What a cool rhythm game!  Very different from others I've seen in terms of mechanics.  Some of the patterns in the tracks make you think and plan on the fly and change plans on a dime, whereas others let you just vibe in a flow state; I really like the ebb and flow of tension as you work through the songs.  It's also cool how you introduce new little tweaks on the mechanics as the levels progress.

I wish there was more feedback on the scoring (maybe flash the segment that you landed on when collecting a note) since I didn't initially realize what was causing the .5x, .7x, etc (I originally thought it was about whether I caught the note on the beat or not, rather than about physical location).

The art is really well done, but it's almost too clean for my taste.  It looks really smooth and polished, but it almost feels AI-like in its lack of rough edges.

The songs are all bangers!  No notes there.

All-in-all, a really great, well-polished jam entry with a fun mechanic.  I had a lot of fun with it.  Great job to everyone involved.

Dun-dun-dun-dun! (Such an intense, pumping track!)

A wonderful concept efficiently conveyed. I was surprised to see how much you explored the design space with just these four levels, and it’s nice to see a rhythm game that’s nothing like Rhythm Heaven yet also toys with the player’s expectations. It makes playing it feel like having a conversation with the developer.

This bite-size experience was a blast and left me wanting more, but I wonder if I’d be able to reach a flow state playing this game for an extended period. It demands more visual acuity and motor control than the games I’m used to, making it hard for me to feel the groove. But I bet osu! players will have a good time.

Developer

Wow, thanks for the kind words and we're happy the design resonated with you! Since the control scheme can be hard to get used to, we hope we can instead make flow state come more easily with note patterns that players can expect and still feel clever for passing them

This is amazing wow it's almost hard to believe you managed to make it in a week it's so polished! Might be a skill-issue but that first level beat me up bad. Once you get used to it, it's pretty satisfying to play!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it in the end! We ran out of time to add a practice mode but for a jam ideally we could have tested the first level more since we can't have the experience of going into the game blind

Hey, this is second game like this for me in this jam(i played 200+), great idea! visuals are clean, i enjoyed a lot even when not a big fun of the rhytm games, gj
Inviting you to try my game also<3

Developer(+1)

Appreciate the support! Tried the hamster ball game too, that's a huge world layout you designed in a week  <3

Very cool Game. I like the Concept! Love the Tracks!

Such an amazing game. I feel like I can be a real dj now.

Developer

put this experience on your DJ resume!

Such a cool concept! Hitting the notes right on the beat feels really satisfying! The rewind mechanic was such a lifesaver too lol

If there will be future updates, adding buffs would make it for fun!
Have fun spinning, my fellow DJs! 🎧

i am a huge fan of rhythm games and really like this idea! it's scratching my "how do i do this," rub your belly and pat your head at the same time brain in a way i really like.

my only criticism is that the sound effects actually detract from the music a bit. i know it should be a reward, when you get a perfect the sound effects line up. unfortunately in practice, especially when you're sightreading a chart, the sound effects start becoming a distraction from what's happening in the audio. it almost causes a bit of a spiral effect where you lose the beat and start failing worse.

Developer

That's a great way to describe it, thanks! We tried to achieve that "rub your belly and pat your head" feeling with the interplay between the red and blue notes in each chart. Post-jam we'll check out how we can better tune the sfx better to complement gameplay to be more sightreadable. <insert gd dash spider jumpscare>

This is the first rhythm game I've seen in the jam and it really surprised me. The songs and tracks are really well made so they don't feel artificially overcomplicated (something that happens a lot in this type of game). It's super entertaining and really enjoyable, I wish there was an option to export my own songs, that would've been a 10/10. It got pretty hard for me towards the end of the game but that's possibly a skill issue on my part.

Developer

Yep, I do agree that end of the first level is a steep increase in difficulty. I liked the fluidity of the section in how passing it perfectly feels and looks amazing and with the large record sweeps, but probably should have "killed my darlings" and made it easier or moved this section to a future level.

We'll think about making a custom level editor, but no guarantees :D

A superb idea with a really strong execution. The visuals are great, the music is groovy, and the gradual difficulty curve feels well balanced throughout! The tutorial is also really well done, great work to the whole team!

bruh, this is Insane! One of the best games I played in this jam! I really like the music and it is very crative!

Damn you all made a whole backend to keep track of high scores but not a quit button on the executable lol

Amazing job!

hahaha oversight!

Really fun take on the theme.
It's a very reading heavy rhythm game. Quite hard to do things on rhythm instead of just hitting them. Especially the cursor position for hitting max score was weird since it felt like the hitsound was late when the judgement was 1.0x (Maybe it was just generous difficulty but the blue notes were tough nonetheless.)
The graphics look really clean and consistent.
I can see a lot of potential here for switching things around/adding new mechanics and such.
Incredible accomplishment for 1 week!

Developer

Thanks for the comments! We will upload a fixed hit timing version for web after the jam, stay tuned!

The game is so much fun! this game is really good and the music has good rhythm good job!

really nice loop. fun game with a unique style!

Very cool, I tried to get a rhythm going but I couldn't figure it out, I just treated it like a bullet hell haha. It was very fun and very polished!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying it out! It's totally fine to treat the game as a bullet hell hybrid to stay alive. the rhythm game timing is an extra challenge so we wanted to allow both playstyles!

Super sick!! I’m absolutely terrible at it, but I still kept going back cause it was so fun and groovy. Awesome mechanic and executed incredibly well

Amazing, love the idea and the everything about the implementation, gave me a bit of Super Hexagon vibes in a great way, the balancing between the blue notes and red notes while also avoiding the pin was beautiful, definitely one of my favorites in this game jam, amazing work ♥

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yessss, love super hexagon!

Sooooooo coooool!!!!! I loved this so much, it felt super polished! The visuals were amazing and the music as well, and thanks to how free you are in the way you can hit the notes, there is a lot of room for feeling cool and doing "tricks"! I especially enjoyed to just launch away the pin when the disc was covered by red notes - super fun!!

I saw another comment about it already, but I also think that having at least some kinda SFX feedback, for scratching the disc would make the player feel even more cool, but other than that, I don't have any complaints! Amazing work!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! We'll think about how we can better integrate scratching SFX after the jam!
