How does your game fit the Theme & Boss Battle Edition?
In The Demon Lord Wants to Work!, you play as the boss — a pampered young demon lord who secretly raises a rookie hero with limited magic, then fights him yourself in the final battle.

Theme: "YOU ARE THE BOSS" — you manage a magic budget, control suspicion to avoid your generals finding out, and finally control the demon lord in a player-driven boss fight.

Boss Battles: 5 encounters — 4 unique generals (Skeleton King, Troll, Succubus, Lich) + a final player-controlled Demon Lord fight where you spend remaining magic on skills (Shadow Bolt / Magic Shield). The final battle escalates from normal gameplay and is the clear highlight.

I liked lots ofthings from your entry: the cute art, the autobattler, the market ideas, the combat itself.

I am just unsure if was able to equip the objects, I tried several times to click on them, then mosters,  with several variations, but every times they stay there, in the inventory. Not sure why.

Still, enjoyed the experience a lot.

Developer

Thank you for your kind words! Normally, those items can be equipped to monsters by dragging or clicking on them. If they just won't equip no matter what, it's very likely a bug on my end. I'm really sorry for the trouble, and thank you for your feedback!

Love the art. Autobattler is an unusual choice, I like it. I didn't manage to kill the duck, not sure how you are supposed to do it, I didn't even manage to damage it for at least half hp. Adding some sfx would add up greatly to the game. Overall, I liked it, but some adjustments to the difficulty I think would be nice, maybe I was doing something wrong, not sure :)

Thanks for the kind words! I'm afraid balancing isn't really my strong suit — sorry about that. I'll definitely consider adding sound effects. Thank you!

Cute idea and very much on theme!

I played a few times but wasn’t ever able to kill the duck, even deploying no one it got strong enough just through the mini-boss battles and I had just 4 mana to spend.

Great concept and good art, would love to play some more after you tune it!

Nice entry, a different genere always give freshness in a game jam!
my critiques are that, unfortunately, there were no sfx or music and that understanding how to play the game was actually difficult, would suggest adding a tutorial to understand right away what's going on :>
Other than that, nice art and idea, good adherence to the theme.

Overall interesting entry, very curious to see further work on it!

Thanks for the detailed feedback!

You're right — there are currently no sound effects or music (didn't have time to add them). And the learning curve is indeed steep. I'll consider adding a simple tutorial.

Glad you liked the art and the theme. I'll keep improving it in future updates. Thanks again!

I love the art assets. Escpacially the bosses and the duck had a lovely design. I do wish there was some sfx or music for a more emersive experience

Developer

Thanks for loving the art assets, especially the bosses and the duck — glad you like their design!

You're right, there are currently no sound effects or music yet, because I didn't have time to add them. I will add them in a future update to make the experience more immersive. Thanks again for your feedback!

Hey, nice game!!

I loved your pixel art assets for this game.

I didn't know if there was an issue her, but I didn't heard any sfx.

Congrats for creating this game

Developer

You're right — there are currently no sound effects in the game. I didn't have time to add them yet, but I will add them in a future update. Thanks for pointing it out, and thanks for your congrats!

Enjoyed the game and it seemed very sophisticated, but I struggled to understand the mechanics deeply. I think after playing through the whole game I somewhat understand what was going on, but I feel like it's likely just a language barrier. Overall was actually really polished, and I'm impressed by how robust the menus/gameplay was. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the kind words! Glad you found the game polished overall.

About the language barrier — that’s strange, because I did add localization. Could you tell me which language you were playing in? Maybe there’s a bug that prevented the localization from showing up, or perhaps some of the mechanics text didn’t translate clearly. I'd love to improve it, so any details would be super helpful.

Thanks again for your support!
