You are in the unfortunate position that I played your game after playing nearly 100 other entries and I do have to admit, there were a couple of "red strings on a board of evidence" games, which is probably why I am thinking more critical about it than if I had played yours first. I totally get the visual appeal of the red strings connecting the evidence, but playing a couple different version of it now, it seems to me that the problem when actually playing with these mechanics is that the term "connection" is so broad and open for interpretation, that the functionality is somewhat questionable and the right solution is either very obvious (like: it has the same name or location in the evidence's description) and therefore way too easy or extremely open for interpretation with hundres of possible board configurations and therefore nearly impossible to solve other than brute forcing.
I would say your game has both extremes and locking a right connection in instantly does make the degrees of freedom more manageable, but it does lend itself to brutforcing a solution instead of deducing the truth.

sorry, if I am rambling. I hope you understand it is not meant to be an attack on your game, but just unfiltered feedback / thoughts I had while playing. you have a really cool and dark scenario and the game looks great, I do believe however, that the "red strings on a board of evidence" mechanics are more of a cinematic trope than a useful deduction tool unless it has some more predefined rules.

When the theme was announced, I immediately thought a game about red strings on an evidence board would be a pretty unique interpretation, and the scope of a short, UI-driven detective game seemed perfect for the deadline. You can imagine my surprise when, ten days later, I saw a dozen similar entries, all while my own UI was bursting at the seams!

Either way, thank you for this INVALUABLE feedback. We are going to push forward with development and release a full version featuring a restructured narrative matrix, a much tighter connection validator, and other improvements that simply couldn't fit into a ten-day jam window. Our core vision has always been to reward analysis, rational thinking, and pure deduction rather than brute-forcing the solutions. Thanks to feedback like yours, we will definitely get there.

I really love the idea. The story seems really intriguing and I really love the presentation, but I encountered some issues that are making progress difficult.

There seems to be some scaling issues when going to/from fullscreen while the game is running. There also seems to be an issue where if you go between the map and archive it can clear your board.

The chromatic aberration is a really cool visual effect, and an immersive way to convey sanity loss. However, when playing fullscreen at high resolutions the text is small and the effect makes reading text very difficult. It is much less of a problem playing windowed.

I hope you are able to fix some of the issues because it seems like a really cool game with an interesting story  :)

I was super invested! The game looks good and seems really fun but sadly there were too many bugs for me to be able to fully enjoy it. When the bugs are fixed i would love to try it again! The look and the concept were great tho!

Hello ! I would love to dive more into this project but I encountered twice the same bug that really prevented me to go far into the game. Twice I open the archive and upon leaving it, the board was blank and the bottom shelf was empty. It could have been visual, but I'm not sure. The quit game button also couldn't help me.

After a few tries, I was unfortunately quite frustrated. Even after just one mistake, I found it incredibly difficult to even read the text and prompts anymore, which unfortunately makes it both exhausting and frustrating. In my opinion, the effect is too intense. Still, it’s a cool idea with what’s surely a good story—one that I sadly won’t get to experience, though.

We didn't have time to fine-tune the difficulty balance. I'll tweak it a bit and post it along with the layout fix.

I played for a while and was super invested in the story. Sadly a bug caused my entire board to disappear? That was a little disappointing. The game and story however have great potential and had me 100% hooked, super fun. The theme was met spot on. Audio feedback to correct, wrongly and somewhat correctly connected clues as satisfying. Solid game if the bugs are to be ignored. Good job! :)

I love the graphics and the idea of the game 😄

But I think there’s a canvas/UI scaling issue. When I start the game before going fullscreen, everything works normally. But after switching to fullscreen, a lot of bugs happen the clue icons become really small and I can’t place anything onto the board properly. Same thing happens with the maps too.

It seems like the game only works correctly in fullscreen if you enter fullscreen before starting the game.

Besides the canvas/UI scaling issue, I also found a bug where if you open the archive, press the map, close the map, and then close the archive, all the clues disappear.

OMG 😱😱😱😱
It seems board refactoring has to be postponed and the layout needs to be fixed urgently. Thanks for the feedback – it's invaluable!

Retina or 4K display, I guess... We had a similar issue with the other game when switching resolutions.

Looks really promising but I probably missed something about what to do. Managed to click around the map and so on but ended a bit lost on what to do. Looking forward to see a polished version

Couldn't get past the first screen....anyway thematically on point, was intrigued to learn  more and get into the gameplay. Good effort on the game jam. Well done for submitting!!

Thanks for your feedback!

To complete the first day, place two meaningful clues on the board and connect them, then click NEXT DAY.
