i love it what an amzing game the story telling is amazing the art is amazing  the music and sfx are amazing the gameplay is great but the only two things i dont like are the combat system its honestly really bad and also the second thing , its not something i dont like but just wonder about ; the absence of the spin to win theme , but other than these two its really good well done !!!

Not really my cup of tea, not much of a souls' fan, but still, loved the paper craft 3D style. Didn't got the use of the theme there, maybe I didn't get far enough in the game to notice it. Good work!

Love the style of the game. Difficult to tell when you were hitting it getting hit. But the foundation for a full game is there. Nice work!

Big hollow knight vibes, hope this lil fella gets his memory back 🙏

Art is beautiful. Fun game with great character design. Thw hitboxes felt a bit wonky but that's the difficulty of making a 2D game in a 3D environment. Picture on the first scene is amazing

Great base for a cool game imo :)

Had some issues with the hitbox. Was hard to hit the enemies. And a bug where the second enemy somehow jumped on me, and we were stuck together :D

Overall Good work with that. Keep working on it and i think it could become a really good game :)

This game has so much potential! Music and art style are amazing, and a lot of work has been put into the game, and it shows.

I'm a little stuck on the second boss, so I'll wait for the attack collision update. I'd also like to be able to skip dialogue, haha. Good luck! This game is one of my favorites!

great visuals and audio, as other commentators say though, its hard to hit the enemy

Developer

thank you! And yeah, we're def gonna put combat adjustments on our list if we get the chance to update this haha. Thank you so much for playing!

Submitted(+2)

I like the visuals and music, though it's pretty hard to know when you damage the enemy

Developer

ohh yeah, I can see that. We'll def try to work on making that more obvious. Thank you so much for playing!

Submitted(+2)

pretty hard to hit the bosses but i loved the story and art

Developer

Yess hitbox adjustments is definitely something we'll be putting on our list for any future development haha. Thank you so much for playing!

Submitted(+2)

It has potential for a big game but i didn't see the theme

Also it was very hard to attack the enemies :c

Developer(+1)

yeahh admittedly we did sort of go "okay so there's a spin attack" and perhaps didn't incorporate the theme so much further sdfgh but it was worth a try lmao. And yes, if we ever get a chance to fine tune this we'll definitely be adjusting combat and hitboxes! Thank you so much for your feedback, and thanks for playing!

Really awesome aesthetics :) I am a super fan of 2.5D game styles, as others have mentioned being a bit me generous with the hit boxes would be helpful (maybe more on the depth?). Baby stepping the player and respawn points as well.

Really great work team

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Yes the 2.5d aesthetic was a lot of fun to work with lol. And I totally see what you all mean with the hitboxes lol. Having a more comprehensive tutorial/s could be super helpful too! Thanks for the feedback, and thank you for playing!

All goods! You could lead the player through smaller mobs first - you don't need blast them with direct tutorials.

Absolutely love the artstyle, reminds me of paper mario and bug fables. I think this has potential to become a massive game!

Developer(+1)

aa Thank you so much!! And thanks for playing!

it has nice visuals but the gameplay is kind of bad i couldn't beat second boss because i just cant i don't understand the hitboxes.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I def agree we need to adjust our hitboxes more, and that the second boss needs some fine tuning for hitability. Hopefully once our the jam is over (and our second coder's laptop is back online lmao), we'll get a chance to tighten that up! Thank you for your comment, and thanks for playing!

Really nice ambient and lighting specially!

Developer

Thank you! And thanks for playing!

Really nice visuals and audio! I liked very much the feeling and the dialogs as well. But the combat felt a bit odd with the hit boxes. Still its a great game and has a lot of potential. Nicely done!

Developer

Thank you so much for your comment! I def see what you mean about the hitboxes lol. Hopefully once the jam is over we'll get a chance to fine tune combat more! Thanks for playing!

gives me ori and hollow knight vibes. amazing game.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Hollow knight was def a big inspiration for the art haha

Submitted(+1)

the visuals here are beautiful!!!great art and great sound. u guys need to teach me how to do lighting in unity for my also paper mario inspired game :) i was having a bit of trouble hitting the first enemy. if you guys decide to continue developing (YOU SHOULD!!), i'd love if when i restarted i could restart from after the dialogue portions happened.

Developer

Thank you so much for your comment! I'll have to point you towards our coders for lighting help lmao, but I really appreciate your compliments for the art and sound! I def agree we can tighten up the combat, and make the dialogue portions something you don't have to keep seeing after every death should definitely be on our list for things to fix up lol. Hopefully once the jam is over we'll get a chance to fine tune it!

The visuals here are sooooo neat and clean, it shows you put a lot of care into it! I love Paper Mario so this even feels a bit nostalgic for me heheh, even down to the way the camera pans to the characters!

Regarding the gameplay, I thought running around and jumping felt nice, but I had a little trouble in the first encounter due to the attack hitbox and the missing feedback from hitting the enemy. Given that you experienced unfortunate inconveniences during the development (what a shame!), it's really understandable though, and what you published is more than enough to fuel the imagination of what this project could become!

this is such a caring and thoughtful review I really appreciate the time you took playing our game and the lovely words <3
and yess paper Mario was a big inspiration c:

Thank you for your feedback on our game! Paper Mario was definitely a big inspiration for the art style, but the way the camera pans being similar to Paper Mario is pure coincidence. It's actually a mathematical coincidence, I would say, because the camera's movement uses linear interpolation to smooth out the movement. I'm guessing Paper Mario used something similar, since linear interpolation for these kinds of use cases are common in programming.
The gameplay is definitely the roughest part of the game, as one of the fans of the PC  of our other programmer suddenly broke in the last bit of development. I suddenly had to figure out a way to finish the game, so sadly, we had to cut two more enemies from it. Another thing that hampered development was definitely our experience, as this was the first game jam for many of us (me included).
I believe it still turned out amazing thanks to the artists' work and our most incredible sound designer/composer, whose sounds enhanced the game ten fold.
Anyway, that's all I had to say. Thanks for playing and reading my yapping xdx lol frfr.
