I enjoyed the game it but it was a bit to hard

I think the concept is there, but it's kind of just too hard to know where the ball is facing when in motion. The red dot is blending into the background too much, I think, because they have similar color saturation, and that's making it kind of impossible for me to get past the first 2 or so platforms. Also, I think having the attachment point on the ball be completely reliant on the ball's rotation makes it the possibility of grabbing onto the upper platforms....basically up to chance, if that makes sense. I think it would've been more enjoyable or doable if the player had some control over where they can shoot the red line.

Super cool game, it is a little hard to tell which way your ball is facing though.

Developer

Thanks for the rating.

Cool game! Shout out to those who got through the first level lol. Unfortunately, I was not one of those people. After successfully grappling twice I would find myself spinning too fast to time the third and end up falling off the planet. I won't repeat the comments, but more player feedback and an easier first level may help with the difficulty. Otherwise, nicely done!

Developer

Thanks, I am already designing an fix to the spinning and aiming. Dont know if I can update mid jam probably not.

Developer

Forgot to write this before but the game works with keyboard ( space ) , mouse ( left click ), controller (Xbox A ) and touch ( tap and hold ).

Unfortunatly I really suck lol, it took me so long to finish the 1st level, and I kinda just gave up on level 2.

the game was pretty fun to learn and get into, though!!

Lil feedback:

  • Visible grapple point: It would really help to make the grapple a bit more visible, if that means a little glow (maybe even pulsing every once in a while), making it bigger, or adding clickbait [GRAPPLE HERE] arrows and circles. The color does a bit of the job, but it has very little contrast for me personally
  •  Tutorial level: I know level 1 gives you the basics on how to play, but it's kind of rough (or I just suck lol). It would help to give a bit more open space and or be a bit more forgiving so both people who can absolutely crush it, and people who suck (or just me), can have a pretty decent start
  • Physics polish: The physics feel very artificial, I know thats so the ball keeps on and doesn't just stop, but I feel like  things like improved acceleration, more realistic gravity (not dropping like a rock),  more natural/realistic direction changing, or hell maybe a subtle bounce would help the game a ton (maybe even feel more polished and satisfying
  • Blury font: The font especially on the death screen is pretty dang blurry, you should probably disable anti-aliasing and or make sure the pixel sizes of most things are decently consistent.

mb if that was a bit much, but great job on the game dude, it was pretty cool

(Edit: oh ya pls add fullscreen)

The font turned out blurry and i could not fix it in time as i focused on the gameplay.
The full screen issue is with my game resolution and my art it kinda got scrambled since I was rushing.

Thanks for the feedback appreciated for sure.

i had a difficult time grappling but enjoyed it when i could (T ^ T) !

Developer

Tanks for playing and I hope you had fun.

It was fun, but it was a bit hard / frustrating for me to time the grapple, specially because sometimes it didn't grapple at all (red dot pointing to a wall -> I click -> grapple sound fired but nothing happened).

Developer

Yeah that is a bug that i could not fix in time, sorry for that.

looks like an eyeball that can shoot spider webs, not sure if it is my hardware but I can't seem to be able to time it right, or the "ball" spin way to quick, why can't I used awsd... I guess the core movement is just the webs...

I didn't get to Playtest so the difficulty might be too high as only I played it.
I made the game on a raspberry pi 5 4gb so it should run well on even low end hardware.

"on a raspberry pi 5 4gb"? That is insane, somehow I still got lag, or maybe it's just the controls.

I make everything on it, my games , flutter apps and even some machine learning stuff.

I am working on a custom Linux distro and I use it as I have optimised it for performance it is based on void Linux.

It was fun, though I found it pretty difficult to control or know where I was going to end up. I could only get to level 3 :'( The physics of the 'hooking' effect felt great.

Developer

Thanks this was my first time making pure physics gameplay as i usually focus on narrative games
