That was a fun game! I love the visual style and on top with the music, gives such an atmospheric vibe!

Interesting maze concept too! I'm so bad with skill games, haha! I kept falling over the trails.. 😅😅😅

If I had to say something to give a bit more of 'quality of life' to the player, would be to let the player skip text on their own.. I found myself missing some lines, because it went away too fast.. haha

overall, solid entry! 💪💪

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed the visuals, music, and overall atmosphere 😊

And don't worry, you're definitely not the only one who took a few unexpected trips off the maze paths!

The text feedback is a really good point. A manual "click to continue" option was actually something I considered. Looking back, I think it would have made the dialogue easier to follow.

Thanks again for the kind words and the helpful feedback!

I liked how you get that display of the whole level once you reached the exit door and how it replays the path you've taken.

Very unique aesthetics!

I loved the artwork and writing for this. Well done!

I like the story and presentation. The later levels felt like a relief as I could see more of it and generally larger in space.

awesome atmosphere!  so cool its all hand drawn!!! super well done, great job :)

Submitted(+1)

Incredible atmosphere. And that it is hand-drawn makes it even more impressive. Well done!

I like the atmosphere of the game. I enjoyed playing it. Good job!

Great vibe. The Art and Sounds are so well done. The controls can be a bit more polished but solo effort in a gam jam is tough. Looking forwarding to see how it develops.

Submitted(+1)

great art and atmosphere! i felt the controls could have been a bit more polished but you dont get much time in a jam for everything

Submitted(+1)

Very well done. Obviously a ton of effort put in and it shows. That turned out very well

Submitted(+1)

So, Aesthetics are, of course, amazing! Music and art is just perfect, I think. I have to say though, my wrist started to hurt after a while haha. Well done.

Submitted(+1)

Love how you put in your own style for the art, it's not an easy thing to do. It takes time and you commited to it. Well done! This game defintely had a great chilling mood and vibes.

Fantastic job! Never got over one star :D Artwork is great, audio fits really well, story was great. With some balancing and polish you have a really good point and click. Really well done getting all this together in 10 days!

I did find a good bug tho... I don't know if this happens every level (I noticed it on the last 3), but if you go back to the door you just came out of, you can float like a ghost and just zoom your way to the exit. If I have time later I'm going memorize the exits and  crush the speed run world record :D

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words!

As a programmer, I honestly didn't expect to receive so many compliments about the art and presentation, so hearing that the artwork and story landed well is incredibly rewarding. I put a lot of effort into those areas, and I'm really happy to hear it was worth it.

The "ghost mode" bug is actually one I've tracked down already, and it'll be fixed in a future update. So if you decide to come back and challenge that world record, you'll have to do it the intended way!

Thanks again for playing and for taking the time to leave such encouraging feedback. It means a lot!

As an artist, not a programmer (though I am getting better at the programming side of things) I applaud your art style. Very painterly, it all works well together with the feel of the whole piece. Great job.

I've already logged the 1.0 version on speedrun.com, so if you update I will be locked in forever with the world record!!! bwhahahaha (kidding of course, I am not now nor ever will be a speed runner - those days are long past)

Submitted(+1)

Very well done, love the art and gameplay style just seem to go hand in hand. Not to mention the time you took to actually include a thought out story to pull it all together with. Great job with this.

Dang, the art is really nice, wouldn't tell it's a jam game if I didn't know, the aesthetic reminds me of older point and click adventure flash games. I wish there was a fullscreen button, right now had to fight a bit with the scroll to fit the screen and go F11 mode.

I think you found a lot of great mechanics for a maze game, like light and zoom. Atmosphere is great for that sort of game too and together they kept me playing.  I'd say that zoom restoration and spike mechanics didn't feel like they necessary fit for me personally, but that's just how I felt. Spikes sometimes dropped me out of the flow I was having with the nice sounds and general mood, felt a bit like they belong in a different type of game. Zoom seemed like it was waiting game, so idk, maybe could be limited use times. Otherwise zoom is a great thing that sort of makes it a also about memorization (and of course luck of using zoom in proper places where you can see the exit).

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the thoughtful feedback!

I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere, visuals, and the maze mechanics. The comparison to classic point-and-click adventures is a huge compliment.

I think your comments about the spikes and zoom mechanic are fair as well. A few players mentioned that some mechanics can interrupt the exploration-focused mood, and it's been really interesting to see those perspectives after release.

Also, thanks for mentioning the fullscreen issue - that should already be fixed in the latest build.

Appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed feedback!

Dreamy and evocative. I loved the feel of my ghostly character floating through the ruined labyrinth. My wish for this game would be more environmental storytelling and less instant death. I really enjoyed the vibe here!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and exploration. I definitely would have liked to add more environmental storytelling with more time.

Thanks for the feedback and the kind words!

Just finished playing and enjoyed it a great deal! I usually avoid games with a "Dark Atmosphere" because I get scared really quickly. Especially with the moody music choice I was half worried to get spooked by something. (Thanks for not doing that:P). I loved the sound choices for the dialogue of the 'fire wisp'. The soundeffect of falling off the path for the first time made me flinch, but it grew on me. Good job pal, you can be proud of yourself! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm glad the atmosphere worked for you without turning into a horror game.
The goal was always mystery and adventure rather than jump scares, so I'm happy to hear that came across. And hearing that you enjoyed the spirit's dialogue and sound effects really means a lot.

Thanks for playing and for the kind words - comments like this make all the jam effort worth it!

Great art, great atmosphere!

A couple feedback I have:

  1. The orb objects (they look cool btw) look like they can be light up, but yet I couldn’t figure out their purpose in the game other than being a decoration.
  2. I wish you can zoom out a bit longer. Sometimes I feel like it doesn’t really help at all.
  3. After the introduction of spikes, the levels all seem very similar (other than the one with the long windy path.)
  4. About the level with the long windy path, I am sure why you need to include a section of path after the exit. I went there and explore only to find a dead end. For a timed run, I feel that should not be there.

Finally, to help me out with the voting, can you explain to me how your game fits the theme “connections”?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the detailed feedback!

The points about the zoom, spikes, and time-based scoring are all fair, and it's been really interesting to see how different players felt about them. Some of those mechanics were experiments on my end, and the feedback has given me a lot to think about.

As for the theme, my interpretation of "Connections" exists on multiple levels. The Nomad is connected to the world they're trying to save, which is why they journey into the Spire in the first place. Then, throughout the game, the connection between the Nomad and the Spirit becomes the core of both the story and the gameplay. The Spirit provides light and guidance, but cannot reach the top alone. The Nomad can navigate the world, but would be lost without the Spirit.
Their journey is only possible because they rely on each other, which is how I chose to explore the theme.

Thanks again for playing and for taking the time to share your thoughts!

That’s a very beautiful story. Looking back on the gameplay I can kinda get a sense of it after reading your explanation.

Submitted(+1)

Really cool aesthetic and atmosphere achieved that added tension in the mazes. Did you do the art? It's very good, great job on the game

Developer

Thanks a lot! And yeah, I actually did the art myself 😊

I’m usually much more focused on the programming side of game development, but for this solo-dev project I really wanted to put extra focus on the art direction and level design too. Glad it paid off

Submitted(+1)

Nice atmosphere. I like how each level is uniquely hand-drawn.

Developer

Glad you liked the level designs - I had a lot of fun making those 😊

And honestly, seeing people play the game all the way to completion has been one of the best parts of releasing it. Really appreciate you taking the time to play
