pretty fun game, with a unique interpretation of the theme.

wonder what Tolkien would think

it's really so fun that i would love to play it in my free time aside of the jam, in my opinion its one of the two best games of the jam until now, till i have time to try more.
i got to 600 cuz i need to sleep, but most likely ill try to achieve the 5000 in weekend

Thank you for playing! I'll let you in on a secret that I haven't added a win screen/condition ๐Ÿ˜†

My furthest was 900m-ish. If you can beat my score, I would consider that a win ๐Ÿ˜„

Super well polished. Though I rarely felt the need to use the slowdown mechanic as my time to react to using the slowdown seemed to be the same as I would react to moving the guy falling down

Developer

Thanks for playing! The speed/movement was tricky to tweak, and I'm in the same boat as you where I'm usually needing the ring by 400m+ to dodge the layered obstacles. I thought of it as a 'get out of jail free' option, so if you were struggling early on, you could also use it!

There is a pro gamer interaction where the player will 'sling' super quickly to the mouse after leaving invisibility, when the mouse is much further away from your character

It's incredibly polished. That intro alone must have taken a long time.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I thought the intro was needed to create a stronger connection to the theme ๐Ÿ˜†

Fun game! I wasnโ€™t expecting the Lord of the Rings theme hahaha.

This was my classic trap of coming up with the theme idea first, and then having to link a game idea to it ๐Ÿ˜† thanks for playing!

Hi! I just played your game and enjoyed it. The visuals and overall idea were really nice. I've left a rating. If you have time, I'd appreciate it if you could check out my game as well and share your thoughts. Good luck in the jam!

Really simple mechanics executed well, this one is great.

Really liked this entry! Super fun and very polished, very curious what your idea process was, my highest score was  798!

Developer

Thanks for playing Vex! I was struggling to come up with an idea this week ๐Ÿ˜†

I think the link to the theme came to me when I was walking the dogs. I was running through how to interpret the words within the theme differently, and landed on middle of the earth!

Coming up with the link first is hard, as I then have to try fit a game into the idea. I prototyped a few falling with the ring mechanics, being able to dash, having the player actually disappearing when you use the ring, and landed on the core game that I released pretty quickly after testing ๐Ÿ˜„

Alice in wonderlands vibes, I love it! I think this is the first time I see a pico8 game with this kind of controls, it is very fluid and fun, amazing work!
