I was a little confused about how the mutations worked, but once I figured it out it was pretty fun! I wish the time controls had a hotkey since it was a little tough to manage the watering and keep all turtles at bay when I had to click the time controls directly.
An interesting cozy game (until the turtles arrive :D). The music really adds to the atmosphere. I liked the mutation system and the variety of crops. I really enjoyed the game.
This game was much harder than I expected once the turtles came into play. Also, I was too greedy and accepted too many goals. 😅 This was a lot of fun, and really well thought out. Nice job!
Glad to see the multitasking/prioritizing element come into play! Thanks for checking it out :)
The mutation mechanics were interesting, it’s always fun trying to optimize spending resources with that chance to get that reward you’re looking for. I felt like the potential for cool synergies was good too with the combination mechanic (though a few times I did lose all my crops that had the good trait combos on them due to the time running out). Trying out different trait combinations to see what happens has a bit of that engaging mechanic exploration in it. The turtles didn’t pose much of a challenge for me since I got lucky with the sour trait, but later on I did see how they brought some of that multitasking prioritization gameplay too. I will say though some mechanics felt overexplained while others felt underexplained at first, like how the description on itch.io explains how to use all the tools, but the game ended up already having a tutorial that explains everything intuitively. In contrast, I felt like I didn’t really understand the mutation points much at first. I just watched the points go down as I gambled for some cool traits. Most importantly though I ran out of mutation points completely after unknowingly spending most of them mutating the ultimate wheat only to lose out on all my seeds to the level timer and then have too few to buy new plants for the later levels.
Thanks for the detailed comment! Sounds like you had a similar experience to some other people with the mutation point mechanics. I didn't want to put another big wall of text in the game so I put off making a tutorial for the mutation machine while I worked on other stuff but then I didn't get back around to it in time... Something to keep in mind for the next jam.
Thanks for checking it out :)
Cozy and cute!
This is pretty good. There are lots of crops, each with their own growing style, which adds a lot of personality to them surprisingly.
Thanks for checking it out! Glad you enjoyed the variation in the crops :)
Very cute art style, very cozy gameplay.
Very good game. I really liked the art style of the locations and plants. The music is also good, but it started to get a bit boring after a couple of minutes
Congratulations on successfully completing the game for this jam, and best of luck with your future projects!
Agreed on the music; it could use a couple more tracks. I think I still hear it in my dreams after working on the game for long hours...
Thanks for checking it out! :)
