Fun game! The art is really cute and the mechanic is interesting, although the controls are definitely not there yet. I have to let go of a direction key to go in the other direction, aiming is really finicky, I also often clipped into the floors / ceilings, and I really disliked that after throwing the boomerang even if I had movement keys held down I stood still until I stopped holding down and pressed again. I really like the idea that youre going for but there's too much friction in just controlling the character itself. I really want to return to this one post-jam and to see this all cleared up as its such a cool concept!

Thank you! I appreciate all the feedback. I plan on fixing all these issues once I'm done with another project I'm currently tinkering on. I'd like to return to this world, this character, & these mechanics in another game sometime in the future. To make a full game out of this jam piece. Will keep your comments in mind in the future! Cheers ✨

I managed to get to the end thanks to WASD also being bound, though it made it a bit cramped with XC buttons. Nice little platformer. I did accidentally land on the last coin so i didn’t get to read the dialogue for the last pirate down there in the well. Over all level design worked well also. My one gripe was that I accidentally re-triggered the long dialog of the captain(?) high up on the ship and there was no way of getting out of it. So a solid game all in all.

I can't believe the one pirate's wife didn't like being called "me matey" They truly deserved better.

this game looks awesome and the sfx are good too! what i will say was that the controls felt janky and... jerk-y? moving on the ground was weird because the character "stutters" forward. sometimes collisions were also janky.

i think it would be a good idea to allow players to fast foward text by pressing space or another button, because when i played, i didnt want to talk to anyone knowing that i was going to have to wait for the scroll to read the dialogue. i know that you can SKIP the dialogue, but i think pressing the spacebar or another button should make the full line show, THEN move to the next textbox.

very stylish entry!!

Cute! I like the art and general vibes of the game, but unfortunately the collision and controls are very broken. It's a shame, because the level design was pretty fun when it worked, but the amount of times I was having to reposition until I clip into a wall in the right direction is alarming, and turning around before releasing your current direction seemed to mess up and freeze you in place for a second.

I also appreciated the inclusion of WASD controls, but ended up using arrow keys even as someone who never does that, only because there weren't alternate keys for jumping and throwing that work well with WASD.

I think "spin to win" could've been a bit more of a clearly emphasized theme, but I assume the boomerang is the idea?

A really retro little platformer, this one was pretty nostalgic - the core mechanics are solid, but I feel like it could've benefitted from having more of a standing of some kind. Having some enemies or obstacles you can smack with the boomerang would be cool - though the throwing dynamics and general playstyle is really solid.

Visually it's limited by the equipment and hardware it's emulating - but from that it comes out with a really stylish and cool looking aesthetic. It makes the most of what it has, and it shows that in droves. It harkens back to those old school days of the gameboy, and while the core engine could do with some polish to bring it up to modern standard, the fact you've made it all yourself from scratch is pretty cool.

All in all - it was a pretty enjoyable game to play.

The art and the character are really cute! I also really like the kit (jump with a flutter, and a boomerang you can aim). I also like that the boomerang can pick up coins for you.

I don't play retro games too often, but the collision is a little sketchy, which makes platforming a bit clunky for me personally. There also weren't any enemies to use the boomerang on, so was it just for collecting coins? The game would probably benefit from a more structured goal/more involved game play.

Overall solid entry though!

the movement and collision feels a bit off. didn't manage to get all 99 coins but i assume thats what your meant to do.

It's quite fun, the graphics and thumbnail art are beautyful, the movement is fine but the player character does stick onto wals and I got stuck once because of that and it softlocked me. It doesn't fit the theme much but it's a nice little game, as some other comments point out it also could benefit of some music.

I really enjoyed playing this game! Collecting coins was satisfying and I love the retro feel.

The art is cool but it lacks audio

Very solid platformer style game, I thoroughly enjoyed it but it could use some music.
