The sound effects really sold this. Now excuse me while I continue to walk to the horizon

Developer

Our sound guy will be very pleased to hear this

Submitted(+1)

this was like i was in some kind of a dream haha

does anything happen if you eat 10000 meals?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

There is a reward if you somehow manage to get to 10,000 points. On each meal you can get up to 50 points, so it would take 200 perfect meals to get there. There is somewhat of a shortcut, if you cook a pickle until it explodes and survive the explosion you can eat the pickle and get 1000 points, so if you cooked 10 pickles you’d make it. Probs not worth the effort tho.

I don't think I get what I am supposed to do.. But I think the game have pretty interesting idea

( also I play and also rate your games.. So I really appreciate it if you can play and also rate my game call invader Jimmy.. Means a lot to me!!!.. And I wish best of luck for you at the end game jam!!! 💪)

Developer

Cook food in the microwave, eat it, and repeat. That's pretty much it

Submitted(+1)

I think the name of the game is genius haha, Microwave, Vaporwave. genius. I have NO idea what happened with the sun that exploded next to me after a couple dishes and a statue popped up and disappeared, and then I got an ad for another game or what was that haha?? I also lost my menu because it glitched into the table, but it was pretty easy to just take it out when the smoke appeared. I made like 6-7 dishes, then I tried walking off the map for 5 minutes and then gave up. 10/10 would do it again.

Developer(+1)

Ahhh you caught on to the name, great spot. Glad you liked the game too, we tried to deliver an "experience".

Host(+1)

this is like what the animal crossing nh dream world must feel like

Developer

For sure, I see where you’re coming from

Submitted(+1)

This was a strangely surreal experience in the best way, I put my riceballs in the microwave upside down and stared at it with a beautiful backdrop of falling stars and papers questionably jiggling on the table. The jankyness of the controls somehow make it better, more fun to interact with stuff.

I didn't eat my riceballs, I left them in there for 15 minutes to see if they would explode or something (spoiler: they didn't) And I don't actually feel like it was a waste of time :P For some unexplainable reason I enjoyed being in this space with a microwave.

I did eventually move on ofcourse but I literally spent an actual 15 mins just in there looking around.

So this was nothing like anything I expected but I somehow really enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

I'm amazed you cooked the  rice balls for a full 15 minutes, that's true dedication. You have my deepest respect.

as _______ awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found himself transformed on an unfamiliar sofa in the middle of the ocean into a gigantic coconut.

Developer(+1)

We getting lore now

Submitted(+1)

This game made my PC sound like a microwave lol

Developer(+1)

gotta offer the full 4d experience

Submitted(+1)

FAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH.. Really fun. I blasted my player away also, there was this cool plug for legless. 10/10. One issue is that when you run and press ESC, the input stays registered

Developer(+1)

Ah good spot, I must have forgotten to flush the inputs. Crazy you got the blasting player bug, must have been an experience. We were getting that all the time with the paper until I turned off player collisions on them, guess there's still a chance of it happening on the other objects.

Submitted(+1)

I mean I enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

i... weirdly really like the vibe of this. i want to be starting a grand adventure with this microwave and sofa in the middle of a vast shallow ocean. was sad to die after overcooking my food but feels true to microwave life

Developer

Great to hear you resonated with the game’s vibe

Submitted(+1)

Super fun to cook food on my very own water planet, felt really chill. The visuals / overall vibe was actually amazing, that skybox was peak. The only criticism I have is that my Cooking Times menu kept clipping through the table.

Developer(+1)

Yeah that clipping is number one on our fix list

Submitted(+1)

Such A Silly Game! the physics were a bit annoying though

Developer

Yeah, physics needs some optimisations for sure, seems to run quite differently on different setups

Submitted(+1)

I don't think sentient coconuts have small enough fingers to write a proper comment

But for real - the only thing that is janky is physics; otherwise great experience!

Developer

Appreciate the feedback, yeah the physics seems to run quite differently on different setups so it def something we'll look into improving.

Submitted(+1)

Haha, that's funny! We also had a microwave-themed game. Well done! I really enjoyed the vaporwave aesthetic to the game.

Developer(+1)

Big up microwave games!

Submitted(+1)

Feels like a dream. Or.... heaven? I enjoyed my time microwaving meals in cosmic space heaven. I enjoyed tossing my W2/tax form WAY into the waters of my personal microwave planet. I could not figure out how to score more than 1 point, I swear I steamed things correctly, and I would have been even more satisfied if I felt more rewarding for my excellent microwaving skills. Also, wish I could have closed that darn door by moving it. It would be cool to have a retractable microwave door button in real life, but my instincts, yes, my ingrained instincts, kept making me try to close the door the natural way; Fun experience!

Developer(+1)

yeah I see where you’re coming from with swinging the door, could def add that in. The moment the food steams it’s cooked but if you strive further and keep letting it steam you can reach scores of 5 and even 50 from a single meal, but the longer you steam the higher the odds of burning your food.

Submitted(+1)

Ahhhhh, I was scared of burning my food. I DID read the nice instruction pamphlet, but then I...... casted it across the planet LMAO.

Developer(+1)

dw you did the right thing, tossing your problems into the ether is a core element of the game

Submitted(+1)

I like the visuals, the sound effects and the music. The eating animation was funny.
From a game design perspective I didn't feel like I got any relevant decision to make, maybe I didn't understood the coocking/steam thing.

Not a problem, but it felt like mouse move faster in horizoantal axis than vertical, don't know if thats intentional.

The eating animation was very funny :D

Developer(+1)

We could have made a bit clearer, but when a food steams that means it's cooked, the longer it steams the more it's cooked and the more points you can get but at some point it will burn, so it's like a game of chicken

Submitted(+1)

AAAh, but there is no way to know when it's going to burn?, so I guess it's an spin to win gamble?

Developer(+1)

There's 2 pieces of paper on the table with suggested cook times for all the meals, if you cook the meal to the time it  says it's a guarantee that it will steam and not be overcooked but you will get minimal points, the longer you go beyond the suggested cooking time the more points but you have the risk of burning the food. Yeah it's a spin to win gamble basically.

Submitted

Yeah, you did that great, I did understand that one easy.

Thanks for your quicks anwsers and explanations!

Submitted(+1)

Cool creative game!

Submitted(+1)

The idea was really creative, fit the theme well, and was a lot of fun. Congratulations!

Submitted(+1)

I love the use of theme and overall vaporwave aesthetic of the game. I like all the random goofy stuff scattered throughout the game, the coconut people, tax form, pickle, death sound, etc. The balancing act of maximizing points without burning the food is fun, but makes it really hard to progress without accidentally giving yourself food poisoning. even a little sign 1-2 seconds before fully burning would be really helpful, and could add a QTE kinda thing to it.

Developer

Really appreciate the feedback and glad to hear you enjoyed it. I can definitely see how another sign could help, maybe a sizzle or something similar.
