Fun to play and a bit more difficult than you would think at first.

This game is fun, but super difficult.  I think one nice enhancement would be some feedback on hit/hurt, and some knockback, even if it's small.  I feel that would go a long way to helping with some of the difficulty.  Once I realized they will turn around when you are behind them, it changed how I approached it.

super valid, ty. i played it so much during development i think i got too desensitized and then kinda forgot how vague and opaque it felt to get hit lolll.

Developer

since a lot of ppl are struggling with the difficulty...wanted to post a quick yt video (~20seconds long) of some cheese strats.

TLDW: teleport/jump/slide can all be used together, back-to-back, to generate nearly infinite i-frames. and then the turtles will change direction based on where you are, relative to them, the relevant lane.

It's a fun game. Nice art style too. The player animations for teleporting and attacking are really nice and I really liked them.  But it's hard to tell when I was hit but I liked how I had quite a few lives so there was leeway and could figure out a strategy or two.

Developer

thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Your art style and animation are the stand outs in this game. Would've been nice to have music and sound, maybe some i-frames when getting hit, but overall, nice entry for your first jam!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

really appreciate that, thank you! and great feedback about i-frames, i was getting pretty frustrated towards the end getting it to feel polished haha so ya a very valid critique.

i'm proficient in Reaper (DAW), but i have yet to add music / sound to any of my games and this jam made me realize how important it is. next game i def want to commit to not cutting my sound scope haha.

I'm excited to check out your game! the cover art looks to dieeee for.

Oh man, if you’ve got audio skills you’re leaving money on the table! Good music and sound design can take a game from ok to great! If I had your skills, music would be the first thing I work on; I tend to leave it for last so it’s always an afterthought in my games.

Developer

ahh that's super helpful! prioritizing music/sound early instead of saving for later is genius. tysm <3

Would love to slow it down! it kicked my butt! thanks for submitting! would like your rating and comment too, thanks!

Developer

my initial vision was to include more spells / power-ups and 'slow time' is a great idea - so ty for the feedback. i will definitely check yours out!! i'm loving getting to see everyone's games and the comments are so fun! :)
