Superslop!  Dude!

It was so cool seeing the changes you made from the first iteration!  Adding the UFOs and train mechanics has added a ton to your game!  Great job!

Wow. What a wonderfully fun game! It feels so smooth and polished. The visuals are simple but perfect. The level designs were on top. Well done.

As a fellow golf-like maker... good job! I love the isometric visuals, and the color palette was pleasing. When I finished the game, I wanted to try for more high scores. The levels were all distinct, despite the relatively low number of different terrains. The music was good, if a bit overwhelming when it pumped me up near the end.

I did use a controller, and I was pinching my right stick to rotate instead of using just my thumb. Feels good.

The ramps do not feel very natural at first, but I got used to them.
There were times I could not see the direction the car was facing due to the wind-up being in the way.
Whenever my car bounced off a wall, the controls reversed. This made it nearly impossible to handle in that space. Not sure what you can do about this.
Was there an option to retry for a better score immediately after winning? If not, add one.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Hello! The ramps did not feel natural because they are UNNATURAL! I could not get real physics working so I faked it 😈.

I actually added a mute button for myself because playtesting the harder levels with the intense songs going 24/7 was accumulating too much cortisol lol.

Thank you for playing that's awesome and I am glad you played on a controller that was by far my favorite way to play.

Your golf-like was great! I don't know how disc golf didn't cross my mind this game jam, I have a real life disc golf backpack not sitting too far away from me and yours felt good!
Your smart level design shined and I finished at only+ 2 over par despite a series of highly questionable throws on hole 3πŸŒοΈβ›³!
 Go go golf-likes!

Golf is really just a gold mine for game concepts. Thanks for playing my game!

Really great game, I played with a controller!

Landing the wind up car in an area around the golf hole and making the score proximity based to the hole is really smart. I loved the gimmicks that popped up as I went, especially having trains enter the equation. I was only a bit disappointed when the new gimmicks stopped showing up and the last 10 holes or so were using what the player has already been exposed to. Was still very fun regardless!

Visually it is very cute and effective. Loved the music!

I thought it would be cool if on one of the later levels if I landed on the upper slope of a ramp I just hit it and slid back down, instead I clipped through it lol.

My only pet-peeve were to levels where you are slowly spinning before releasing the wind up. On those holes I wish I had more agency in where I positioned my car.

Overall fantastic, well done!

Developer(+1)

Yes! I preferred to playtest with a controller I was definitely better on the sticks than the keyboard + mouse.

THE PHYSICS ARE FAKE! I tried my best but if you notice no declines that because it gets all freaky deaky so I tried my best without I AGREE that would be sick launching off a ramp and then trying to nail the decline 🀘

Also this poor guy is my best friend now, I wuv him 🐸

We love to see it XD

This RULES. Very fun, the driving feels great and the design is nice. I'm retrying the levels to get 3 stars, which I hope you'll take as high praise.

Developer

THANK U! I take that as the highest praise ⭐⭐⭐!
AND I will definitely be STEALING your slow motion / bullet time mechanic!
How did I watch a wind-up toy car fly off a ramp a billion times in playtesting and NOT THINK TO MAKE IT SLOW MOTION?

Submitted(+1)

I had a great time playing this game. It took me a bit to get used to the driving mechanics, but I enjoyed them, as well as the interaction system. The menu also feels like a lot of time and effort went into it. Congrats!

Developer

Thank you! I struggled thru making the menu for quite awhile 😁

*slow clap*   very well done, good theme interpretation, well executed!   kudo's

Developer(+1)

I will take claps at any speed πŸ‘!
And have some clap back. Your game has me feeling nostalgic for Runescape when I was solving clue scrolls right after my friend finally convinced his mom to pay for membership βš™οΈπŸ₯ƒ

Very polished game, and pretty fun, too. No notes here.

Developer

Thank you! For playing and also for being the first jammer I've seen BRAVE ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU SPIN TO NAVIGATE THE UI 😀.

