Love the platforming and the art! It's a bit confusing where to go and what to do at times (Like I had to go to the comments to figure out how to get past the pendulum), and the boss fights are a bit underwhelming since they can't actually damage you and don't have any sound effects. Though overall really impressive for a jam game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the constructive feedback! We really didn't have enough time to refine those small user experience details like 'where to go? what to do?', and we couldn't balance the bosses the way we wanted. We'll definitely try to improve on that for our next projects. Hope you enjoyed it and had fun!

Yeah jam deadlines can be tight. Scoping lower can help with that. Having one really solid boss is better than having three underwhelming ones. Most people aren't expecting anything lengthy in a jam game, so if you can condense all your effort into the shortest gameplay segment you can that usually has a better result. Keep it up!

Aww, this was an adorable story and everything was so nicely put together! My only issue was that I didn't always quite get what defeated the bosses, and also got stuck at the pendulum for a while like SourQuack also mentioned. :D But overall I really enjoyed this game, great work!

Thank you for playing and sharing your feedback! We’re going to make the next one even better!

That's some pretty neat art! The jump mechanic was simple but the level design did a good job setting up the pathes to use the mechanic. I did very briefly get stuck at the room with the pendulum right after you meet Chrono the first time. I saw the prompt for F but I think the popup was too far from the pendulum so I didn't put two and two together immediately. Maybe keeping the popup just above or at least a little closer to the pendulum and not having it disappear so quickly would've helped me at least. This is a nice and complete game though, the credits were super cute!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, I hope you had fun! We got a lot of feedback on that part, and it would definitely be interesting to add a prompt to the door mechanism, or just make the player 'stick' to it when walking by without needing to press F (just like it is at the end of the game). Thanks for the constructive feedback, we’ll improve this for the next one!

Oh this was phenomenal  I had so  much fun, it looks great and  excuse me but story + boss battles!? One small thing I wish to have, the jump to be based on how long the jump button is pressed. I'm saying that because I felt like I needed smaller jumps in some cases. You've done very well, great job!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing our game, I hope you had fun! Regarding your feedback on the jump buffer, it definitely was a missed feature! We actually tried to implement it, but it was causing some conflicts with the character's behavior, so we had to cut it. :(

I like how cute the green ball protagonist is. I also liked the technique of using pink objects to perform multi-jumps. It’s amazing that you were able to create a boss in just one week. Great job!

This was really nice!! The zones were visually stunning (the first one with the falling pieces in the background was so cool!), the dialogue was a lil' cheesy but fun, and the pacing was perfect. It's incredible that you made a whole story-focused platformer in one week, especially with such good art! I think it could maybe be more challenging overall, such as how the boss fights can't actually hurt the player. But the Path of Pain definitely added some difficulty at just the right point, so the game isn't completely a walk in the park! Very nicely done :)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! We tried to make the base difficulty accessible to everyone, and adding the 'Path of Pain' was our way of pushing the mechanics to a harder level. I hope you had fun!

Honestly, this was the best game that I played so far in the entire jam. Like - how did you make all this in a WEEK?? It was really fun and exciting :)

This is one of the most polished games I've seen this jam! I did NOT expect it to be like a full game with bossfights and everything, amazing job to all of you! Also how is this your first game?? Crazy good job! If I was gonna give any feedback it would be the triangle fight, where the bottom triangle just stood still and got hit over and over by the top one, making it pretty simple, since it moved back to the same spot every time. It also felt a little odd that the game fights didnt reset when you died, but you could just keep going. I mean, it did make it easier, but just felt a little odd since I feel like that's usually not what happens when you die haha, the room usually resets. But once again, amazing job!

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback!

The battle against the Triangle Brothers is definitely well below what we intended to deliver. We managed to refine it a bit right before submitting the project, but we ran out of time to get it exactly how we wanted. The fight was supposed to be an 'escape the room' setup while both of them chased you, but unfortunately, we just didn't have enough time left :(

Thank you again for playing, and I hope you had fun!

Really creative game! I'm finding myself more and more impressed with the amount of different ideas in this jam! I really like a game with a story, and the controls were pretty good too! The only thing I could say is that maybe some cues as to what to do in certain parts would be nice (maybe I just didn't read well though) and maybe a more epic music on boss fights.

Very cute game with a lot of soul! I got a bit stuck when I got to the pendulum guy, but I love the effort that was put into this!

Platformers are my favorite genre so I was really excited to play this! And you guys have a cool start!

I really liked the world building you managed to achieve in just one week. I got stuck on the screen in the image, I managed to drop the chain, but I'm not sure what this does and everything just feels walled off. I really wish I knew how to get past this, because the other areas from the screenshots look really interesting! Probably some sort of visual queue to indicate what should happen here would help a ton.

I noticed there's generous coyote time which I appreciate, however there wasn't any input buffering on the jump that I could notice. Would recommend that as well as it's a pretty similar implementation! I also noticed that if I held an input while I died and then respawned, I wouldn't move in that direction. But when I released I would jolt in that direction briefly.

I'm also not a huge fan of the mixels.

But those things aside, I had a great time and really wish I knew how to continue so I could try the rest of the game!

Developer

Wow, thank you so much for checking out our game! I have to say, your game is easily my absolute favorite out of everything I've seen so far! I hope you win the Jam!

Just to help you out with that room: there are two pink chains you can use your pogo jump on. You can see one in your screenshot, and the other is back in the room to the left. Clearing those will open up the next area!

I did try to add jump buffering, but it messed with the gameplay physics a bit, so I sadly had to take it out :(

And good catch on the respawn issue! I added a movement cooldown right after respawning, which explains the jolt, but adding a visual indicator for it is a great idea.

Also, thanks for the note on the mixels! This is actually our first time handling both the programming and the art for a game, so looking back, I can definitely see how the mixed pixel scales can be a bit distracting.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and for all the amazing feedback. I really hope you get a chance to finish the game and let us know what you think!

PS: I actually managed to beat your game after a while and it felt incredibly rewarding. I would absolutely buy it if it were on Steam!

Just went back and finished the game and I can't lie... it's cinema!

I'm incredibly impressed by how distinct and deep each area feels in design. Every area felt like it was much more expansive than what was shown, which is so hard to pull off! The last time I felt that was playing Silksong.

My favorite area was definitely The Spire Vault. It had such a nice color palette, and I really enjoyed the dimensionality of navigating through the metal shelves in the beginning. The way you do damage to the boss at the end of this area was clever too!

The reveal at the end of the role the square and triangle characters play was very well executed! Nice aha moment!

I'd love to play more of this if it turns into a full game! I think if some of the art was cleaned up (mostly the mixels as I mentioned before), the physics was polished a little, and there was more variety added into each area and boss fight you'd have a super solid Steam worthy game! But for a 7 day game jam this is such a good start. I can tell a lot of heart was put into building out this world!

One of my favorite games I've played so far, and I've updated my rating! Good job :)

I got stuck in the same place. Something in game showing that what I need might be in a different room might help. Loved the graphics and platforming. Well done!

Really impressive platformer for the time limit! The controls felt responsive and the art style tied everything together beautifully. Only thing is that extra jump thingies, sometimes felt inconsistent if i was spamming they were fine , but overall a really solid, polished entry. Great work!

The art for this is very polish and I love how you had time to incorporate a story to this! I wished that the camera displayed when the next part started/ended a bit better. I can see game being fleshed out more in the future! Keep it up!

Developer

Coming from such a great team, I’m happy to receive this feedback! Thanks a lot for playing our game.I hope you enjoyed it, and sorry about the lack of polish on the cameras!
