Thank you for a fun game! Getting to read all the unique abilities and explore the different rooms was great!
The enemies flavour text had me laughing

My favourite was:

Tina from Accounting and the washing machine

Played it off-stream 21min58sec here:

Agree with most folks here your graphics and audio were really good (the music was SUPER loud for me but you had an audio slider so it worked out).  While I was playing I couldn't really figure out how the build mode was tied to the combat mode and then I read a few comments here and it was clearer. I really want to see where you take this. I like these kinds of games (anything space themed really) but getting more of the FTL style stuff in there will be really cool. Solid work for a jam game. Thanks for making it!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah I'd like to continue working on this one, so hearing stuff like this is very motivating!

Beautiful visual art, but I must say the sound was the real winner. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you, the music was really fun to make so I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Great Intro. Nice pixel art and music was notably good. Feels very competent. I wasn't sure if there would be an end. The UI is good at giving you some useful info but I still felt I wasn't sure of my direction. A few short lines of text on how things are going to progress as you enter the main UI maybe?  I might have missed something the text said in the nice intro though. Very nice!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah there's no ending (yet), I was mostly showcasing UI elements and general mechanical concepts. Next jam I'll definitely focus more on guidance. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Shame you didn't get a chance to implement more of the FTL like aspects of the game, but what you've got so far is very impressive considering the limited time.

As far as testing UI elements I think you did a pretty good job, it all comes together nicely.

Nice work.

Developer

Thank you! I'm probably going to keep working on this one so I appreciate your feedback and kind words. Thanks for playing!

Nice music! Love the pixel art as well.

Developer

Thank you!

Amazing pixel art execution, the UI, Animations and Transitions are great, and there is good Sound Design, kind of sad that there is not more Gameplay, because I wanted to venture further in the universe !

Developer

Thank you! That's actually good to hear as I plan on beefing up the gameplay in the future, thanks for playing!

I love the wacky space vibe in general. In the art, the description of the space monster, the sound... I need to mention the tavern inside the ship and Jane and Tina looking so salty, aside from Lars so happy to be there. The cinematic at the beginning, very classy. The game already has a nice personality! Honestly I was completely lost after the cinematic. I started clicking around to try stuff, didn't know what was expected of me, and couldn't see much of the consequences of my actions. I played it a second time and it felt easier. A tutorial would be a nice addition. But no worries, for a solo project on 9 days, this is a very nice submission, congratulations on your work !

Do you plan to keep working on it?

Developer

Hey thank you! Yes I plan to keep working on it, I had some plans for the battle and ship integration that I didn't have time to complete, so I'd like to see where those mechanics take the game. Thank you very much for playing!

It’s quite a complex game. I don’t understand how you managed to create something like this in just 9 days. The intro is brilliant, and the art and sound design are excellent too. It’s missing a tutorial, it’s quite difficult to work out what is expected of you. I still haven’t worked out what the button below the attack button is for. I liked the variety of rooms and the different stats for the characters. It’s a very good foundation for a great game.

Developer

Thank you! I pulled an all-nighter before the jam submission to finish what I could of the battle system, so I appreciate that you enjoyed some of its complexities (makes it feel like it wasn't a waste of time). Next jam I'm in, I'm definitely going to set aside some time to make a comprehensive tutorial, the last few games I've made I keep getting that feedback so I need to start listening XD

Submitted(+1)

Damn the audio integration in this game is insane! All the details in the UI were really nice to look at and the transitions between music tracks was really nicely executed. Although, I was a bit confused on the game loop since there were many stats that were unused, but it is a really neat UI showcase. Super cool!

Developer

Thank you, I mean talk about audio integration I thought your game was insane as well! Yeah I think the scope was a bit too big on this project to get all of the 'desired' mechanics in, so a lot of the gameplay elements are aspirational at the moment

Cool intro sequence, I like the concept of an FTL like game where you can design your ship. Took me a bit to get my bearings but after that it clicked.

Developer

Thank you, yeah I really enjoyed making the intro! Originally I wanted the ship builder to have a bit more influence on the gameplay but ran out of time unfortunately, thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I really enjoyed the intro, pixel art aesthetic and the music but felt kind of lost when it came to the gameplay. No worries though, it's very impressive for a solo game jam build ! Keep it up :)

Developer

Thank you!

Very impressive intro sequence! The graphics and sound design were top notch.. you clearly have talent in these areas. Agree with another commenter, would like to see more depth to the battle and ship building mechanics, but the bones are there and given enough time I can see this game having commercial appeal.

Developer(+1)

Thank you, these are very kind words I very much appreciate! But yeah, too many bones, not enough meat. I kind thought that would be the case going into this project, but I'd like to continue working it to expand on some of the ideas. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

The visual and audio presentation was spot on, that intro movie and vibes was fantastic! The battle music was really catchy too (I was bopping away haha). I would love to see where you'd take the mechanics of the ship building and battle mechanics to add some depth to the experience, but great job on the presentation side of things, very polished!

Developer(+1)

Hey thank you! I had a lot of fun making the music so I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've been getting some good feedback so I'm thinking of continuing this one so I can expand the mechanical depth, thanks for playing!

Dam the art and audio of tis game is very very good espeially the openiing sen straight out of a movie lol

But the game has a bit ddifiult learning curve ,it took me a couple minute sto understand how to do anyhting but fater those first miuntes it was easy as heck

Crazy good game much better than mine but a bit hard to get used too

Developer

Thank you, the intro was very fun to make! And totally, the battle system and guidance need some extra attention, I might experiment with some tooltips next time rather than just a description window. Thank you for playing and don't put yourself down, your game was great, anyone who manages to get a submission in for one of these jams should feel good!

Submitted(+1)

well well that's one hell of a game

the very first frame was promising and the rest did not disappoint

though gameplay is very complex a tutorial would do wonders here, even if there are some explanations those are difficult to find

the polish you have on your game is definitely the forte that makes this so wonderful

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm still trying to get the scope limitations right, so I'll definitely block out a chunk of time for tutorials next jam b/c it's been kind of a weak point for me. Thanks again for playing!

Submitted(+1)

You did a great job on this for such a short amount of time! It reminded me of Final Fantasy 3, so you really captured that vintage/nostalgic feel!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for the kind words!

The atmosphere reminds me of cobalt core! Amazing atmosphere!

After playing some more time, I really feel like I'm missing drag and drop (as a piece of feedback)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! Y'know drag and drop was something i didnt consider, but now that you mention it I'll definitely keep it in mind for the future. Also I'll check out cobalt core it looks really cool

Submitted(+1)

It kind of reminds me of FTL. Loved the cutscene in the beginning. haha

It's incredible that you made this complex game in this short amount of time. Nicely done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

The game looks great, the intro and the monster sprites especially! The rooms remind me of planning out base layouts in the old xcom games. I was a little sad to see the mechanics weren’t actually implemented, but I really like the idea. :)

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah sometimes I go too much into the art and sometimes I get too much into the gameplay, I think if I do a few more jams I'll start to get the hang of it
