This game feels so polished!

Hi there! Neither me or my team crew have tried the game yet, but just wanted to tell you that there is warning below when I try to download the game :/
Maybe you should check with itch why it is so, it could prevent people from trying your game, which seems to work fine since other people have played it.

Hey, thanks for reporting and good to know about it. I started to use VPN recently so I kind novice in such matter. I promise there’s no virus or anything wrong with my account and the game. I don’t even know how a virus work to be honest. Going to check with itch.io about it!

So close to the rating limit but I did test your game!! Good job with the intro and the graphism in general, they are great! "Capitalism is the waiting room of fascism", can't agree more here. I managed to save 8/10 neightbours at first try so not bad I guess. Let's hope games like this will inspire people to disobey, protest and protect ;)

Hi, sorry to be like that, but in the intro there is a symbol that combines the black sun and .. the David's star? Was that an accident? I hope it's clear that antisemitism is not okay! Again, I will just assume that it was an accident!

Other than that, it is so hard to keep the neighborhood safe on your own. It is so hard to keep on fighting while people get picked up left and right and deported to god knows where. I think this feeling is portrayed very well here.

First of all, thanks for playing the game! This means a lot especially in the current circumstances.

Secondly, about the symbolism - I want to answer carefully. Thanks for raising this. I appreciate you asking rather than assuming bad intent. Let me give you the full context, because the symbol doesn’t appear alone.

My game’s intro is a slideshow. Each line of text appears with an image. Here is the sequence around that symbol:

“And when a crack threatens the structure of the world’s owners - whether from a small social advance or an antagonistic force
The mask falls. Their hypocrisy surfaces.

  • Image of the world ‘owners’

“The new pact of the bourgeoisie is sealed. Tragedy for humanity is legalized.” Their thrones untouched. The means of production run at full steam, generating exorbitant profit for them. And for us.. For us nothing.

  • This is where the Black Sun + Star of David appears with the White House behind it.

“They turned the different, the foreigner, the other into a common enemy. They were not born with a license to exist.”

  • Image of police arresting a person

The symbol is not there to equate Jews with Nazis. It’s there to show how fascism corrupts and poisons all symbols. Including those of its victims. The Black Sun is a fascist emblem. Placing it alongside the Star of David represents how the far‑right appropriates and weaponizes Jewish identity (for example, by claiming “judeo‑christian values” while persecuting Jews and Palestinians).

The White House behind the flags makes it clear: this is a critique of Western power and capitalist hypocrisy not an attack on Jewish people.

I understand the symbol is still painful to see. I’m absolutely against antisemitism and against using antisemitism accusations to shield state violence.

Thank you for holding me accountable That is how we make better more conscious art :)

After consideration, I realized that if an image needs a written explanation to not be misunderstood it failed its purpose.

I still stand by my intent: critiquing Western hypocrisy and symbol co‑optation. But the execution was confusing and caused unintended harm. That’s on me.

I’ll replace that image with something clearer Appreciate you pushing me to think harder.

I think the original Zombies Ate My Neighbors makes a perfect diving board to creating something that talks about fascism and how it kind of just springs itself on some people. And in this case making people disappear. We’re in a phase where it’s moving very quickly - like a horror movie.

Your design is very well done and eyecatching.

And capitalism is, of course, a major facet of fascism. They’re intertwined in a that horrific to behold in the end. The idea of fighting back anyway you can is very much in the spirit of the moment.

You understood exactly what I was trying to say - an horror movie. The comparison to Zombies Ate My Neighbors as neighbors just ‘disappearing’ is spot on for how fascism creeps in. I’m really glad the message landed with you. Thanks again for such a thoughtful comment!

This came up just yesterday. I was out with friends from work, all of them naturalized immigrants, and one of them mentioned how his gardener was deported. Someone asked if he’d already been sent away or was in one of the centers and the person admitted that they didn’t know. We all got quiet as it dawned on us that anything could be happening to that man and he may have no one checking in on him. To your game’s point - it’s better to put up resistance before someone gets taken waiting until its too late and their eaten by the system.

I thought later, “This came up during the game jam!”

Developer(+1)

Gosh what a terrible situation. I hope that man is okay or at least safe wherever he is. But I have to be honest: I feel powerless and scared. I keep hearing news just like what you described. I saw this jam as an opportunity to try to relieve that feeling
 even just a little

Thank you for sharing that story. It makes me want to keep going

Fun as hell and with a strong message! My only nitpick is that the characters you had to save would sometimes get stuck on doors when leaving their houses.

Thank you! Really glad the message landed and you had fun with it.

And I really appreciate the bug report. You have no idea how many days I’ve sunk into trying to fix that exact issue
. will try to fix it. Thanks again!
