I make free, distraction-free educational games, primarily for people with learning difficulties, but designed to work for everyone. Educators are welcome to create their own scenarios or extensions on top of them. If you work on similar topics, have an idea that builds on what I’ve made, or just see ways to improve it - reach out.

Hi programersi,

Like you, I also made a free, distraction-free educational game: Simple Times! to practice basic math.

Nice one! Have you thought about porting it into browser version?

Yes, but I need to learn how to convert Linux app into html5.

Srry for bad English. I am K0 Functor, math major student from Armenia(currently studying in Russia), lately have been trying to create games using Chat GPT.

DONT

why not?

AI is lazy and low effort and honestly sucks.I'm fine with using AI as coding asistance but a whole game: no.

Howdy y'all 👋. Mac here from southeast US.

I'm a backend developer by trade, but also enjoy dabbling in game development. Mostly starting an account here to encourage myself to finish more projects, get feedback, and satisfy the creative itch in my brain. Outside of technical part, I enjoy music composition, especially jazz and lofi-ish tracks.

I enjoy story-rich atmospheric games. Some of my favorites are Majora's Mask, Silent Hill 2, Hitman Blood Money, and Spec Ops the Line.

Heyo! I was wondering where to start, so thanks for posting this (I'm 10 years late).

My brother and I have just entered the world of indie development. He's the artist and creator, and I'm the avid gamer, heh. So, hello everyone!

Never too late to say hello!

Hello! On social media I go by the name Blossom; I’m active on BlueSky ( https://bsky.app/profile/blossomwatercolors.bsky.social ) and I’m currently developing a game ( https://blossomwatercolors.itch.io/chronicles-of-the-apocalypse ).

I’m mainly an illustrator, but for a while I was writing stories, so I thought I’d combine all of this and ended up here on Itch.io.

Thanks for your time. :)

Hello Fellow artist, good luck  with your game!

Thank you so much!

Hi, I'm BugVictim.

As of this post, I have 7 games published on itch.io, so it is probably time I said hello to the community. Writing games is fun. Self-promotion is not.

So far, they are all free browser games made in pure HTML and JavaScript, mainly to make them as easy as possible to play, with no downloads or installation. This is just a hobby in my spare time. I’m not trying to turn this into a grand indie studio operation any time soon. I experiment with a lot of little projects, not all of them games, but some of the games get taken far enough to release on itch.io.

Brief summary of published games:

Paxman

A Pac-Man homage. Originally just an experiment in what a Pac-Man-type game might look like with outline vector graphics, which is a common theme I seem to be drawn to. It reached the point where I thought I really had to take it to a full working release.

Offslaught '81

Back in 2008, this was my entry to the TIGSource Retro Demakes competition. It is a tower defence game as if running on an old ZX81 computer. Recently, I converted the original Python code to HTML5 and added a few retro VFX touches.

Plasmatron

At its heart, this is an animated plasma visualisation toy, with an optional brief 5 to 10 minute story mode that acts as a tutorial, showing you how to make very varied psychedelic visuals with a handful of controls.

Copycat

The name came first, then I thought up the game. It is a rapid-fire game where you are shown a cat and then have to quickly identify the duplicate cat in an identity parade of other cats. You get nine lives, obviously. Playable on desktop or phone.

German Whist

Play the classic trick-taking card game against the computer. Great for fans of Windows Hearts, or if you want to learn a proper two-player card game where your tactical choices actually require thought.

Generic Space Rock Shooter Game

My homage to the great arcade game Asteroids. I kept the outline vector look and play style of the original, but rebuilt it as a modern browser implementation with a little more graphical finesse.

Terminal Velocity

More outline vector style. A synthwave lane-changer game where you speed along a neon road, trying to match the correct sequences and avoid going so fast that you overheat and disintegrate the whole neon-cyber world. This one also works on phone or desktop.

Anyway, that is me. I'll get back to other stuff and thanks for reading.

Hey everyone!

I'm Michael, an old fart who decided to make an old school game. Myself and a friend of mine set out to make a highly complex PvP turn-based tactics which we finally got working on itch.io.

This is my first time using this platform and I wish I had know about it years ago. I used to be big into newgrounds.com games and this feels like an improved version where indies can publish really cool games for people to enjoy.

I sincerely hope I'll be able to find some audience here.

