You've put quite some work into this game and I like it even with it's flaws. The intro / bootup sequence is really cool and the retro graphics / music is fantastic.

Fighting and movement felt a bit clunky but since clunkiness is something my game has as well I think it's okay :D

The game itself reminds me a little bit of Pseudoregalia, probably because of the focus on movement.

I'm sad, but not because of the game. It seems my potato laptop doesn't wanna play nice with it. It has a tendency to freeze either from too many particles or too many things happening in quick succession, I'm unsure what specifically is causing it. If I defeat an enemy, there's a high chance it'll freeze or even crash. Or sometimes if I pick up multiple things in a row, it'll freeze. That was how the first one happened and it went downhill from there. And even if it doesn't crash, well, it may as well be a crash as while it sounds like I'm still able to move and do things in the world, the screen itself remains completely frozen. I don't know if its a me specific thing or not or if lower specs tend to struggle as well, but all I know is that I really wish I could play more. This game looks really cool, the movement is so snappy and frantic that I just wanna zip around the world and explore in the little time I got before getting to the next generation, the music is really good and well done and very pleasing to my ears, and just basically everything about it seems like something I'd really enjoy if I could just get it to play nice with me for at least 20 minutes...  I did see a comment about how there are plans to do some bug fixing after the Jam, so I'll be keeping my eye on this to see if maybe I can play it at a later date when some updates are pushed as I do just genuinely want to play this game. It's so cool...

Developer

Wonderful review, and I'm glad you were able to kind of guess what's causing it. That's very helpful.

I'll definitely be updating this game and bringing it to it's fully optimized state post-jam. There's so many things I can do to optimize it, so hopefully first update after jam people will see some massive performance boosts. As a roadmap I als  plan to add in a boss to each area as a way to practice making some cool boss fights; and add in 1 additional area that I didn't have time get into the game.

Thank you for trying to play it as much as you could haha.

So there are faws in this game MASSIVE ones but there is a lots of good as well (I am gonna be honest and frank about how i felt while and after playing)

So after the boot up liked the intro and start menu its lively and interesting and well build the starting couple min were hard for me (probably cause i am not a 3d gamer) which i think isnt the case for most. But like i exploring the world when i randomly died and after a quick respawn found out that the game has a timer sytle health bar

1. First of all the timer being there forced me to stop exploring and just doing stuff which takes away from the experience a lot

2.Second the game gives buffs after the death right, but all i kept getting was dmg boost which tbh i didnt even need all i wanted was battery up which it didnt give i mean if a player cant do stuff fast and dies multiple times maybe just give battery up instead but nope after 4 deaths (not including my first cause that was on me)

3. The  battery dies to often i think and i felt like i was in a tight platformerming section and just failed one jump but now i dont have time to do it again and why is certain sections blocked up if u gonna put a timer on health just let the player go where ever they want and do whatever by locking certain area i felt i got bored and just tired of the game

Now the good :

1. Great level design and music

2. Feels good to play

3. responsive

Anyway thx for reading this and GOODLUCK for future projects :3

Really fun game, I love how bouncy everything feels and the environments are so pleasant to look at

Developer

I'm glad the environments looked great. My first time designing full small little zones!

What an awesome game! You nailed the exploration and the movement is so good! I love how you incorporated the save data with elements of a roguelike. It really adds to the theme of a defective generation slowly improving as you play.

Developer

Appreciate that! EelShep came up with all that roguelike stuff!

great game! I loved the athmosphere and the music, controls were smooth, not always clear what the next goal or next step was. and the walking sound of the robot was a little bit harsh

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! Footsteps sound setting next update. 🙂‍↕️
