Really fun! Definitely a little difficult but I play souls types so I can't really hate a game that's difficult. I really like the style and it was a great submission!

Developer(+1)

thx for playing :p
I am also sucker for difficult but fair games. Mine defo needs ton of work to get to that point.

This game was incredibly fun once I understood how to play it, That being said the tutorial was definitely lacking and I spent quite a while getting crippled by debuffs before finally understanding how the main mechanics work (It didnt help that I missed the room explaining that the spinners reset the debuff cooldown for most of my playthrough as the door always opened after I passed it).

I feel like some of the debuffs were also a little too harsh, for some of them if you got the debuff your run was essentially instantly over unless you got incredibly lucky, otherwise you can just completely ignore them.

I also feel like the running speed initially might have been tuned a little too low but I understand why it is like that, its just the moment your slide gets nerfed, or when you first start confused the base walking speed doesnt really convey the nature of the game immediately.

Other than that this game shows amazing potential and I cant wait to see where it ends up in the future. Great work!!

Developer

Tyy for playing and the feedback!

All of that is fair.

These are all excuses but I wish I had more time to at least add a tutorial map + one more map. I alr had the base ready for them.

I also agree that debuff/buff values and timings need to be balanced a ton. Initial idea was to make it a lot more chaotic. Debuff would cast faster but they'd be a lot less punishing.

Be very fun if it spawned a lot more objects and variety of unique effects. I even had 2 weapons with equip+attack systems. Had to cut them out.

The initial walking speed was actually done carefully. Rather other movement was built around it. It isn't mentioned anywhere but Dash actually gives u Iframes, bet no one knew that xd

Idea was to teach the player that walk is there to get the initial movement, that's it. That is why nearly every other movement has a speed boost of sorts. -WallJump boosts speed towards where the camera is looking. Slide Start boosts speed. -I even added a Dash speed multiplier on ground slam, which is a 30ms window right after GroundSlam finds a ground. All of this was really exciting for me. But I didn't teach them anywhere and that is on me. Core movement was something I've been doing since I've started learning, before this jam, and is what I most worked on trying to balance it for this game.

I actually have a finished vision for this game and will be working on it. Only thing is that I need to learn ton of stuff along the way. Will go back to not having the random buff/debuff mechanic. I might implement them on some maps but won't be the core mechanic.

Overall because of u and others I know what to work on. Gives me a lot of motivation if people are honest about the potential :)

I really do appreciate u giving it a fair try and the honest feedback :p glad u enjoyed it!

Oh yaa knowing all of that the base walking speed definitely makes sense then! I've never really played a game similar to this, Ik its similar to bloodtheif and megabonk but I did really enjoy the game and I cant wait to see where this game ends up in the future!!

I like how it feels like I'm slapping the thing that gives me a card.. It feels very interactive!

This was a really cool game! I struggled a bit at first to figure out how to play, and I found the lack of checkpoints a little frustrating, especially when I had to restart after making progress. That said, once I got the hang of it, I really enjoyed the experience. Overall, it's a fun and well-made game great job! :)

Developer

Thx for playing and glad u liked it!

this is amazing! the graphics and movement reminded me of ultrakill which i also like. my only feedback is that there should be spawnpoints every now and then i think

Developer

Thx for playing and am glad u liked it.

Yeah checkpoints is something I really wanted to add.

I definitely love the style and looks of it! I think I’m too bad at video games though to get very far Y_Y I only got through the second big door

I wish there were more ways to build and conserve speed though, I think it has the potential to be really cool if the movement could be more skill-based and less luck-based (the jump / 3 debuffs got me mega stuck)

Super awesome for a first game though!!! Especially for only having started game dev 4 months ago

Developer(+1)

Yo rly appreciate the feedback and thx for playing.

And no I don't think ur bad. If I was to have multiple maps, this map would be like 5th or later. There should be a gradual build up in difficulty. So it is on me.

The core movement relies on carrying on ur movement using slide. But the map is super tight for how fas u can get. And I rly tried to make things less random with the boxes. But I hear u. The jump annoyed me too, but I left it in anyway xd

Thanks a lot :) I've only done movement since I've started so am happy with where I am. I do lack in other aspects because of it. The box idea I had at first almost made me give up, but I found a work around xd

This is nice looking. It's... hard, that's for sure. But there's something great about the slide lasting a long time when it does. Just wish lava was a little less "start at the beginning again." So if you do continue with it, definitely add checkpoints.

Developer(+1)

hey man really appreciate the feedback :d

Yea I definitely made it too hard xd I really wanted to create a tutorial and all that. But I have no clue how to create a checkpoint system so I skipped it, since I didnt have much time to learn new things. This project represents everything I've learned at this point!

And am glad you liked the slide! I intentionally made it so that it keeps ur speed at constant value, unless u speed urself up- ex dash while sliding+initial slide gives another boost. I first made it more physics based. But I wanted to simplify everything I can!

I will definitely continue yes. I love movement based games with less randomness. So for a different project I will remove the randomness this one has.

Great potential! Movement is soo adictive but need some improvement :D  Would love to see it worked on more ;)

Developer(+1)

hey man thx fpr playing! It definitely will be worked on. I really wanted to participate in this jam so just had to leave it this far. But I will work and finish different version of this game!
