Add a grapple hook to any game and you'll win me over
Nice work. I wish the swinging physics had a bit more potential for swinging really hard and flying off, but it was still very fun. Nice work, it's rare to see linear experiences with proper level design like this in a jam. Keep making games!
Grapple hooks are my jam. They're quite fun to implement!
And yeah, I got a couple Newton's First Law violation complaints from my friends as well when they played this game, the tight control scheme had to sacrifice the fun of momentum in the process, unfortunately. Thanks very much!
Had a lot of fun. It's a pretty good platformer; the web mechanics are quite smooth and enjoyable. I wish the game had more mechanics besides the moving platforms and the web itself, but the level design was good, so it’s not a big deal. I’m also not entirely sure how well this game fits the theme, since it’s not exactly a spin.
But in any case, thanks for the game and to Mom for the idea)
Very cool! Yeah, a lot of this game included a lot of bugs to unpack (moving platforms especially), so that ended up dragging down how much content I could make, but I'm glad you enjoyed it! Also yeah, my approach to the theme was not quite as intuitive or gameplay-oriented (i.e. spin webs to spin the gears of the clock tower to win), so I can see how it might be a bit unsatisfactory, but I enjoyed that spin (hehe) on it.
And you're very welcome! My mom deserves the credit indeed. (Your game was also very good)
This is SO GOOD!! The grappling feels soooo smooth, and the whole idea of it is also sick! I really like how the movement feels though, its so fluid and satisfying
The visuals are also really cool, the whole vibe of the place is amazing
Thank you very much! The physics were a very fun thing to implement and fine-tune, so I'm thankful they worked out so well! Also the vibes just felt natural with this idea from the get-go. Those were both of the things I tried hardest to pull off, so I'm super glad they worked out!
A fun platformer with a grapple! spinning a web is a neat twist on the prompt and I'm glad some people have done it!The visuals looked pretty and the vibe of it being a solemn climb through a big golden clocktower was pretty sick, I like the setting!
The grappling felt really nice to do, it's a movement that is fun and swingy! I wish there was a bit more momentum to going through it though. I will say that the level design left a bit to be desired, the cycle gameplay felt very sluggish which resulted in the pace of the game feeling like it was dragging a bit. Also I was missing more sound design, but I understand that these things can happen during a crunch! Very cool game you guys put together, I hope you place well in the jam!
Thanks! I'm super glad you enjoyed the setting, it might be my favorite one I've done for a game so far. Also glad you caught the idea from the theme of the jam, as some others didn't get it quite as much.
And er, yeah, amid some unscrupulous bugs that arose during my time making the levels, I couldn't make them totally polished in the name of having a decent amount of them, so I get how they can be not as satisfactory as desired. Glad the physics were good though, as I spent a few days perfecting them.
The platforming was fun and rewarding. Music was good, and the overall level design was solid. The length of the game was also longer than I expected for a jam which was nice. Shoutout to your mom for the idea. Great job!
Many Thanks! And yeah my mom had a legendary creative spark for this game indeed...
Very cute! Swinging around is very fun!
this game was so much fun! I also loved the art style and now want a cute little spider as a pet
Thank you, fellow spider enjoyer. And yeah my sister is very pleased since she was the masterclass artist for this.
Man this game is so good i like it alot its given me hope to play more platformers. Keep it up bro and please add mobile controls i wanna play more levels if you want to we can work on it together !!!!!
Why, Thank you so much for the supporting words! I mean, I didn't have all too many plans for the future of this game as of yet, but perhaps for fans like these I'll return to the project...
I like the mechanic alot, we love grappling hooks. I think the levels were a little too big, and relied too much on cycles, though. However, I really like the art style and movement, great job!
Love the grappling hook-type mechanic and the whole presentation! Reminds me of Webbed, one of my favorite cozy games. My only criticism is that there wasn't that much spinning, mostly swinging, but it was fun.
Thanks! I haven't played that game, but I did know about it and it was somewhat of an aesthetic inspiration. The spinning was more conceptual (as in, you spin webs to spin the gears of the clock to win) so I can see how that's not quite as up front.
A game with a grabbling mechanic is a good game. I luv the little spider
The main swinging mechanic is really fun, I just wish there wasn't so much waiting for platforms. Maybe if they were a bit quicker? Really fun though great work!
nice style!
Swinging around is so much fun! I loved the design of the final section with the blocks moving up and down that you track through multiple times. I did find it difficult to scale walls when there wasn't a ceiling around, but that situation only happened a couple times. Oh also the end screen was very nice, big fan! Good work :)
Thanks! The swinging and moving block interactions were my favorite parts of the levels to make as well. The levels are all built around not necessarily having to scale walls, but I always left that in as some extra flexibility. Also my sister is responsible for that art, so she would be very pleased :)
The swinging mechanic feels SO good! Loved the detail of the little sounds when you do, big fan of the visuals too, they're charming even if the scale is consistently very strange. Jumping felt real bad but it's ignorable because you can usually just swing everywhere. Very clean execution overall!
He saw my level building assets, it's all over...
But in all seriousness, thanks a bunch! Yeah the platforming couldn't be all the way polished since I put most of my focus into the web mechanic, so I'm glad that part came out well!
Loved the swing mechanic! And the gears turning in the background while all the platforms start moving is cool. Going fullscreen keeps the screen small btw so I would recommend fixing that. Otherwise great job!
Thanks! I really enjoyed putting in flavor features like that, and I'd recommend it as it really helps with the immersion of the game. Also yeah I just noticed that, turns out I didn't need to add the itch setting for a fullscreen button as that just makes unnecessary complications, so I just fixed it. Thanks for letting me know.
cool theme representation, had fun playing, the only thing is that fingers hurt after playing
I relate to that. They hurt even more after making it. Many thanks!
still it's a great work, I appreciate your work on it
Swinging was really fun and the spider was real cute
Very nice and serious. I really enjoyed how you could do things like move gears with the web to do things
Thank you. Spiders are indeed quite versatile creatures...
This was fun! I really enjoyed the swinging mechanic, felt very smooth. The music choice was good as well, gave the game a very chill feel to it. Nice work!
Many thanks! The web mechanic was fun to balance and get down just right. Also this was my first time making music for a game jam, so I'm really glad you liked it!
