What a funny concept! climbing ladders feels great and falling off feels frustrating (in a good way)

Neat game, definitely took me a while to get used to the controls (base instinct was to keep holding the jump button but you pretty much need to release it right away)

Got pretty sick of a certain bird camping the area I needed to get across, so I stopped there, but it was pretty interesting climbing. Initially the controls felt very unreliable but once you start to better understand the movement you need to do to get things to work it becomes a lot easier to get around without falling or staying in one place trying to get a handhold.

Mechanics were interesting, always cool to see people experiment with different movement options.

All my had work has been undone :(

I enjoyed the game, weird controls are ambitious which makes the result cool when they work, and they do here. The length and difficulty of the sequences (mainly the second one) is right on point for the jam.

Thanks for sharing!

Alien successfully defeated, I loved all the mechanics, very fun.

This was really cool and also pleasantly frustrating

Pure kino. Reminds me of the rage games of the mid-late 2000s. I got hit by that bird enemy and fell into a never ending pit of darkness, but I wasn't even upset. Never have I been so happy to be pissed off while playing a game. Great work, and I highly recommend that you expand on this and make a full game out of it.

Very creative use of the limited NES controls and a unique approach to the art. There isn't any music during gameplay which I honestly think is the right decision. It helps you focus. I'd also like to point out how unforgiving the game is, which really does give it an NES-like feel to it. Not much room for error or else you are squirming your hands everywhere trying to latch on to one of the rungs to stop your fall.. All in all, this is refreshing experience after playing a bunch of platformers. Good job!

This is such a funny and fun game! I gotta admit I don't really understand the controls on a mechanical level, but it's surprisingly intuitive! Falling down from very high can be frustrating, but I guess that's only period appropriate!

Reminds me of difficult game about climbing. I like it a lot! But it doesn't feel MUCH like a NES game though, but other aspects are great!

Clever concept! My run ended when I accidentally fell off the screen on the second level and into the infinite abyss, but I think with a bit more tweaking these controls could be _really_ fun. Make sure to get those colliders in place on the edges or respawn the player if they fall or move out of bounds otherwise. Thanks for making and sharing your game!

Thanks for playing, its funny there is actually a specific object that's supposed to stop the player from going too far off screen, I just forgot to put it in another other level besides the first, which I'm pretty sure is the only one you cant go offscreen on. But thanks for pointing that out

Makes sense. Collisions can sometimes fail or behave unexpectedly so I usually try to have some kind of last mile defense for respawning a player; especially if there is any gravity involved!

That is super original!
