How did you implement the Theme: Death Game in your game?
In the game you are up against a child (a game master) which takes over control of your mind / will and forces you to play with her. With each game you lose, you lose more of your autonomy and therefore more of yourself, which gives her total control of you. What is dying is less you, and more your identity.
Did you implement any of the Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
The Gamemaster (the girl seeks you and challenges you to games)
Does your game contain AI-generated assets?
No

Really cool idea, and the music really helped sell the atmosphere! I didn't quite get to finish it, but I'm going to keep playing after the jam because I want to see the full story! Nice job!
Hey Aaron, great to hear that you enjoyed the game so far! unfortunately we don't have a saving system, but we have uploaded an improved version, if you don't mind playing again =) btw. there are two endings actually, if you don't lose a game against her, you get the "true" ending.
Hahaha, I was planning on playing from the beginning again, no problems there! I'm excited to see the endings!
The game seems great! The terminal was incredible, seriously genius. The thing is, I didn't go further than the first objective simply because of the Famous camera glitch. I'm pretty sure I know why it is happening. So, the camera glitch seems to be happening because the cursor is getting to the edge of the screen. This explains why higher sensitivity, pausing, and going into a different window help it. The SFX is great, art is great. Really unfortunate I couldn't play it. Really need to know what the objective is, and if it wasn't for Nave, I wouldn't have finished the first one. The problem is that once I reached the kitchen and the door wouldn't open, I didn't know what the problem was and if it was a bug or not. The options, too, are impeccable. I tried to give it a fair rating based on the little I played and what the others said. I wouldn't just give all ones because of the one bug. 4/10, the bug and unclearness renders it unplayable even if it seems like a great game.
PS, this will likely be the only game I come back to, if the bug gets fixed.
Sorry to hear that your experience was cut short due to the camera glitch =/
We have it fixed now and wholeheartedly invite you to give it another try!
Thanks for your feedback, we will take some time and think about how to give the player clearer directions. We have polished the game furthed, improved player feedback and changed some log notes for more orientation. Wish you a lot of fun =)
Don't worry about that, I love to hear that you have fixed it. I'll have to play it sometime this week! My 4/10 probably was a bit harsh, from the little I played, I'd imagine the rest of it being 7.5-8/10.
With the help of Nave I was able to finish this game lol.
I really enjoyed it, I loved the atmosphere, the PSX style, and I absolute love the posterization effects on the environment that gave it a really grungy feel.
The story I wasn’t a fan of at first but as I playedthe game it was more and more interesting, and the little notes laid around for the player to find to uncover what was going on was a nice touch.
I loved the puzzle with figuring out commands for the terminal. It stumped me at first but I was finally able to figure out what all the commands were and then progressed further than Nave did.
I encountered the same bug he did but found pausing and unpausing my game resolved it, so I was able to finish.
The jumpscares int he game actually scared me, I think due to the sound design of the game just making me on edge the entire time, and with the final reveal of the final task I was really starting to feel the blood pumping through me.
I loved this game so much! Well done all!
Thank you so much for your feedback, it gave us the right hint to solve the camera glitch!
Also thank you and your team for playing our game and sharing your impressions with us. It really gave us a big motivation boost to do the work and further polish the game for the rest of the time =)
This is a really cool game, I love the low poly aesthetic. The setting which seems to be in a futuristic space research station is awesome, the narrow halls and creepy corridors remind me a bit of Alien, my favorite movie. The low quality visuals do make the text hard to read on the menus sometimes. It's also really vague what my objective is sometimes, I got pretty lucky that right at the start of the game I just happened to find the terminal that you use to open doors and lockers and figured it out quickly, but I could easily see getting lost and having no idea what to do. An objective marker or even just text stating your objective would be very helpful, I kept getting lucky. Until my luck ran out. Very early on, I encountered some bug which forced my camera to get stuck to always look in one direction, with very limited ability to look a little left or right from that direction. I could no longer look around 360 degrees like normal, which made navigation difficult and it made finding things difficult too. I was making it work up through the ball-cup game, but then I think because of this bug I was softlocked as I could no longer look at the terminal to open any doors if I needed to. I really like the character design, the ambient and creepy sounds and music, the lore notes and worldbuilding, it all does a really good job at building an interesting story and keeping the player on edge. I honestly wish I could have played more and finished it! But sadly the bug is preventing this. I hope to see more like this game! 10/10
I am sorry to hear that you encountered such a game breaking bug, still great to hear you enjoyed it =) We further polished the game (unfortunately, marker or quest logs were not part of it) and were able to fix the camera bug. Thanks for giving it a try!
The glitch effect made it difficult to read some of the text on the settings screen.
The game looks good. The atmosphere is well done. It's kind of spoiled by the poor cover image though, which doesn't do the game's aesthetics justice.
When you interact with locked doors, there should be an audio feedback to indicate their status. Other than that, the sound design was great. The music really fitted the atmosphere.
You don't need to write "[E] interact", just writing "[E]" suffices.
There was minor clipping. Some of the shiny/reflective textures seemed off to me, like they were unintentionally catching my eye. Only interactive objects should do that.
The layout of the ship is good. It's not so big that you need a map, but large enough for a decent amount of content.
The writing was good and creepy. Nice twist, I guess no matter what you do, she just keeps wiping your memory to continue tormenting you.
All in all, a great game!
