Peak title and art!  The song was initially a little off-putting, like some of the notes were off-key, but the style really grew on me as I continued to grate, and now it's stuck in my head.  I love pausing and dramatically holding the background note when you miss.

Really cool experience you crafted here; kudos!

I really liked it. I'm not good at rhythm, but it was very serious. I liked the visuals a lot... it looked like a black and white cartoon.
Sing, O Rats, For the Cheese will not grate itself,
Long have we toiled on curds from the shelf,
One day we long for dichotomous joy,
But for now we must toil, e'ry girl and boy.

One must imagine these rats happy 😭

Very unique idea, love the vibes of this game :) I managed to grate 102g of cheese and I can only hope that my hard-working rat comrades are able to enjoy at least a morsel of it for their hard work.

Also, really love that you've added the ability to customize the controls here. That's the sort of extra touch that isn't typical for a game jam game. Well done guys :)

When will the rats know peace from this wicked Sisyphean task of cheese grating. Will the comrades ever free them from this loop?

Audio was incredibly buggy for me, but a very cute concept with a well-executed visual style. Unfortunately the audio issue really soured the experience, but I liked how it ramped up overall.

Thanks for letting me know! If it's ok to ask, what platform were you using (which web browser/Windows/Linux)?

Chrome on windows! I've come to learn as I play more games that this is just a thing that happens for me lol, mostly on 3d games though. Largely a hardware issue since I'm using integrated graphics on a laptop

This game was oddly addictive once I got the hang of it. I really liked the art style as well. Did you make all the assets yourself? Seeing all the different styles and the ideas they support is definitely my favorite things about game jams. The ambiance of your game really makes me feel like I am supporting the rat war efforts. Fantastic work with this project!

Thank! As for the assets, I'm quite happy with how they turned out. I'm usually more of a maths guy which is how I got the cheese working (lots of shaders, and a simple noise texture), whereas for the background and the rats, I used Krita. The rat animations were done with Godot's Skeleton2D, it turns out to be simpler that one would expect, at least for this case where there's really just one animation and it's... well, just making sure the feet stay on the floor and the hands are at the right place.