More about me; I'm a musician at heart. I composed all the music for my game as well as a whole piano album back in my 20s. I also used to workout a lot, but now I do the opposite, I just cook good fancy food and eat it (without the working out part).

I've been browsing the thread and man oh man are there a lot of cool gems to check out. If I ever get bored playing Path of Exile 2, I'll know where to look next!

I was a little hesitant to post here because well, I'm not all the best when it comes to introductions.

I'm Roy, a solo dev from Scotland that has a massive taste for puzzle games like Columns.

I knew about the site prior to actually making a working game but kept on the down low just in case. I feel a little more confident about introducing myself since I am working on a remaster of the game I have been making since late 2023.

My only social is: https://bsky.app/profile/gamedevderg.bsky.social

Hello ,good luck on  remastering your game!

I’m half done but I’m running into some issues.

HELLO I am Mimi from Tunisia, new to games development, I want to learn more so I can build better Unity games in the future !

Good evening, another old bull signing on.

So.. who am I ...

I am a full time programmer - although i am working more on PLCs and industrial application than games. But after growing up in the 80s and 90s i am still fond of a lot of the classics and therefore decided, some months ago, to give myself a try in recreating an old game.. and then abandoning it to create something ew that is heavily inspired.

So... here i present you a reimagined "Outpost" (Sierra 1994(?)) i christined Starfall.. basically it has nothing to do anymore with the original game except for a very faint shared premise.. Currently i am working on version 0.5 but the uploaded 0.4 pre alpha already shows a lot of the content and almost a full game loop.. but in any way.. there is still more to come, a lot more.. and if my dayjob allows me to take some time to finish this game it will happen constantly :)

See you arround.

Hi everyone! I'm Sergey.

For years, I’ve been making casual games. But now, I’m stepping into completely new territory to build something I've always wanted: a dark, unforgiving world driven by a deep narrative.

My new game is an experimental mix of genres. At its core, it’s a grimdark visual novel / interactive fiction, but between the heavy story chapters, you manage a squad, fight cultists, and crush brutal bosses. The combat is designed as a tactical yet casual element — a perfect way to clear your head and rest between massive chunks of reading.

Since this is a passion project, the entire game will be completely free. The first chapter is finished, and the playable 10 mins demo is already live.

Stack is  c++ and opengl / webgl (since demo is playable in browser).  People often tell me that its not the best choice, but i just like c++

Hi there!

This is 虚空造物FFVoid, I'm pursuing my desire of making a psychedelic  dremay music  maze game now.

Initially, this was purely my pursuit of the core of psychedelic dreamy  electronic music using SUNO.AI . As a newbee with almost zero programming experience, I felt that these tracks were not just meant to be heard, but should be an experience you can touch. Driven by ultimate desire, the barrier of code was gradually broken by AI. Utilizing various tools, I embarked on a solo indie development journey, step by step translating abstract imagination into a real, running universe on the screen.

Please take an immersive journey in to my game, and share your thoughts, thanks for playing~

hi, im scooterk1. is it just me, or about 75 percent of these games are horrid? almost half of the games ive added to my faves are incompatiable or crash upon starting. some mentioning 3rd party websites, um what kind of platform is this, and why are these idiotic games still alowed to be offered to us. if they dont work, GET RID OF THEM!!!!! im tired of wasting my time going through collections to add for most of them giving some kind of excuse to not have them function properly! itch.io used to be an awesoe website, but has lacked any progression with anything. its like we took 20 steps back. 20 years ago, shit ran much smoother than todays tech garbage. were in the year 2026, lets get with it. jesus christ already. this webste has just become a money grabber just like everything else offered today. its sickening what weve become, A VERRRY GREEDY SOCIETY!!!! i hate demos and will hardly ever buy ANYTHING on here, why?, so it wont work? ive been on itch for over 15 years and have just seen it go downhill. and what the heck is up with the GAME & WATCH games not playable or availiable for that matter. if these games dont work, again REMOVE THEM!. thats it im done venting, its been a long time coming.

I know man ,thats it is all true. But about my demo ... it works... with no bugs I think... and the game will be free. I think there is a lot of awesome games on here. But yes... We are living the most greedy society ever.

I hear you. Is it a lost cause? I have hope, don't get jaded. We can do our best to influence change, if we care enough. I know, it's a fast paced, expensive, stressful world out here. Maybe we will just sink in the noise, or maybe we can shine a light on the path forward. We can rebuild.
