The mechanics are interesting and kept me engaged, and I found myself wanting to keep playing to better understand all the possibilities and combinations.

Great work, and congratulations on the submission!

Thank you for kind words!

Nice work! I like how this game feels like an elevated, evolved version of Tetris. The core idea is familiar, but you've built it around connections rather than color matching, which makes it feel fresh and interesting.

Great work, and keep it up!

Ayy that's a pretty cool take on Tetris!

Ended up getting a score of 2752 after making a large connection which was quite satisfying :D

Would be handy to have a button post game to get back to the main menu.

It's a nice job overall!

Thank you for trying it out. Pause menu has all the same functionality as the first/main menu so there was no reason to waste time on it.

a FULL 5* rating from me! Awesome game. A great concept and a perfect execution! Well done!

It means a lot that I could make someone enjoy it same as myself! <3

This is a really good take on tetris. I loved how you implemented the theme. Great game overall.

Love this version of the tetris, enjoyed simple controls, also nice design :)

Absolutely wild the amount of polish in this game. Very creative ideas and a really strong use of the theme. Great job!

Cool game! I like all the different methods you put in to rotate the board and stuff.

It's so cool how you can switch between key input and mouse input. Also, I like the color. Great job!

Always nice to see new takes on old classics. I liked the low key vibe and how the colors shifted in hue as you played. It gave my mind a lot to chew on as I played the first time around, figuring out what did what. I don't know if it's totally random, but the number of starting pin blocks felt very low to me compared to the number of blocks that featured "crossings" if that makes sense, leaving me with too many loose ends to manage. I also was unable to find a use for board rotation as I could already rotate my blocks, but maybe I just didn't think of something there.

My second go, I took a look at the combos beforehand. Oval is so powerful that that is all I did from then on, ignoring the entire rest of the game to focus on making ovals while the rest of the blocks sat in whatever pile they formed on the side of my oval project. I decided to hit 10k points with this strategy just to make a point, but I think I could have kept it going indefinitely. Maybe needs a nerf :)

Developer

The more filled board is - the higher are multiplier for the points.  So the "oval" combo is a good escape plan to keep somewhere in corner unfinished just in case (that's how I like to play it) and fill board a bit for extra points, something like in the original tetris when most players keeps one empty column and waits for the best moment when to place that "I" piece into it.

As there is no real goal, just pure competition in leaderboard - I decided to not heavily strict player from any combos, let player just embark the flow of the game, clear mind, meditate. I think all of them (combos) are kinda OP in a manner of clearing the board. I recorded a video of me playing and showing all the combos, mechanics and how I prefer to use them when I play.

I really like the aesthetics! The music and sounds are subdued perfectly for the game's vibe. As someone who's sorta bad at tetris to begin with, I wouldn't mind fewer multiconnection blocks, but failing that, I just wonder if the original mechanics of tetris could be reincorporated to help somehow. Like if completing a row maybe caused the blocks in that row to close any down or sideways loose ends there (might not be possible, or way too difficult, I'd need to think that through a little more).  Anyway, some food for thought.

Well done!!

I thought about tetris mechanics - but they were not fitting. There is combos which helps to clear board (or parts of it) and managing them (combos) was meant to be as a part of the players experience. You can check the video in the description of me playing and showing the principles and mechanics of the game and how I prefer to use them in my runs.

Thank you for trying it out.

Actually very unique game besides being a bit a kin to tetris - I have never seen anything like this. I watched the video first and understood the mechanic more or less from that, so can't comment how hard would it be to understand from just playing. It was very challenging and quite addicting. I feel like I got scammed by rng as I was mostly getting + and at some point my board was 64/80 full and I ever only got those single line with circle blocks twice, maybe needs some pseudo random. Graphics look very fitting for this kind of game, a bit of a "tetris effect" direction. Mechanics fit perfectly into the theme.

Nice twist on Tetris! Maybe a panel at a side that describes you the possible combinations would be good, but pretty nice work!

Developer

Combos being shown always on the screen would make visual "garbage" in my opinion, so I putted them in a menu.

I liked the asthetics of the game and the smooth controls. Also a shout out for the calming music while playing this.

Really nice take on the well known "stack'em" games combined with the jam theme! Also clever mechanihs with rotating the board, hard but I like the possibilities it gives. And frustartingly hard at times, especially when stressed and mixing up the controls. Great job!

Submitted

that was surprisingly challenging. I think you should go easy on the player with these X parts, because I really couldn't find a way to use them in any shape or form, but maybe I'm not good enough yet. they just kept messing up my patterns... anyway, really strong envisioning of the theme in challenging game setting. could use a pumping soundtrack though...

Submitted

It was a bit hard to wrap my head around the combos and the fact that you can turn the board, but it was an interesting spin on the tetris concept. Nice one :)

Submitted

Interesting concept. I needed the YouTube video to understand that you can make the shapes bigger than the examples on the combo screen. Turning the whole level made my head hurt !

Overall the game looks great and plays smooth, so great job !
