Cool game, enjoyed the song and the visuals are pretty fun!

Rhythm gameplay is on point, very solidly made.

Doesn't capture an NES feel for me, especially in the audio department, but outside of that context it's a great bite of gameplay through and through.

Nice work!

Great game play, amazing music and graphics!  But missed the mark in terms of NES gameplay and curse theme. You would have won any other jam :)

Fun game and loved the music. Played it a few times to catch the nice animations. Wish there were more levels !

Helluva single promo! Doesn't pass for an NES game at all but man what an audiovisual flex!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game. Seemed to just kinda end after the song was up and I'm not sure if that was a bug or if that's all there was to it. Doesn't really feel very NES but I enjoyed myself anyway. Good job!

Super funky and super fun. I'm terrible at these kinds of games, but I really enjoyed this nonetheless. I can only imagine what it'd be like to play something like this on the NES! Thanks for making and sharing your game!

Developer

Thank you so! And congrats on your amazing project - very special indeed. Would love to collaborate if you're ever looking for support in the audio and music department!

It would have been good if the music was made for the NES audio chip and you can't press LEFT and RIGHT at the same time on a NES controller (as most controllers).

Also I didn't find the keys much in tune with the music.

Developer

Thanks for the comment and for playing! :) The issue with notes falling out of sync came up when printing out the web version and wasn't caught until submissions closed! Doh! ... but I'm looking forward to tuning it up later. Didn't even think about the "D-pad" matter! Interesting catch, whoops!

Adore your project btw - true NES vibes! LOVE your cover art.

Game is enjoyable, I liked the art as well. Well done!

nah y'all cooked with the music and art, an nes rhythm game? now i didn't expect that for sure lol, the soundtrack was really fire, and i managed to get a "full combo" too, as someone said you could've shaken up thing with subtle camera shake and more effects or maybe even make the bunnies react more to feel that you are in the flow when you let's say have more than 50 combo maybe, now i wouldn't lie and say this could be an actual nes game since the nes would explode loading this game, but that def doesn't mean the game is bad at all, just more looks indie yk, so good job nevertheless :)

also if you have some free time maybe you can try out my game and drop some feedback on it? i'd appreciate that :)

Submitted(+1)

Very funky :) The only feedback I’d give is when I have a combo going, I’d like to feel like I’m on fire. Things like subtle screen shake, color shifts, bass-ier music, so on. Anything to reward the player for doing well. Good work!

This was really well done. I just couldn't get past how advanced this was in terms of audio and visuals. The NES could never have done this but love how you pushed beyond it and made a neat rhythm game (how dare you take our genre idea! =) )

I love hearing vocals alongside some good chiptune!  The art and rhythm game was fun and just challenging enough to where I was able to enjoy the visuals and nail the inputs. (~ ̄▽ ̄)~

Thank you so! Had a ton fun with the audio fusion :)

oh also, is there a way to download/view the song?? its so good like what??

I restarted a few times because I was angry at my mistakes, ended with 134547 points (and a current combo meter of 158), it was fun. The difficulty of the sequence is perfect for the jam and the game looks and sounds great (likely too great ;) ).

I loved the idea, even though I thought it was impossible for a song to be sung on the NES; still, what a banger!

Submitted(+1)

this is the best game in the jam, you are the winner 100%

This game is awesome! I really like the visuals and while it's (a bit) too high fidelity to be on an NES sound chip, the music and audio are awesome. I think you knocked this out of the park. It's a shame that the sync was messed up in the Web version, I have also learned the hardships of trying to do audio effects and delayed audio events in browser. Even with that issue though, I think you made something incredibly fun, and enjoyable.

Developer

Super appreciate it! I'm gonna take a swing at syncin' things up after the fact. Thanks for the comment!

really cool game! it would be really nice to have some of those back in the days to play on NES! :)

Audio is the best but ironically the NES cannot handle it. I really liked the gameplay and the  song! but after i played the song all the way  nothing happens. But still a great entry!

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! This is a bug resulting from an issue with a game clock that got a little jumbled when bringing the project to web. I'll take a swing at restoring it soon!

Very cool, but the sound is too advanced for the NES style.

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah! I’ll share something I wrote in another reply because I like the way I put it 😂 Thanks so much for playing!!

“Expanded the audio palette QUITE a bit, huh. My thought was for the tune to start relatively true to NES (intro) then begin expanding sonically - while finding fun through-lines for the NES pulses and noises.“

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

I really like the graphics and the audio. Although probably the audio is beyond what the NES could do. But great job in that area!.  I found a small bug at the end, or I am not sure if it is supposed to happen like it did. but the song ended and nothing happened.
Edit: oh I just read that there is a bug on the web version. I'll try it again later, I had so much fun with this one.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing. My approach was to tease a true-to-NES sonic palette (+ VO) then explore creative ways to broaden it with gradually more advanced digital audio - all while finding homes for the NES “instruments” to carry on!
