Really good potential game !
You need to had more variation of item and mob and it'll be a cool little video game ! (And sounds haha)
Just to let you know, it's impossible to get it when you are on the bottom of the screen (cf picture)
Hey thank you so much but please play it in fullscreen I did not optimise the ui and all for different screen sizes ( ik mb ill fix it in the next update ) and well there are many spots where you can stand stil and spam and nothing will happen to you, regardless, the game is nothing but a prototype, I hope to built it from the ground up and upload the new version on itch after the jam ends!
Definitely has a lot of potential here! Its such a good base for a full on roulette based boss rush which could definitely be interesting! There are some flaws on the gameplay, polish, and audio side but overall, I still had a bit of fun with this short experience! Well done!
Hey thank you! A roulette based boss rush is definitely the plan but this is all I could manage in this minimal time I had. However, I have began work on basically an overhaul to this game which takes this formula but packages in a whole new face but well its a long way there, I hope you check the game after I update it too!
Ooohh definitely! Sounds like a plan!
Great idea! Adding some chance at variety. I like the choices to make the projectiles of the boss take damage from the players projectile. The way the boss spawns his attack half of it ends up acting like a shield for him. Great first game!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I wish there were more bosses/combinations, but for what there is it is enjoyable! Could be fun to make the spinner also determine the boss' weapon too.
AYO! That is honestly such a ( seriously )peak idea, although that would require quite allat of work to setup but that is a peak idea that I would love to implenment, thank you so much for your feedback!
That a neat concept! It's a little barebones as it is of course but the idea is pretty solid!
AINT NO WAY, THE MASTER OF HONSES, DATSNAPPYBOI HIMSELF, SIR TEACH ME YOUR WAYS
Pretty cool for your first game! it's short but sweet
I replayed it twice as well to check other weapons and variations , pretty cool
adding sound effects would have made it a lot better as well
glad to see you had lots of fun making it as well, keep going!
Also if you want feedback for future games since it's ur first time making a game:
Good luck!
Thank you so much for the helful tips man! I would 100% incorporate these in the near future as I am hoping to bring this game much closer to what I originally envisioned. p.s I have never heard about the sound pitch thing and now that I think about it it sounds pretty genius!
np np, always glad to help smth new out,
the sound pitch thing is in all games but your brain won't notice it much unless u start thinking about it , if there's no chainging for the pitch it will be very annoying to hear , for my game for example i change the pitch of hitting the reflector or goal thingies
Very promisimg idea! wish there was more to the jam version
Thank you :D I hope to soon update the game as I had lots of fun making it!
Its very good concept! Neat SNES/Sega Mega Drive graphics. It really reminds me of Vampire Survivors. Maybe you can add spinning wheel with powerups during the game. Nice game.
Hey thank you! The SNES style graphics were just a coincidence, this is the first project where I tried pixel art properly so I just went with what looked good, the powerups/buffs were defenitely a plan, however I planned them to be after the weapon wheel, since I want the boss fight to go uninterrupted, regardless I didn't have the time to implement it, maybe if I continue work on this i'll add it!
I really liked your interpretation of the theme to create a randomizer for a boss fighting game! It was fun to replay and try the different combinations of class and weapon. I totally understand not having enough time to implement everything you wanted to as I have also submitted games to jams with less features than I would have liked. I think piece of feedback I have is to make the different classes and different weapons play/fucntion differently rather than just having different stats to make the randomization more impactful.
Hey thanks for your feedback and thats what I initially wanted, although a bit different, my plan was to add randomizers for abilties ( like dashes, blocks, parries etc ) and another for buffs but honestly, the characters are pretty basic as of now since they are nothing more than visual changes and basic stat differences so I would love to incorporate the class system into the game!
Nice work! I see you have a strong vision in mind for this one.
The time limit of the game jam can be brutal, but I can totally see this becoming a really cool game if you keep developing it!
…now, if the boss randomization can change even the genre of the game, like from a bullet hell to a soulslike kinda combat, wouldn’t that be interesting? ;)
You wouldnt believe me but the idea was very much inspired from boss and item randomizer mods for souls-like games! I wanted to make a boss inspired by Dark Souls III but time was really short so bullet hell bos was what I landed on. Thanks for playing the game! if i see support for this prototype I might just completely overhaul the game! ( and also add that souls-like boss ;) )
This is an awesome proof of concept especially for a solo dev!! Sound effects would really bring it to life if you had more time. One art thing I might recommend is making the stone tile more faded/lower contrast (lighter greys for the darkest areas). Because the pattern is higher contrast than the player & boss and is more 'detailed', it can get hard to look at the screen for longer and distracts a bit from the focus (player, boss). I'd also recommend consistency of linework style with the interactable, e.g. black outline around the boss since it's around for the projectiles and player as well. Laughed when I got the gun, I hope you make a version that includes some close range weapons too! :)
Thank you so much! I love to get tips from devs with more experience. The art was something i struggled with allot, I just had no idea how to make the stones less detailed whilst making them still look like stones. About the linework, I wanted the boss to give it but yet again I just didnt have time. Your game's artwork was beautiful so maybe if I can reach you out somehow, you can teach me your ways!
very cool idea and use of the theme!
this could be a really cool roguelike if you added more variety(like you said in the description). i think the game would feel more complete if you added audio.(its possibly a problem on my side that i cant hear any audio, if so, im very sorry)
overall, it was a lot of fun to play:D
Thank you so much for playing the game! and no unfortunately the audio is not a issue on your side but I actually didnt have time to implement it, hopefully after the jam ends I might just completely over haul the game
i would love to play it after the overhaul:D
Cool stuff for a first game, great that you managed to get it out in time. The main gripe would probably be the lack of other bosses for that one spin but I can see the concept, I was curious on the difference between the heroes aswell because it seems like the only thing that matters for the player is the weapon and even then they are both pretty similar.
Hey, first of all thanks for playing the game! To your questions, I had planned to make 2 bosses, 1 that ran away from the player and shot them ( which ended up being The Goblin King ) and another, a knight, which would dash to the players position and slash them, however, I couldn't even complete the ai of the first one, regardless, the only difference the characters have is hp and speed, the knight dies in 4 hits but is slower whereas the wizard is faster but dies in 3 hits. As for the weapons, the only difference is their projectile's speed and their cooldowns. Thanks again for playing the game
Got this on my queue; and sorry to say I'm not quite sure what I am supposed to be doing.
I think the idea of randomly generated bosses based on the spin is really cool but unfortunately I don't think it's working correctly at the moment.
Hey thank you for your feedback, this was ( and is ) my first game and unfortunately, all the complex boss AI and multiple bosses I had planned, I was unable to implement, regardless I am fixing the bugs at the moment and will soon upload the fixed version!
Hey, anybody who ends up playing this, just know that I couldnt complete it in time, I had boxes for menus and much more ready at my disposal but due to the limit of time, I was unable to complete it, and I know the game runs in slow motion right now so I will try my best to fix it as soon as possible!
