First of all, thank you for sharing such a fun game.
The core idea of simply staying in the shadows is wonderfully simple, yet it made me stop and think, and I found myself retrying many times. I had a great time playing it.
I also really liked the premise of a werewolf trying to make it to prom. It's a charming and memorable setting.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get past the third stage, but I really enjoyed the tension created by the moving shadows and the cars rushing toward me.
One thing I noticed—and perhaps others have mentioned this as well—is that it was sometimes difficult to tell exactly where the light's hitbox ended. Also, the only indication that I was taking damage seemed to be the health bar decreasing. There were many moments when I thought I was doing well, only to realize I'd taken heavy damage, and other times I expected to be hit but wasn't.
I think some additional feedback, such as a sound effect or a brief flashing animation when taking damage, would make it much easier for players to understand what happened and improve their gameplay.
Overall, I really enjoyed the game. Thanks again for making and sharing it!
Hi, we indeed added sound to alert players that they are getting damage. We haven't been able to submit the newer version of the game until the jam evaluation ended.
I like your idea of flashing the player, we will implement it and test it and see if we like it.
Thanks for the feedback.
The gameplay is pretty fun! Premise is cool too, love the creativity!
Didn't fully make sense how some stuff effects you but so long as you're jumping you can be in full moonlight? But then again you can roll right into and through an axe swing in Dark Souls and still come out unscathed so maybe I shouldn't apply logic to video games.
The jumping is fun and does break away from otherwise sticking to the shadows and following along them.
I really enjoyed the creative ways that shadows were cast in the game, the flag raising and lowering being my favorite, very cool visual.
If you were to expand upon the game later, I think it'd be really cool to add ways for the player to interact with the environment, and get stuff to show up and cast shadows that wouldn't otherwise be there.
For it's current state it's pretty enjoyable as is!
Hi, thanks for the review.
We wanted to add some puzzles into the game, such as moving boxes to create shadows. But We didn't have the time, we may expand the game later.
Loved the gameplay here, it's very cool!
Graphics don't exactly FEEL like a nes game, but the spritework is good!
Cool idea, I like the many ways you play around with the shadows, like the flags and such. It would be nice to have some kind of more immediate feedback when you're being hurt, maybe just something simple like having the player sprite flashing bright or something like that.
I made it to Prom!
This game is both silly and creative, what more could you ask for?! It was super fun, the game controls well, there are some diverse sequences and the trucks in the last level especially were a great twist. The difficulty and length of the levels is perfect, it took me a couple of tries just as I wanted at the moment.
Maybe one thing, what exact part of the character shouldn't be exposed is not clear.
Thanks for sharing!
Fun game! Didn't manage level 3...
I keep wondering what I've been doing wrong to always die on the dog flag.
But it's a very interesting and fun concept.
That's a really interesting concept!
Cool concept! I like the use of navigating the shadows to avoid the moonlight :-) The variation in mechanics was cool with the flag and moving shadows.
Loving the vibes here!