AMAZING. So simple, yet so entertaining. This is great!

Thank you! Be the light brother πŸ”¦πŸ’‘πŸ•―οΈ!

Played again after the earlier playtest.

It was already a fun and polished game and I think you have addressed all of my points of criticism. The preview is helpful and there are no levels that feel like difficulty outliers. The last level feels like a finale especially if you try to go for that star (I didn't, but I did beat it). I also enjoyed all the new concepts like trains and ufos.

Great game jam game, a simple concept done well.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Your idea to add a preview was golden and level 20 was straight up a difficulty WALL. Your advice and ideas helped BIG TIME πŸ™‡β€β™€οΈand your game has me thinking about island levels now πŸ€”πŸ’πŸοΈ

This game is peak! I can see thsi as a full game for app store, if you make it for mobile

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I think your game is also very well suited for mobile. Controls fit well, minimalistic art style so phone doesn't overheart and explode, and MAYBE you could do something with device orientation πŸ“²

Submitted(+1)

Amazing. This feels like a classic mobile game from when mobile games were good

Developer

Thank you! If I made most of the levels a lot easier to steer πŸ›ž I think this could be a good fit for mobile πŸ“±

Very polished overall! I really liked your interpretation of the theme, and it was cool to finally play the finished version after testing it earlier during development. I was really curious to see what had changed, and I think the improvements paid off.

My main piece of feedback is that the level order felt a bit strange. Some of the easier, simpler levels appeared pretty late in the game, which made the progression feel a little uneven. I also think the preview button would work better if it showed the entire stage at once instead of just part of it.

This was one of the few jam games I actually played all the way through, and I genuinely enjoyed the whole experience. Great job!

Developer

Thank you for playing AND playtesting! And the balancing/ordering levels was a real challenge.
BUT KNOW THIS, it would have been WAYY worse had I not had help from wonderful playtesters like yourself πŸ’–!
I appreciate you mucho πŸŽ†

I love the aesthetic of your game! Our studio website is papercraft too

I mean ur logo just looks so good

This was the first idea I started implementing for this jam but didn't know where to really take it so I had to scrap it - this game is exactly where it should have been taken and I'm SO glad someone built this, and built it this well.

I really loved this, it felt so polished and  smooth to play.

Developer(+1)

Thank you!
Your escape room game took me back to when I used to race a friend to see who could complete those escape-the-room browser games the fastest.
And it made me hungry for Shakshouka again 🍳

Played through every level, and loved it! Now that I've played it I'm almost surprised I haven't seen any other entries featuring a wind-up toy. A lot of levels, all well designed, and with enough variety and variation to keep me engaged the whole time. Really good!!

That makes me so happy to hear you played every level, thank you!

Your camera angles added so much tension to the beyblade-esque battle going on I was like how can 2 spinning gyros generate this much TENSION but then I remember there were 17 seasons of the anime, well done!

Submitted(+1)

Very clever idea to implement a wind-up toy for this jam's theme! I was shocked at how many levels there were and they're all well designed too. Very cool implementing multiple wind-up toys to charge up mid way as well. I don't think I have any suggestions here, this was awesome. This game is JUICY!

Developer

Thank you! Know that I am typing this with one hand after spinning thru outer space enough to appease your unruly mob of football fans 🏈.
We both had flying saucers πŸ›Έ!

Simple, clean and lots of fun!! I was locked in.

Developer

Thank you! I knew I was in for a good time as soon as I saw your cover art, I got to 148/150 πŸ’ͺ

Simple but very effective mechanics! Great level design! The graphics are cool, the theme is well respected, and there are plenty of levels. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you fellow spin-to-winder! Your idea was so fantastical.  Using hot air ballons to travel around islands would be perfect for a steampunk-world or bioshock-like in my opinion 🎈.

Submitted

Thanks! And yes, steampunk would definitely be perfect for a hot-air balloon game!
