Good all around, just maybe make the camera movement smoother because it is kind of jarring. (Also not very unexpected)
No death sound and a hidden timer when not moving a little annoying, but over a decent game
The Arts it is simple and Awsome but it also feels empty, There a game that require pixel perfect jump and a level with lots of tree and bees that hard to do. Lowk took more afford them threading a needle but i pushed through so prolly a great sign
Game is cute. I think it could benefit by adding some coyote time for when a player is running off a platform and making a jump. The shooting causing kickback is a nice effect. I was a little frustrated that the character didn't turn in the direction of the mouse click so that would be cool to add as well.
Good game, quite entertaining. The level design is well done, the music is quite competent, and the visual design is gorgeous. Although there were some rough edges, like the main character only shooting to one side, not even while jumping, and for some reason, the character dies instantly for standing still doing nothing—though I suppose that's part of the "unexpected" challenge. The final level feels somewhat uninspired as well, but other than that, congratulations. I hope they continue improving the project after the game jam ends; I'd love to see its potential.
You have good taste making a 2D platformer! I like the visuals too. I have a feeling you used an asset pack, and if you did, make sure to credit the artist for legal reasons or at least as a nice gesture.
I have some experience making platforms. You did a good job with the level design! It was entertaining and varied. There's definitely places that were a bit too difficult (for example, the jump over the second bee in the first level is challenging to players who haven't had time to learn the arc of the jump yet), but under the constraints of a game jam it can be tough to playtest and find those, so I completely understand.
I'd recommend watching some people play the game to see how you can improve. You'll learn a lot about game design if you're observant. I also recommend watching some game design videos on platformers. Platformer controls are all about the little details, so you need to make sure you learn all the little tricks. Here's some you could look up to get you started: jump buffer, coyote jump, camera drag, variable jump height.
I enjoyed playing it and I hope you do more work on platformers in the future because they can be a lot of fun!
